@@doctabaldhead Because the tones and objectives are completely different. You wouldn't compare Taken and Schindler's List would you? Despite the fact they both stare Liam Neeson?
Imma say few things; Kong using Mini-Kong to beat up other apes was hilarious I like how long the movie dared to go on with just Kong and other monsters with no interruption I also think that Skar-King was surprisingly entertaining villain with personality despite not speaking - he ain't no Silco, but he was fun
When Kong got to the scar kings area I couldn't stop thinking "wha do they do down here?" They move rocks around? There's nothing there but rocks and lava.... WHAT ARE THEY DOING DOWN THERE????
Likely just for an unexplained purpose. They probably moved the rocks to a place where they could be turned into weapons or better material. Who knows? Who cares. Doesn’t really matter in the long run, So why spend the time elaborating on such a small detail.
As a lifelong Godzilla fan, I will tell you guys that this movie was a blast. I loved it, it's a fantastically fun addition to the franchise. It's not even the same genre as G -1, and that is not a problem in the slightest.
These critics put too much emphasis on the "writing," comparing it to a movie that had a completely different direction. They may both be Godzilla movies, but they aren't comparable in the way they attempt to tell their stories. One's a retelling of OG Zilla, which is fine. One's a spiritual successor of Showa/Heisei era films. Which is fine. Negativity sells.
Couldn't agree more. This is right up there with Pacific Rim in the category of cheesy but so damn enjoyable it doesn't matter how cheesy it is. It plays out like a Saturday morning cartoon or a two-parter anime episode of over-the-top monster mayhem. For those of us who have been fans of Godzilla for a long time this last decade has been an absolute feast and I'm here for it. Minus One was incredible of course but not everything has to be as serious as that movie.
True. I still prefer King of the Monsters because I can tell that there was emotion put into it. The humans sucked ass and there was a horrible balance between those scenes and the actual fights, but good lord did the fights actually feel like they had an impact (GxK’s fights felt completely meaningless, therefore all the action was just slop). Plus they knew how to make audiences empathize with Godzilla instead of turning him into a complete dick who just one shots kaiju that literally maintain the balance of the areas they live in. That’s like killing thousands of honey bees because you got stung by one. But the worst part about it was definitely how they fed the stereotype that “GoDzIlLa Is JuSt a BiG dUmB lIzArD!1!1!”
Human characters in this film outside of when the gaurd died were actually fairly reasonable in their responses such as when they discovered that the area they were in may not be safe and instantly one was like “we should get back in the ship” and then they did
My only complaint is that I wish Godzilla and Mothra got to do little more. Kong being the focus makes sense, he's more human and has a clear goal. I just would have liked to see Godzilla either take out more gorillas, or get a big finishing move on one of the two antagonists. Mothra not joining the last fight felt weird to me. Still I had fun. Shimo and Skar King were great new monsters. And it was nice getting to see Mothra more clearly. I'm all for comic-booky fun kaiju movies.
They’re probably saving Godzilla and mothra for a solo film. If so, I would be so hyped for it. Mothra needs more screen time in the MV, and Godzilla needs another film to himself.
Its not trying to win oscars, its trying to be fun. And if you cant just sit there and have fun seeing a giant nuclear lizard suplex a giant gorilla in front of a pyramid then I'm sorry man lol
@itzstitched3843, are you serious? because i genuinely enjoyed the movie, including the human parts bernie and trapper were the highlighting humans of the movie BY far
No it's not...I haven't forgot Godzilla drop kicking Megalon with Jet holding him and I won't forget godzilla suplexing Kong and Kong dragging godzilla to the portal....just epic
Frankly, this universe just does not appeal to me. The novelty of seeing this stuff on screen with modern CGI has worn off. I am now more bored watching Godzilla and Kong fight random monsters than I am watching older movies where the majority of the scenes are just two people talking
I like that woke propaganda still exist with monkeys. A male monkey making a female monkey do what he wants and I'ma guess the woman monkey isn't really evil. @@colten53
I said it before and I'll say it again, you dont go watch a boxing match for the writing. I did feel that this was one of the weaker monsterverse movies but thats mostly because you can tell the director or writers or someone doesnt like godzilla and just wants to minimise them as much as possible. The bits where kong was just going around doing his thing were great and I wish the did half as much for godzilla.
Movies can be whatever they are made to be. You dont go to watch citizens kane or something and complain about the lack of fight scenes. The story in GxK is as dumb as a bag of hammers but it never pretended that it wasnt or tried not to be, it knows exactly what it is. GxK isnt the godfather, its dragonball Z. Its not trying to be a 5 star restaurant experience, its trying to be a big doner kebab you buy drunk on your way home from a night out.
@@elessarismail3717bruh better then your animation you need to actual create videos and a real channel then using a bot account if you want talk trash and stuff let’s see your animations and videos
Even though he didn't like the movie, I actually respected his opinion. Because unlike all of the other critics, he didn't compare this movie to minus one.
