In this video, we'll be updating our Godox Speedlite Flash comparison 2020 with Godox's newest inclusions - The Godox V1 Round Head Speedlite Flash and the Godox V850II E-TTL HSS Speedlite Flash. #godox #godoxspeedlites #hypop
Each Godox flash is available for most major camera brands including Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm and Olympus. For those looking for the best Godox speedlights this year, a breakdown of each flash can be found below:
TT350 and V350
Smaller flashes, perfect for mirrorless cameras or if you'd prefer a more compact speedlite. They are full master flashes with TTL and HSS up to 1/8000s. They're compatible with Godox's X wireless trigger system using the X1 or XPro triggers. The TT350's are powered by 2x AA batteries whereas the V350 is powered by Godox's Lithium-ion battery which increases the recycle time of the flash and allows for 500 full power flashes.
TT600 and TT600S
Full sized manual Godox flashes with HSS up to 1/800s. Also compatible with the Godox X Wireless System when using the X1 and XPro triggers. The TT600 flashes are compatible with most cameras featuring a metal hot shoe (except Sony). The TT600S is made specifically for Sony cameras with Sony's proprietary MFI (multifunction interface) hot shoe.
TT685 and V860II
Similar to the 350 series, the TT685 is a full sized master TTL/HSS flash. They feature a guide number of GN60 and work with the Godox X1 and XPro triggers. They are great substitutes for your camera brand's flashes (Canon Flashes, Nikon Flashes, etc.) The V860II is the lithium-ion battery version of the TT685 and therefore increases recycle time to 1.5s at full output. It allows for up to 500 full power flashes and is perfect with Wedding and Event photographers or just for any photographer who requires a faster recycle time.
V850II
The V850II is a manual Godox flash, which means it's compatible with most cameras that have a metal hotshoe. Same as the V860II, both flashes support Lithium-ion battery. The li-ion battery also allows the V850II to improve the recycle time to 1.5s at full output compared to its counterpart, the TT600. It allows up to 650 full power flashes, which can be a longer-lasting, manual alternative to the V860II. Perfect for photoshoots when you've got multiple shooters working with different camera brands.
V1
The V1 is an especially unique addition to the Godox speedlite flash range 2020 because of it's round head, which helps it emit soft and smooth light with gradual fallloff. Lithium-ion battery powered, the Godox V1 Speedlight gives 480 full-power flashes at a charge with a fast recycle time of approx. 1.5s. Another neat feature is the AF-assist modelling lamp, which can help you gain focus for your shots in low-lit situations. Its magnetic head makes it compatible to use with the Godox AK-R1 Accessories kit. Perfect for creative photographers who like to experiment with their shots.
Overall, Godox flashes are cost-effective flash lighting options and a great system to invest in. They're compatible with most brands and pack in all the features of the branded flashes for a fraction of the price.

great video! i have a nikon system and like the godox products. in fact, i recently bought the pb960 pack. question: when one uses godox speedlights with the godox pb960 pack, there is no need for other batteries to power the speedlight? when i use my nikon speedlight with the godox pb960, i still need to install batteries for the speedlight electronics. so with the godox pg960 pack and godox speedlights, the pack will power the speedlights completely, right?

I'm shooting with a Nikon D750 and looking to do casual outdoor portraiture along with handheld for macro work. I would like to have more standardized comparison of the Guide Number for 35mm focal length and 100ASA. All guide numbers listed are only for tele focal length, which is not very comparable in a normal party scenario (using about 28 to 70mm, but mostly 35).

@AnhTran-ig1zp
@AnhTran-ig1zp 3 года назад
The TT685II should be good enough (use AA battery), the lithium battery in the V860II helps you to increase recycle time (the flash needs time in between to light up again) but you will shoot still real estate so you shouldn’t need that. With the trigger you will have more flexible way to light up your subject. It doesn’t need to be stuck on the camera and the TT685II can work accordingly (slave mode) with your Nikon built-in flash. Hope this help

@hypop
@hypop 2 года назад
Hi Caleb, the Godox TT520II is an older model and sits along side the TT600 as they're both manual flashes. It only works with Godox's legacy flash trigger system the FT-16 but you can get it to work with the new X wireless system by using an XTR-16 receiver. They're discontinued by Godox now but you may get lucky with stock at a retailer.

