Kong is a better parent figure than any of the human parents in the movie.

We can't forget the scene where the mom literally locked herself and her daughter in a fucking closet of a boat while godzilla was destroying their entire fleet

I liked that Kong tried the classic grabbing the lower and upper jaw and prying it apart move but Godzilla just used super atomic breath and burnt his fingers every time he tried it.

The lizard crawly animals that ate the crabs in the hollow earth are completely new to the monsterverse! They basically set up this franchise to explore the hollow earth in the future. which they should!

Stranger things girl was like “ this podcast guy saved us” Me: ummm no, no he didn’t in fact, he didn’t help you even once the entire movie.

I deduct a point for no Japanese person screaming "Gojiraaa"

I don't think I can ever tire myself out from hearing Godzilla charging up his atomic breath

I’m loved how Godzilla was Un relentlessly brutal when he fought Kong. Big thanks to the director for not holding back when showing how ferocious he can be.

Am I the only one confused about why Millie Bobby was in this movie? Like they were just ninjas the whole movie and didn’t do anything lol

Only thing I didn’t like about this movie was the fact that pouring liquor on the computer was the main downfall of mecha-Godzilla lol

I like how theres a giant castle in the core of the earth with a massive throne and a statue of a kong like creature and they didnt bother to give any more world building about it.

Best moment of the movie was when Kong crushed the spoiled little brat's ship with her inside of it.... So satisfying!

When Godzilla charged Kong’s axe i literally felt like a kid again

I think the main thing that annoyed me about the whole “drink? Drink!” thing was that their trios whole side quested ended up in THAT. Plus, it didn’t actually DO anything! Mecha stutters for a literal half a second (I checked) then immediately comes back and pins Kong again, which leads to Mecha being defeated a different way. This means they could’ve removed the whole side quest and changed almost nothing.

best part of the movie is when Godzilla stepped down on Kong and roars in his face and Kong roars back and he was like, "aight you win but still, fuck you".

I think Kong submitting at the end makes sense for both characters. Godzilla is someone who won't back down even in a fight to the death. Kong has a sense of self preservation, making "this fight isn't worth it" a legitimate move for him.

They could’ve done more with mechagodzilla in my opinion. It just wasn’t as climactic as I would’ve hoped for.

Kong didn't drop the axe out of submission. He dropped it as a sign of mutual respect. It wasn't a "okay I give up" it was a "okay we just had a serious moment together. Truce?"

Man, Godzilla moved soooo much faster in this film.

Terminator Godzilla was how MechaGodzilla was introduced in his first movie, wtf Joe

This movie was also the first time I’ve seen Godzilla “smile”.

The scene where Godzilla blows a hole into Hollow Earth is actually one of my favorite scenes. Yes it is very convenient it goes in the right location but it was so fucking badass. Godzilla just casually makes a hole to the center just so he can call out Kong, like “come up here, bitch let’s go”. I thought it was a huge flex

The humans saved Kong's life at least three times in this movie, so yeah. I always knew Godzilla would take Kong in a fight, but honestly I am surprised they actually had the balls to definitively pick a winner instead of some cheap cop out to avoid picking a side like so many other Vs. movies out there. Just for that this movie gets props from me. I enjoyed this film.

Today I learnt that when the US nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki and occupied Japan they censored all news about the nuclear fallout. To cut a long story short, Godzilla was partly a way for japan to express fears of this nuclear devastation and fallout. Godzilla's skin was even modelled on the radiation burns that people get.

First scene Godzilla was in ALL I Could think about was, GODZILLA IS APPROHING THE GENERATOR,THE GENERATOR IS LOSING POWER!

Mechagodzilla with godzilla's skin then revealed terminator style never been done before? Um joe. That was what happened the first time mechagodzilla showed up in the old school toho films. It was mecha wearing godzilla's skin.

Maddie's dad, Dr. Mark Russell (played by Kyle Chandler) is a descendant of actor Bruce Baxter (also played by Kyle Chandler in Peter Jackson's King Kong). ...that's my fan theory anyway.

I loved how they had an entire list of Monsters that Godzilla has beat and Kong only had the Skull crawler from Skull Island

I loved how the evil corporation could immediately replicate a power source they'd never seen before just because they got a tiny sample of it .... lol.

The reason there is no end credit scene is because there is no contract to continue the monsterverse. It was only planned to be built around 4 films. They are currently talking about continuing the monsterverse due to the success of Kong Vs Godzilla.

The alien story is not that bad. Because Gidorah is an alien too.

When Kong dropped the axe it was him acknowledging that Godzilla was not his enemy , they both went their separate ways after that and ended their ancient rivalry.

The idea of king ghidorah skull controlling mecha Godzilla came from the old movie Godzilla against mechagodzilla. The plot of that movie was that there was two Godzillas but the original Godzilla was destroyed with the oxygen destroyer so scientists used the bones of that dead Godzilla to make there own mechgodzilla also known as Kiryu ,but they later find out after piloting it that the mech becomes possessed by the soul of the first Godzilla.

WTF? Kong didn't kneel he just recognized that godzilla is not an enemy. Because the girl told him he has to fight with him.

I was expecting a fist bump in the end and the Line drop for "Godzilla and Kong will return in Avengers 5" 😂😂

No lie. Mecha Godzilla was delivering a batman Esque beating to Godzilla before Kong came.

scott fiebe I took the Kong dropping the axe as him showing he doesn't want to be king, he doesn't want to fight, he just wants to go home. They showed the whole film Kong being home sick and doing anything to get home. To me it showed how one wanted to beat everyone and be king and the other really tried to avoid and protect what it considered family and it's search for other family.

