Fun fact: while this film was in production, the producers asked Akira Ifukube if they could use his music. He agreed, as long as they didn’t use his music in “pop” music. As most who saw the movie know, we got the “Bio Wars” track which was pretty much pop music which used a portion of Godzilla’s theme. Of course, Akira wasn’t too happy about that.
I can definitely see why, but he was upset that they would’ve put it in the pop music. He was one of the greatest Japanese composers of all time he will forever be missed and honestly his music of Godzilla will live on through fans worldwide
I wouldn't necessarily call Bio Wars pop -- I mean, by today's standard it kinda is, but back then that was an absolute banger, almost an outright metal version of the main theme (sorta like the 80-85 version of the Doctor Who theme was as well)
Love this song! At least this model of the 'Super-X' had one of the coolest weapons/ideas in a while. I think it was some type of extremely LARGE and expensive diamond..but it's ability to reflect Godzilla's Atomic Breath back at him was awesome! I remember seeing that when I was younger and being blown away! It's a shame that of the 3 Super-Xes, only the 3rd/last one from Godzilla VS Destroyah didn't get utterly decimated/crushed lol.
this particular track seems to go from Superman, Indiana Jones, back to superman, star wars, back to indy, and finishing off with superman in terms of theme motif. still awesome though, as is the rest of this soundtrack
This theme brings me so much nostalgia, since I was 3 years old I loved Godzilla, then in 2016 I used this theme in the Godzilla game on my PS3, it was epic how the super x appeared at the same time as Destroyah, I will never forget that moment .
Brodiger he still does. Even though his age is affecting the quality of his music... you can absolutely hear that this is totally Sugiyama quality. Super good music. And when needed it hits you right in the feels. I totally recommend looking up his Dragon Quest V, VII or VIII music if you like this. That music comes in terms of quality closest to this soundtrack.
Sander Adam I can tail actually I actually did meet him he’s pretty awesome and his music is really good especially in this film and dragon quest the franchise that’s what he is best known for
@@julesf.meloborges811 it isnt the biggest achievment of japan of course, but it has left a great impact on pop culture. but it really isnt the "japanese legacy".
Incognitus ah... The toho series. The good days. I mean Legendary is also good cause it's making Godzilla being turned into a Cinematic Universe (that being called Monsterverse)
I still think Godzilla 1985 and this film are the best Godzilla films ever made. They just have never been able to capture the quality of those 2 films since.
I agree, this does sound like the 1978, Superman: The Movie theme written by John Williams!!!. But, this is one of my favourite Godzilla movies, and this theme helped make it one of my favourites!!!.
alittle to gimmicky if you ask me the whole fire mirror thing 1 was relied on to much 2 didn't take long to fail and 3 should of had a backup like the laser cannos from the first not just missles
Gotta disagree. The first Super X wasn't great because it had the the masers it and the ground vehicles were using in Return of Godzilla, it was effective against Godzilla because it was using Cadmium missiles against him. Masers didn't effect Godzilla at all. It brought down Godzilla the first time in that movie because of it's missiles. The same could be applied in this movie, but they went with a biological agent instead this time instead of using Cadmium again.
They all had interesting, overpowering gimmicks. 1st one used Cadmium missiles which brought Godzilla down and was arguably more effective than Fire Mirror. 2nd is Fire Mirror. 3rd is Ice weaponry.
I've always preferred the original super x. I like the idea that it wasn't necessarily designed as an antigodzilla weapon but rather a secret defensive measure for the capital and yet it still brought Godzilla down. The 2nd one was ok.. looked like something out of the thunderbirds and the 3rd one just looks like a plane.
I can't decide whether or not this is better than the Super X1 theme in G85. The G85 one seemed to emphasize the heroism of the Super X1 against a much mightier foe, whereas the Super X2 theme is more triumphant and uplifting.
Based on this, I think we can assume that Koichi Sugiyama (the composer for 'Godzilla vs. Biollante') is a big fan of John Williams, in particular of Williams' 'Superman' theme.
Just a fun fact, the were considering this movie to be a superman crossover but it was left at the chopping board. And vs king ghidorah was going to be a remake of KKvG hence the east vs west akira ifakube reprise.
Forgot this was the Super X2's theme. I have the CD compilation of the Heisei films' music, and this track plays after the military march and for some reason I thought it was just the credits theme
Dragon Quest, Ideon and Godzilla vs Biollante, Sugiyama is my best composer before Akira Ifukube, John Williams, Michiaki Watanabe, Shunsuke Kikuchi, Takeo Watanabe, Shigeaki Saegusa, Toshiyuki Watanabe and Takayuki Hattori
