Shimo looks so done with life 🤣 looks menacing when fighting but she looks like a tired grandma when she is calm, they did a great job with her facial expressions. I also like how they didn't make her submit to Godzilla like other titans. It really makes her seem like she is THAT old. Old enough to not even care about the fighting or titles, she just wants her peace.

The writers did her justice. She seems like an overpowered pacifist. 🐢 Shimo and Scar King were a joy to watch. I really hope the writers don't try to milk her too much after this and just let her be a pacifist grandma chilling in hollow earth going forth.

I have a theory about shimo: when she got free of skar king she decided to follow kong on her own choice, but it could also be that because she has been captive her whole life. She doesnt know how to be free again so she went to kong because he saved her from skar kings control

Strong theory, but I think she chose to stay with Kong coz she has respect for him but she has free will even with staying at Kongs side. Think of it as that stray cat that you adopted but you let it go outside and enjoy its own separate life whilst still living with said cat.

Well she’s hurt Kong before and she easy killed scar. I think she’s smart enough to know how strong she is especially after seeing them fight. I also think she saw kings kindness when he was down there and how very very very different he was to scar king. King never raised his hand to her, he never raised his hand to another ape that didn’t attack him. I think she has at least as much intelligence as Godzilla is does and can see cause and effect

Shimo went with Kong because: 1. Godzilla would not allow her to be on surface. 2. Shimo just like other Apes was captive of Skar King, so once freed from Skar King they are all in the same situation again so they decided to stay together. 3. Kong and Zuko freed Shimo so she is cool with them.

@@Dunno683 makes no difference to Godzilla if he is weaker or stronger than Shimo, he would not allow her on the surface. Even if he dies enforcing this. Also he commanded Shimo to freeze the Skar King so Shimo obviously considers Godzilla to be Alpha.

Is it just me, that really hates that people call Shimo Skar King's pet/Kong's pet. She deserves respect as well, since she's the oldest walking titan and considered The Mother of all Titans.

According to the novelization, the crystal might be part of Shimo's back. And that Shimo did freeze Ghidorah but not directly. Basically Godzilla already defeated Ghidorah and as Ghidorah was knocked out, Shimo already started the ice age.

No. I think shimo did freeze ghidorah. Probably head on. In hallow earth when shimo and godzilla fought with the antigravity in play, shimo nearly froze godzilla completely until mothra intervened, if mothra hasn't saved godzilla he would've been completely frozen

I love Shimo as soon as she appeared out of lava in the movie, I honestly think she is just a very peaceful docile Alpha Titan, more like a housedog to me. Now Kong has her by his side, that's a really great combination I think. As for her to cause Ice Age, there should be a great explanation behind that story, she might have done that for a valid reason.

Bruh what if, just what if toho grants Legendary the right to kill Godzilla and we get his meltdown death and shimo is the one to stop his death from causing a catastrophic extinction event, it makes sense and would make for an emotional and spiritual ending that could leave an impact on the monsterverse.

I thought that line where they mentioned a Gojira eating a star was weird and I thought the Iwi predicted that Godzilla was going to absorb the sun blasts to evolve but it could also mean that there is a possibility of space Godzilla coming in the Monsterverse which is awesome (Also while I was typing out this comment I typed Godzilla with a lowercase g and it added the red underline on it but when I changed the g into a capital g the red underline disappeared which is actually kind of funny. 2:05 “Since there is only one we know of.” If you are talking about the axe that isn’t true, we saw in GvK when Kong puts the axe on the ground and it begins lighting up that giant outline of Godzilla, when he puts it down you can see other axes on the floor beginning to light up, my guess is that Kong’s specific axe could be from Godzilla, but my guess is that all of the axes aren’t from him

Saw it 2 times Thursday once on Easter and just got home from treating a friend to it today. They did a really good job. I just wished Godzillas fight with the giant spider and the sea serpent lasted a little longer. His fight with Kong was Hilarious. I loved How relatable Kong was and his expression was amazing just drew you in. I hope this movie hit a Billion in the box office or close too it! Loved it!

I’ll agree with the OP tho, I wish the fight scenes were a little longer, and I kinda feel like the final battle was anticlimactic. Regardless, an epic movie.

