Kamikaze pilots actually attended their own funeral ceremonies before flying their missions. Losing face is everything in Japanese culture. "Godzilla" is an Americanization of "Gojira", which is what they're saying, the name comes from combining the Japanese words for gorilla and whale.
@SmittyBirdie
@SmittyBirdie 3 месяца назад
That’s an interesting fact we didn’t know about with kamikaze pilots, and yes yes. When you pay close attention I believe during King of the Monsters on the intro it shows Godzilla and in parenthesis it says Gojira
@Nope2022HugeTheWarningFan
@Nope2022HugeTheWarningFan 3 месяца назад
Yeah, they aren't saying Godzilla. They're saying Gojira. In both 1998 and 2014 the first word was Gojira. The 98 version, the news reporter even gets the name wrong, which the lady who steals the footage of the old guy lying in bed after being attacked by Godzilla says he said the name wrong. In 2014, the two Monarch scientists call him Gojira. Later the guy in charge of the details regarding what the military is going to do with Gojira calls him Godzilla. It's a bit of humor due to the different names
@CyrusCariaga-g4j
@CyrusCariaga-g4j 3 месяца назад
Movie opens with the pride of Japan, the venerable Japanese Zero Fighter. Along with the fictional Odo Island and the monster "Gojira". The premise of the movie is the survivors of the "Tokyo Fire Bombing of March 10th, 1945." Mankinds worst, more casualties in one night & lost in history to the Hiroshima Bomb. As it was raining fire on Tokyo. December 1945, the "Black Market" scene introduced Noriko & Akiko to Koichi is brilliant; with it's vendors, harlots and rice runner. On March 1946, the one year anniversary of the "Tokyo Fire Bombing", ironically, Koichi is drenched in rain water instead of fire; shares he found a job. Another date shows the sinking of the "Takao" as it surprises Godzilla with bombs. The "Takao" was involved in the surprise attack of Pearl Harbor. On March 10th 2024, on the 79th anniversary of the "Tokyo Fire Bombing", Takashi Yamazaki & Crew is awarded the Oscar in Hollywood California. Takashi Yamazaki tells a great Japanese Post WII story using the great Japanese monster "Gojira", that people wouldn't be interested in anyway. Harley Davidson Motorcycle and the Japanese Imperial Army was a surprising discovery. As many others. The last line, Noriko looks to the side of the camera & says, "Is your war.....now, finally over."

While it does seem like she could have tackled both of them to safety, the amount of force required to move a larger person and oneself from a standstill stance would be tremendous . Much easier to just push someone when you have only a split second to make a move. If she tried to move them both, both would have likely been carried away in the explosion. Anyways great reaction.

@CookedSpringtrap

Plus when the shockwave fully hit Ginza, we're only seeing the true scale of it because time ran much slower for our eyes during the scene. Through the eyes of the citizens of Ginza, however, much like a real-life nuclear bomb scenario, the shockwave was incredibly fast, and there was nothing they could do except watch in pure terror as they were incinerated almost immediately after the explosion. Noriko only had a mere split-second decision to make, and that was to save Shikishima, so she did, nearly costing her life.

Godzilla franchise is older than Star Wars. The movie gives a lot of dynamic, life after WW2, Godzilla resemble as a atomic weapon and possibly WW3, a disgraceful kamikaze, family, a relationship that is not confirmed verbally, and the ending part of killing Godzilla is a reference of what Kamikazes supposed to do during WW2. Great movie for sure! The theme song is very ionic as well.

Seen almost every Goji movie, and this is by far the best of the whole franchise. They should be so proud of themselves for this masterpiece. As for other Goji movies, they vary so much in their level of quality and cheesiness, and you can jump in almost anywhere as only the movies from the 80s really have any continuity (and even them just barely). There are a number of dark and series ones, and they tend to be high water marks in the franchise, and there are ones so cheesy they're clearly made for kids (especially the ones made in the 70s). The other major serious takes are: Gojira/Godzilla King of the Monsters (original film), Godzilla Returns/Godzilla 1985 (Reboot, ignores all the movies made in the 60s and 70s) - American cut of both these movies are a bit different with an extra character, both cuts of both movies are about equally good, Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah (known as GMK by the fans, 2004? I believe), and Shin Godzilla (extremely dark, very good but slow burn). American 2014 movie falls in here too, but you say you've seen that. If you don't mind a little camp/cheese, almost bordering on old Jim Henson fantasy movies, Mothra vs Godzilla (1964) is a fan favorite, so is Invasion of Astro monster (which is VERY cheesy, but in the best way), Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla (1974), and basically any of the movies made in the 80s/90s (Heisei era movies). Millienium era movies are also a ton of fun, but other than GMK being a pretty serious take, they tend to dial the cheese to 11. American Legendary franchise is also a ton of fun, as long as you accept they're summer popcorn flicks and ignore the human characters.