@hypop
@hypop 3 года назад
An XPro-N (Nikon) would only operate as a manual trigger on a Canon camera's hot shoe as the metal pins don't match. You'll still be able to control your Godox lights wirelessly such as change the settings and mode but won't be able to use TTL or HSS. Best to get the compatible trigger for your camera brand.

When a flash is for Canon, does it then work with all Canon from old DSLR to newest R6 mark II? And thanks for the comparison!
@hypop
@hypop Год назад
Hey there! In general, modern Canon version Godox on-camera flashes are compatible with all Canon models at a minimum of being able to fire off the flash with the shutter. Occasionally, specific features may not work with certain cameras. For instance, on mirrorless cameras, including other brands besides Canon, the AF assist feature is known to be non-functional. There are reports of limited TTL effectiveness on the R6 Mark II, but we can't confirm since we don't have it for testing. Hope this helps!
@anzaeria

According to the Godox website, the TT600 is only compatible with a few dedicated Godox flash transmitters. I don't suppose it's possible to trigger it with flash triggers from other brands? If so, could those flash triggers work with any brand of camera?
@hypop
@hypop Месяц назад
You can only trigger the TT600 using the internal receiver via a Godox X-trigger such as the X1, X2, X3, XPro or XProII. If you'd like to use other triggers such as Pocketwizards or other brands you'd have to attach a receiver to the bottom of the TT600 to integrate it to that particular wireless system, which isn't as elegant as the Godox system however would still work.

Any of the C model flashes so something like the TT685CII for a full sized flash or V860IIIC if you prefer a faster recycle time with lithium ion battery. Lastly if you're after maximum output and prefer a round head flash which is easier to modify then the V1-C.

You asked about the pros and cons of Godox Li Ion batteries. Personally I don't really care about the battery technology, its the form factor that I am most concerned with. If its a proprietary shape then you are locked into the manufacturer. If its a "standard" cell/battery shape then you don't have to worry that the manufacturer either doesn't make batteries any more or wants to charge an arm and a leg. I also like the idea of being able to plug in an external battery pack using a standard, non proprietary cable.

The Meike 320 appears to be a smaller flash equivalent to the Godox TT350. We'd suggest the TT685 or even the Godox V1 if you want something larger and more powerful

Are any of them compatible on camera with TTL with the Nikon D780? The TT685N is not compatible unfortunately and I cannot use it on camera.
@hypop
@hypop 3 года назад
Some of the new model cameras from Canon and Nikon have barred third party brand flashes from being mounted on-camera. A few work arounds with firmware updates from Godox have helped but unfortunately until these are released it's just a waiting game. :(

@@hypop Yes, it is. I have heard from some people that the V1 and the V860ii with the latest firmware work, and have ordered a V1. I will confirm if this is so when I receive it.

Which is best Godox v850ii Vs Godox v860ii please answer me!
@hypop
@hypop 3 года назад
The V860II is better as it has full TTL capabilities. If you're comfortable shooting in manual flash mode then the V850II is enough. Apart from that they have the same features.

Any of the "C" versions of these flashes should work however recently Canon have been implementing software that doesn't allow third-party brand flashes/triggers to utilise the hot shoe. You may need to update the firmware or find a workaround.

Yes, the V860IIC is compatible with most Canon cameras (DSLR / mirrorless) so long as it has the Canon metal hot shoe.

Equipment from the US is generally cheaper due to sales tax. The sales tax on B&H is added in at checkout depending on your country or post code if you are located in USA.

Anyone able to tell me if either of the TT350 or V350 are compatible with the Canon R5? I’m after a small flash for macro photography. Thanks in advance 👍
@hypop

Yes, the C versions of both the TT350 and V350 should be compatible. Canon however have been releasing software locks on mounting "third party devices" or non-Canon branded devices but Godox have updated compatibilities with their firmware updates.

The older model flashes don't feature in-built receivers therefore we only discuss the flashes that are compatible with the X-wireless system.

@frits1463

I use speed lights of and on so I don't want Lithium batteries as they lose capacity over time. Besides that it's easier to find some AA batteries in case you run empty. I don't use TTL as it is not very reliable (will it meter on the subject or the background, you never know). Never us a speed light on top of the camera also. So the best flash for me is the TT600. Manual flashes only do HSS in combination with a trigger, not on camera !!!
