However, you guys forgot to mention that during one of the briefing scenes with the military, Professor Miyasaka (Shirō Sano) is standing and talking, then looks down and realizes his necktie is outside of this buttoned jacket and tucks it in: this is a nod to Dr. Yamane (Takashi Shimura).

Actually, one of the FUNNIEST lines with this movie is on the commentary track for the U.S. version DVD. At the finale, when Shinoda (Takehiro Murata) comments “Perhaps there’s a bit of Godzilla is all of us” and Godzilla starts torching the city, Michael Schlesinger (producer/writer of the Sony English dub), and Darren Paskal have this exchange: Schlesinger: “So many people have asked me: ‘If Godzilla is really protecting us, why is he burning up the city?’ I would say: 'I have no idea: he’s Godzilla.'” Paskal: “Um, I think he’s showing them ‘Don’t mess with me. I need to do what I need to.’” Schlesinger: “Exactly.”

Yosh! The first Godzilla I saw in theaters. I must of been like in kindergarten or pre kindergarten. It’s one of my earlier memories. I went with my cousins too! Then all the games made this Godzilla the flagship. So a memorable design What I really like about the Japanese cuts is the alien communicating to the cast. The American version cut that out which is the only flaw I can think of for the American version Can’t forget the rob zombie commercial too

Although I grew up with this film, I feel like it's aged much worse compared to the previous Heisei Godzilla films. Mostly due to the animation and editing of the film which I don't even think looked good at the time. And although the idea of the design is pretty good, I don't like how Godzilla's head looks like a plastic mask, and somehow looks less real than every Heisei Godzilla since the 1984 film. I do think the film does well in trying different things, but I don't really think the story or monster scenes really have anything of substance and aren't well done in many ways.

Godzilla looks so so so plastic in this film. It was distracting