@@addison_v_ertisement1678 some of the critics make it a bad thing though. Because they complain that GxK isn't dark and serious like minus one, not understanding that both movies fall into to different genres. Not every godzilla movie has to be serious and grounded.
@@m.g.zilla2239 The Monsterverse was grounded before, it's devolved. When people compare Minus One to it it's mainly because it's objectively a much tighter written and grounded film, which doesn't mean inherently dark, but it's also what many people were hoping the 2014 MV movie would've been closer to and lamenting that the series charged in the complete opposite direction into this pseudo Showa nonsense (while ignoring that Showa often had it's own anti-war/nuke symbolism and messaging, which is completely absent aside from surface level unrelated shit here). Technical aspects like visuals, sound design, music are all fair game for criticism and Minus One blows this and the previous 2 MV films out of the water to a hilarious degree when it really shouldn't.
Im fine with Mcnuggets. I know what I'm getting into. I had a drink, I enjoyed it. Sometimes I just want spolisions. Is it Godzilla minus one.....no. is it dumb fun....yes. some times, that's enough. Plus, good to see Dan Stevens. Watch Legion!
GxK was exactly what it was marketed as, a movie where giant monsters fight, yes the plot didn’t make almost any sense other than to get cool action shots but that doesn’t matter, they received the backlash that GVK gave them which was less human characters that we don’t care about and more monsters, the monster verse has progressively given us more and more of that. So yeah would I award this movie with anything? No, but I got what I paid for and I was happy
@matteomastrodomenico1231 has the bar been always so low that "oh it does the bar minimum for the set parameters" that things like VS megalon, a movie that literally has Godzilla as a afterthought is good for these people?
The reason why Gia is the last living member of the Iwi tribe in Skull Island is because King Ghidorah's Category 6 hurricanes that merge with the surrounding storm barrier.
It’s stupid for people to expect this to be some Shakespeare movie and compare it to Godzilla minus one. GXK is supposed to be a fun action monster movie, people wanna see that and Legendary is giving the fans what they want and that’s what matters. Even Toho loved GXK and loves what Legendary is doing and want more
@@DireNemesis Dude it’s movie with monsters fighting each other. It’s a dumb fun action movie that fans want. Doesn’t need to have a great story like Minus one cause fans hate that, that’s why they hated 2014 Godzilla
@@DireNemesis Cause some of u idiots keep tryna compare it to minus it or been whining and b!tching about the story when it’s a monster mayhem movie about monsters fighting. It has some flaws but it stuck to what it is and gave the fans what they want. It doesn’t need a story when fans just wanna see monsters fighting
@@Based_Gigachad_001 Nowadays, yes. There was a time where you remembered action movies forever, like Die Hard, Robocop, Rambo 2, and Terminator 2, just to name a few.
The fact that godzilla and kong moves so fast like they are weightless kinda reminds me of Pacific rim uprising one of the jeager do the front flip and people said GxK CGI is the best 💀
I've seen a lot of things from this franchise Godzilla teaming up with Rodan and Mothra then teaming up with jet Jaguar and zone fighter Godzilla having a son minilla The Godzilla drop kick Godzilla and Anguirus talking Mechagodzilla making Godzilla bleed King Kong shoving a tree down Godzilla through Kong shoving a axe handle down Godzilla through Godzilla and Rodan on another planet Seeing Godzilla Mothra and Kong together in a movie together for the first time to fight skar king and shimo is just awesome and up there with fun and awesome moments🔥🔥🔥
I'm glad we have a movie like this out. Shows how many different approaches Godzilla can take. One film can be about trauma and the effects of war can have on a country and the people, and another film can have a big ape riding a giant lizard towards another big ape riding another giant lizard.
This literally the type of movie that Godzilla for the late showa era. Minus one, Gojira, Gmk, Shin are more different to each other than this movie is too vs megalon.
What I like about the American Godzilla/Kong movies is they're just leaning into what they are. They're silly movies with silly lore and they're not embarrassed about that. You kinda need a few dumb, non-pretentious movies to offset the glut of fart sniffing garbage we have been enduring. And they're probably setting up a baby Kong and baby Zilla movie. Which sounds awful but I'm all for it.
Really depends on what kind of zilla movie you are watching. Sometimes he's the hero, the antihero, the villian, or a sort of metaphoric message. Minus one wasnt really about godzilla much he was more of a symbol of postwar trauma.
@@insertnamehere259 The last two American Godzilla movies have been King Kong movies where Godzilla has played a supporting role, despite the fact that he gets top billing over Kong in the titles smfh
the mc nugget comparison is interesting because I cant relate. There's times when I crave some mc nuggets, there's never really a time I crave specifically this type of movie.
As a raccoon I say this movie is 10/10 But ngl it was actually really good Like really really good And it has a bunch of heart and passion into it Me personally This is a 11/10
I grew up watching the Bay Transformers movies, I remember all of them and will forever and I'll forever love them. I didn't even know there was a first Godzilla vs Kong movie and won't care about anything about them either and probably will forget that they exist in another week.