Kong kept trying to break godzilla's jaw. That's why he was spamming the atomic breath.

The child told kong that Godzilla wasn't the enemy. Lol that's why kong didn't try to attack zilla after.

The guys seem to have forgotten that Kong only beat MG because Godzilla helped to charge up his axe for him. It was a team effort in the end.

So it the end, Kong became the king of the hollow earth while Godzilla ruled the surface. Cannot wait for future installment.

The most important thing that they did right in this movie was that they did not hide the monsters behind fog and rain, You can actually see what is happening in this.

Y’all are forgetting that Kong getting an electric shock from the defibrillator is a call back to his juiced up lightning powers from the original in 1962

I think my biggest issue with this movie was just how much of a departure it was from everything else in the monsterverse. Like Godzilla king of the monsters was a fairly big step in terms of campiness and just overall distance from the two movies that went before it. But then this one went even further and it doesn't really feel like it is part of the same universe anymore. It is like watching Avengers 1 and then following it up with infinity War, both are really good but there is so much distance between them that unless you have all of the filler to let you know how you got from A to B it really would not feel like they are in the same universe. On some in the entire Millie Bobby Brown subplot could have been removed and spend more time in the hollow Earth. But other than that this movie was so much fun and don't get me wrong I was so happy to see the showa era camp come back. I just wish they kept it a bit more in line with the universe.

Anyone notice how all the buildings on the final fight scene took damage EXCEPT the bank of china building? Lmao

for the ending i actually interpret Kong dropping the axe as a declaration of truce between 2 species cause we did learned in the film that they have been at war with each other for millions of years or something like that. Kong's axe is made out of a piece of a Godzilla's spike thingy, there's this mural of Godzilla on the floor in the Kong's temple in Hollow Earth... so the movie did kinda ended as a tie between Kong and Godzilla as well cause they earned mutual respect. this also gives me an idea that the next movie could be the monsters are starting to view humans as a threat, cause they witnessed the power of MechaGodzilla and how this human creation could even compete with them in becoming the new apex predator.

I didn’t think him dropping the axe was him surrendering, I thought it was Kong burying the hatchet.

I was rooting for Godzilla since everyone always wants to root for Kong and some one had to be on Godzilla’s side! That being said, Kong is too adorable whenever he was sad I felt it. So I ended up switching sides a lot but ultimately rooting for the King of Monsters!! Although I was genuinely surprised they let Godzilla win since the film seems to be on Kong side but he did put up a good fight.

Kept skipping through the credits for an epilogue scene where it shows Kong finding other Giant Apes like himself

After I watched this movie I really felt there's a 3 hours long director's cut with a lot of scenes explaining more stuff and with more character development. It really feels like a lot was cut in between the fight scenes just to hurry up and get to the action.

Did i know mechagodzilla would be in the movie? Yes Did it dampen my experience with the movie? Hell no

The thing is, Godzilla was always more focused on Mecha Godzilla, he went to Tokyo for Mecha not Kong, so it makes a bit of sense that he didnt insta kill Kong. He just wanted Kong to submit but always been more focused on the other threat. I loved that nuance.. alot better than the Martha theme

Mechagodzilla in this film just looks straight up badass. It's like the terminator, hal 9000, the Death star, the jaegers, iron man and godzilla converged into one.

Joe did you notice that the Mosaic of the Godzilla that was glowing around cons Throne actually had more axes embedded in it and it was actually an arsenal of axes

14:16 Toho's contract only lasted to 2020, which they extended to 2021 for Godzilla Vs Kong. Adam Wingard didn't want to add in an end-credit scene just for there to be no more new MonsterVerse movies, in the case of Toho not renewing the contract.

Honestly, if they can make the movie 70% monster, 20% World-Lore, 10% human-yada, that'd be awesome

Yeah, the "downloading the power source" scene was the stupidest thing in the film, I mean, it's not an MP3 file.

I’m genuinely surprised that the weight of these monsters, especially both of them on top of the same ship, DID NOT sink the aircraft carrier!

It feels rushed is a GIANT understatement

So here's how I saw it. Godzilla beat Kong like twice (in water and on land) but then Mecha-G kicked Godzilla's ass. Then Godzilla's life is saved by Kong by teaming up and taking down Mecha-G, with Kong probably pulling more weight for that kill than Godzilla. At the end of the movie, Kong doesn't drop the axe because he's afraid to fight Godzilla, he drops it because the little girl tells him that Godzilla isn't his enemy. Kong realizes that a petty fight that kills all his humans is stupid so he is the bigger man and says "nah, I don't gotta fight you, you know I'd win with this axe 🪓" and Godzilla just walks away because he agrees that the humans shouldn't get hurt since they're all friends now.

I actually got SPOOKED when Zilla boi was RUNNIN' on all fours LEAPING at opponents now like DAMN. He's so BULKY compared to his like 90s design I thought that would be his weakness; too slow. He certainly seemed pretty slow in the 2014 film. But nah. He was just GOIN for Kong and I was like "oh....OH. *high pitched voice* oh okay."

It is SO utterly painful hearing Joe say, "They've never done mechagodzilla wearing skin to look like godzilla" when that was what they did the first time he fucking appeared

How many movies are they going to do the whole parent looking for their kid in the middle of a disaster finds them hug them and all is forgiven thing.

I love how subtle the message was in this movie. The "who started it" doesn't matter because in the end if the fight is to stop one needs only put down their weapon. Yes if the other decides to continue fighting, defend yourself, but if only we humans could stop the fight and put down our weapons we would see that the world could be the place we thought it was when we were children.
