Rodan tried REALLY hard. That's all the poor guy could do in this film. Felt bad watching him get bopped the way he did but good on him for giving that all or nothing effort to protect his clutchmate.
One of my favorite kaiju fights from the Godzilla franchise! GvsMG2 was the first time I ever saw Rodan in a Godzilla movie and I've always remembered this fight scene between him and Godzilla since I was a kid. I was extremely disappointed that Godzilla and Rodan never fought each other in KOTM. Aside from King Ghidorah, Godzilla never interacts with ANY of the other monsters in KOTM until the very end! For a movie that was heavily advertised as an all-out monster brawl and re-establishing Godzilla as the titular "King of the Monsters", I found KOTM to be a MASSIVE letdown! :(
I'm sorry to see that you were dissapointed in godzilla king of the monsters, but at least it did the best job since this film, since godzilla final wars kind of messed up rodan. For me my favorite fight is between godzilla and destoroyah, it has the perfect mix of physical combat and laser attacks, as well as making it all brutal and also the fact that the fight was relatively long with a lot of stuff happening in it including the death of godzilla jr and godzilla himself, which I think the movie handled perfectly. But this film was pretty good too, but my favorite scene is when godzilla is destroying mechagodzilla after the fire battle.
Also If your interested I created a Godzilla final wars vs Godzilla 1989 comic book, if your interested in godzilla stuff or films I would appreciate if you checked it out and let me know your thoughts on it.
@@nerdsman567 I wasn't trying to say that it was an excuse for rodan being wasted, I also think mothra was made to be really weak, especially compared to the heisei or even the showa version of mothra.
@@nerdsman567 I loved KOTM, but like you indicated, the problem for me was that they shrunk down Rodan's original 1960's size, because they wanted Godzilla to shine more. The 1960's version of Rodan was able to just about fight Godzilla to a stand still, and Rodan's wings absorbed King Ghidorah's gravity beam blasts. In that, I agree with you in that I liked the older tougher version of Rodan much better. The Japanese version was better, but the U.S. producers/writers change things not always for the better. To bad!
This is by far one of the best fights in the Heisei Series. Great action. Great music. Rodan is so tenacious and courageous. One of the reasons why he is my favorite kaiju. Such an underrated fight.
@@nerdsman567 I was more disappointed that Rodan and Ghidorah didn’t get a longer fight. That was the most anticipating scene that I had high hopes for the most when the trailers came out.

Y'all aren't watching the same thing? From what I saw yeah Rodan lost but he kicked Godzilla's ass the whole fight and then after was turned into Fire Rodan and sacrificed himself to save Godzilla and son so y'all tripping Rodan is AWESOME
Rodan is one of the realest mother fuckers. Badass was taking care of another Kaiju's kid, fought with the baby's Daddy, got his ass kicked, then manned up and took a shot for the Kid's sake. Fuck Fire Rodan. Bring Rodan back as PURPLE HEART RODAN.
This fight is; the rest is just stupid looking designs throwing beams at each other while unlikable humans make inane comments and poor decisions...in other words, how a Godzilla film shouldn't be made.
A Jaded Lizard Why use melee when all of them have powerful range weapons. You try to hold a knife in battlefield against a soldier that use gun. Beam battle is a realistic Kaiju fight, not some robots punching Kaijus in the face and got ripped apart.
@@OldZilla Ah, Jesus, you've written a fucking thesis to a RU-vid comment *from four years ago.* I hope it was good for you because I can't be bothered to read this. I will, however, point out that Emiko Ogata is a Showa-era character.
Actually its implied that godzillasaurus are parasitic in a way. Like some birds, they lay eggs in the nests of other animals so the latter has to take care of the offspring
actually it's from this movie, the suit is the water suit which has a certain look to it, and is very obviously not the suit in 1991, since it didn't exist until this film.
@@S.K.R.E.Inc. well it's not stock footage, the showa godzilla design is very obvious, as well as it being set during the day. You can't take a daytime shot and make it a nighttime shot without it being obvious. Also the suit just isn't even close to looking the same, you could see showa godzilla's big eyes from a mile away.