Why is this becoming a trend to have an X between 2 rival-ish characters' names? There's Godzilla x Kong and soon there will be the Sonic x Shadow game. Maybe it's a big joke for anyone foolish enough to look up the titles online without filter search on.
hollywood nowaday just throw all budget into VFX and let AI write the plot, so no-brainers audience can "oh..wow.." then forget everything after that btw, i immediately know the result in of the 3rd wish xD
Imma be frank, I am a bit of a fan of the serious Godzilla movies, but I also do enjoy myself a spectacle movie with big lizard and big monkey fighting other big lizard and monkey. It ain’t for everyone I know but honestly it feels like one of those fun-to-watch old Godzilla movies with the flying dropkick and the victory dance
There is no way, shape, or form anyone that has a synapse firing in their brain can forget Godzilla doing a standing, vertical suplex on Kong. or Kong using Suko like a pair of nunchukus. This movie was LOADED with memorable moments.
Ok, so hearing that there is a “deeper” part of the hollow earth just gave me flashbacks to that old cartoon “Slugterra.” Where they are already in the “Caverns” which are underground pockets of livable space that host human and humanoid civilizations… but as we find out there are DEEPER caverns cut off from the normal caverns where this evil race live… Also wait… if the “subterranean” place is “below” Hollow Earth… wouldn’t that technically make it closer to the surface? Since any direction you dig in Hollow Earth would bring you “closer” to the surface of Earth?(aka the top of the mantle)
I think it’s more layers, kinda like an onion. So it’s hard to assume that there are more holes within hallow earth itself. I mean Hallow earth is like the ocean itself largely unexplored, plus in future movies this gives the writers time to world build.
Think you for being fair with this review cause i really enjoy seeing diffrent opinons on this film doesn't master if its postive or negetive and i enjoyed this review
I watched PenquinzO moist meter, but I didn't expect it to be so boring when I saw it. Im also getting really annoyed by all these monster downsizing. I liked when godzilla killed one or two monsters and serving was cool, alittle rivalry with scar king and godzilla. The movie felt short not enough godzilla
@Possum Reviews - Cool and Awesome videos. Also hoping that you get a chance to review 1995's Cruel Jaws, 2011's Tied In Blood and 2015's Shark Exorcist. That's all. Respect.
"Godzilla X Kong Is One Of Those Movies You Forget As Soon As It's Over" Okay bro, cool theory. Now if You'll excuse me, I'll go replay the Peak that was the Zero Gravity scene in my head a couple dozen more times.
That’s really sad, since the MonsterVerse began as a universe that was supposed to make Godzilla more semi realistic while also being able to have awesome fights and reappearances of classic Godzilla foes, but this time 10x more expressive. To see that it’s just complete slop now is a disappointment. As someone who got into Godzilla because of the 2014 Gareth Edwards film, watching this movie was like torture.
Why do people say this with like every damn movie now, lol I get humor is different for everyone but there were MAYBE only a few scenes I could see that could be unintentionally funny because of how “dumb” they were
@@insertnamehere259 because most movies coming out nowadays are really bad and it just makes you laugh. Whenever I see something poorly made it is just humourous
It is interesting that you said it is one of those movies you forget as soon as you see it because the only time that happened to me was when I saw ISS International Space Station
"Godzilla x Kong is One of Those Movies You Forget as Soon as It's Over," Ironic because Godzilla fans haven't forgotten about it and you are the same person who said, "I think you would be disappointed that Mechagodzilla is only at the end of the movie and dies almost immediately," despite that the film is called Godzilla VS Kong and the statement is false. . Just saying, sometimes you make points that can easily be disproven.
"Evil Monkey people.." is this a "Congo" sequel, yeah... thats how old I am... cuz is THAT where the evil killer apes went after that movie?? Cuz they didnt die at the end of "Congo" after all??? Had high hopes till you put it like all this
@@robertagu5533 You know, I remember hearing for YEARS that Congo was this massive box office flop but it all actuality it grossed a little over three times its budget.
yeah nope, no way. godzilla suplexing kong, kong turning suko into a weapon, godzilla turning scylla into a crab risotto, yeah i will remember all of those for awhile. nothing forgettable about this movie. maybe some of the human characters maybe for some people. but they were ok.
This movie was not minus one but boi did i get entertained. The movie is dumb in a good way and it just exists to be a dumb movie . I really enjoyed it although the final battle felt meh and the humans felt unrealistic. But other than than that it was a pretty good movie
Movie was fun I watched it yesterday I really good showa inspired movie adapted for modern audiences. If your expecting a serious Godzilla movie like shin 2014 or minus one then you’ve come to the wrong place.
It is crazy how the same IP can produce such wildly different movies less than a year apart. Anyway I gave up on the Monsterverse movies after King of Monsters. The human element is usually kind of bad in kaiju movies but good lord I hated that entire family.
I was hoping it was fun, but absolutely everything looks conveniently designed to be marketable as toys. I'm convinced Godzilla was made to be skinnier to use less plastic
Remember kids, it's okay to do something and act a certain way as long as everyone else is doing it. That's what magically makes this movie good, the fact that it's just as bad as everything else that's come out nowadays.
