We were supremely honored to have Godspeed You! Black Emperor give us their (exceedingly rare) blessing to shoot their BottleTree set. True to form, it was epicly long and we won't present it in its entirety but we hope you enjoy this selection. For the uninitiated, GY!BE is an instrumental Canadian experimental/post-rock band from Montreal that spent most of the past decade on hiatus until finally getting back together a few years ago. They have been hugely influential both as Godspeed and through their members' various side projects.

LIVE FROM BIRMINGHAM is the home of Subcarrier, an Alabama Public Television production filmed and recorded at SATURN in Birmingham, AL, featuring performers from across the musical spectrum. Subcarrier is the continuation of WE HAVE SIGNAL, a project active from 2008 until 2015 when the world-famous venue BottleTree closed.

Of all the existing, imaginary and possible television channels, I'd never thought Alabama Public Television would be the one recording this absolute gem of postrock, that took place literally a continent away from the Gulf.

That was the coolest thing about seeing them live; you could actually see when they were cueing each other and nodding at each other for different sections in the songs. So cool.

man i remember this feeling when i was walking home from my girlfriend's and while i was walking i was listening to Rockets Falls on Rockets Falls and having a cig on a very chill august night. this memory still gives me chills

I got into them when I was studying in Montreal, I went to an Anarchist Book Day, with a classmate, and I heard their music there, it was amazing. That was 20+ years ago, I finally saw them 2 weeks ago, it was a metaphysical experience. Total bucket list show .

Unreal. This deserves more views. I'll never forget being 13 and listening to Moya for the first time. That moment at 8:27 into the track and it just opens right up was amazing. Blissful

I heard this band for the first time last week. After hearing a few of their albums I decided to buy a ticket for their upcoming concert in Zürich. I was a bit unsure about this impulsive decision, but after watching this video I'm sure it was an S tier decision.

I'm 54,born in 67',Expo/Summer of Love, GenerationX, blessed&scared, a suburb resident who made it to graduation in French, non-seperatist, English 99% of the time,rich and significant French background, joie de vivre, between several cultures and open to all of them, streetsmart,spoiled,naive,broken parental union, classic rock bad boy but lover of all genres, cinema, théâtre/theater,music performer, dangerous and life changing encounters with all sorts of characters, ways of love and women who were fast at a young age..... basically, Montreal is definitely a European city,full of known corruption and diverse eventful memories..... This GYBE vibe, priceless. Oh the RU-vid videos of shows I saw growing up, one of the amazing elements of this thing we call internet.

What was really great on f sharp a sharp were the spoken vocals that gave it that extra dimension, that visuals (on their own) like video in the background don't do. It's still great, especially since in Montreal or elsewhere in the shithole shopping center known as North America there is no more room for actual art. I'm a fan. With, say, a touch of poetry this could just maybe surface, without any help from The Horror, and really make a lot of people feel better, because what is left of the world above ground is so gray and depressing. Godspeed make beautiful music.

There is something different about Godspeed from recent(ish) times compared to the 90’s Godspeed. Maybe it’s just time, the world, or just my interpretation of their sound. They don’t captivate me like they once did. But the world was a bit different then, maybe I was too.