I wasn't expecting Noriko to have survived. If the impact of hitting the ground after that shockwave from the Atomic Breath didn't kill her, the radiation surely would have. Yes, they still make and plant mines at sea. Now, the vast majority are laid using airplanes and submarines. Magnetic influencer mines were not terribly high-tech during WW2. Mine depth was also not terribly shallow, since the high priority targets were large military capital ships (Battleships, Aircraft carriers and Cruisers) as well as loaded transport ships. They wanted to destroy high value targets that were large and or heavily loaded with high priority commodities such as oil, rubber, fuel, and ammunition. Ships that had a shallow draft were either empty or of lower military value. so most mines varied from 20-50 ft of draft. They wanted deeper mines so that they could either break the keel or open up a large, irreparable holes near the bottom of the ship. They wanted the flooding to be so severe that closing bulkheads, pumping and counter flooding measures could not prevent the damaged ships from capsizing and sinking. Also, the loss of very needed resources to continue the war was imperative in forcing the enemy from being able to fight indefinitely, and thus shortening the war drastically. Also, you used the term Clip improperly. The proper term was Magazine. Very few weapons actually use a clip. The M1 Garand used a loaded (Enbloc) clip to reload. The clip would be ejected from the rifle when empty. Most weapons prior to the Vietnam War also used a device called a stripper clip to reload the weapons. Few modern weapons use clips. But there are still exceptions. The plane was a real prototype plane from the very end of WW2. I'm not certain, but I seem to remember that only 2 were ever built. Of course, the US captured them when our military occupied Japan after the surrender. Now on to the movie. This movie is very similar in concept to the very first Godzilla movie, produced in 1954. This movie is however on a totally different level and scale when it comes to writing and effects. The most outstanding part of this movie is the writing. No other Godzilla movie that I know of has ever been able to bring out the raw emotional response and capture it for the length of the movie. This movie has done something that no other monster movie in history has ever managed to do, make the majority of the audience cry.

So we haven’t seen LOTR trilogy but it is in our plans, we have both already watched Tombstone in the last, Smitty has seen 300 but I haven’t, I am not sure if she has Troy or not but I know I haven’t, Gladiator I believe she has seen but I haven’t yet. 300, Gladiator, & Troy will be in the plans though but we wont be able to get around to them until November.

I keep hearing reactors claiming that the handle to arm the bomb is the ejection seat. I understand the misunderstanding but when the mechanic says that it's to arm the bomb, that is what it is for. If it had been to eject the seat, he would have said as much. I believe that in a plane they have to arm the bomb before they use it because the turbulence of the plane could very well make it explode before they get to deploy it.

Shin Godzilla 2016 is my favorite Godzilla movie, Minus One is a close second. I recommend it, but many don't like it due to the story being somewhat of a satire. I'm not big on satires but I love Shin Godzilla. I didn't even realize it was a satire until it was being mentioned by everyone who reviewed it. Now, I gotta ask. Have you reacted to Nope 2022? That's my all-time favorite movie. Again, not everyone likes the movie. Some are distracted by a certain subplot in the movie that some don't understand how integral it is to the story and plot. I've seen it over 20 times, so I'm pretty familiar with it, and most who don't like the movie, I doubt they'd be willing to give it another chance. I can't claim to have understood the movie the first couple times watching it, but I enjoyed it enough to watch it a few times and then I started watching reactions. I've seen days upon days of reactions to Nope. I get disappointed when people don't like it, but it's fun to watch everyone react to it. There are some really crazy moments in the movie that are just hilarious to watch the confusion and utter terror on the faces of those who watch it.

Deception could always be in play, maybe he could have said oh yeah this is to arm the bomb when in reality it was the ejection seat to essentially force him to eject because maybe he thought he would never do it. It was the thought we had in the moment before the flashback displaying him showing which one is the ejection seat.

We have planned Shin Godzilla & Godzilla 1954 as a reaction & we are planning reactions for the Jordan Peele horror trilogy of Get Out, Nope, & Us.

@@SmittyBirdie I watched another reaction video and right when the bomb arming handle was pulled, they said, "I guess I was wrong about the ejection seat." Many seem to think even though the mechanic says the handle is for the bomb, I guess most just think it's an election seat because everyone wants there to be one. And there was one, just not the same handle. I apologize if I seem rude. It just trips me whenever someone decides they are talking about something they aren't. I can't wait to find your future videos.

@@SmittyBirdie Winning an Oscar is no longer an accomplishment. It's popularity has been plummeting faster than Godzilla down the trench. The academy gave them an Oscar to try to save face. This movie's greatest accomplishment is how it brought joy to so many people despite a shoestring budget.