There's something that I noticed at the end of the movie. That was that shimo looked like she looked up to godzilla and wanted to go with him and follow him, but for some reason, she ended up going with Kong for some reason and I think that's mostly because she probably wanted to help the apes out of the depths before she could go to godzilla. What do you guys think?

Besides, they told me that in the novel the two now had a bond

If memory serves from Godzilla v Kong, the axe turned up inlaid with an entire Gojira skeleton in the floor surrounding the throne of the Kong. This would lead me to think it was not Godzilla that donated the dorsal plate, but the skeleton from some more dominant Gojira ancestor that predated both Titan Wars, and established the Kongs only in the middle-middle-Earth and Skull Island.

I rewatch GvK: Original the day of GvK: NE and noticed that there was actually numerous godzilla plate axes where Kong first picked it up. The one he grabbed just happened to be made from bone as well, but the other axes in that area looks to have wooden hilts. There we numerous scenes in GvK where Kong's axe actually had a glowing hilt (red) so I am wondering if the ancient godzillas were similar to burning godzillas. Does that mean its a easter egg for burning godzilla to rereturn?

I agree. I would love it if Serizawa's son not only survived GVK secretly but has been influenced greatly by Ghidorah's mind, if not taken over. (Kinda like Pacific Rim) Also, I would love to see that eco-terrorist again. We got a solid choice of human protagonists now, so if they come back, they'd make for good human antagonists.

Kong weapon is made from one of Godzilla back scales. In Godzilla vs Kong it happened and then when they were fighting, Godzilla blasted his beam at it and it's been charged up every since.

I’m really impressed how Shimo could toe to toe with Godzilla compared to Scylla and Tiamat. I believe she has comparable durability and raw power as Godzilla, knowing the fact the alpha has had to recharge before facing her.

A Rodan solo film would be awesome. Maybe as an Apple+ release? It could be a comedy where Rodan is the only monster who has subtitles. Even when he interacts with other monsters we only see what Rodan is saying. I think it would be funny seeing one sided conversations with other titans. And may we could get a better insight how the Titans feel about Godzilla and Kong. And in Rodans solo movie he could start out as the villain but by the end becomes an anti hero trying to stop a bigger threat. Also Destroyah could make a comeback. As I recall, in "King of the Monsters", There was a Bomb that was used on Godzilla and King Ghidorah. Like in the other movie from Toho, it could have accidentally created it with the mix of the Bomb and Godzillas DNA and maybe something else. Like the other plot, Humanity Would accidentally create their own monster. This could be a good plot idea of introducing Destroyah into the Monsterverse.

Unfortunately, I think that if the next threat also involves both Kong and Godzilla, Shimo will die, which will be the catalyst. Mithras CANT really die, and on top of that, since the movies use expressions to convey what the “monsters” are thinking, it will be easier to show Kong conveying sadness. Alternatively, Godzilla could “die” and it could be Mothra seeking out Kong and Shimo to help, where he is brought back with hollow earth energy. It could also just be a solo Godzilla movie, but I feel like they’ve gotten to a point where every new movie will involve most of the characters, at the very least Godzilla and Kong.

The next movie, and hopefully there is a next, should be Godzilla, after getting his ass kicked, seeks out Kong for help. The writers need to realize, while there is a continuity, each movie is a new story. So, in a build up, the next one should show Kong as a complete bad ass in his fights against other monsters in hollow Earth, and Godzilla a complete bad ass in his fights on the surface world. This will show the audience just how tough these two are prior to the main threat. Build that first. Then, the new threat comes, and totally kicks Godzilla's ass. Then the team up. No more fights between Godzilla and Kong. Just a relationship where they leave each other alone, and can call on the other for help if needed. And in the battle with this next threat they have to BOTH be taken to the limit, and ONLY BECAUSE THEY WORKED TOGETHER was the threat defeated, barely. Then a respectful ending between the two.

I don't think that she is "obeying Kong". I think she appreciates what Kong has done for her and she has found a trusted ally. Maybe she is happy to have a Kong by her side instead of holding her in bondage. Pretty simple really. Now that Kong has his family I don't think he'll WANT to come up so he be happy staying down in the hollow world.

I really didn’t like how humanized the titans were in the movie. The whole sense of wonder was because of them being titans, beings beyond our understanding. Plus, Shimo and Godzilla looked more like pets to Kong and Scar King rather then two beings that destroyed Gods at some points 😭
