Weirdly, Grimlock isn’t a bad mold to start with a Godzilla transformer. It would need some pretty hefty retooling, but it could work. Oh yeah and make it Titan scale.

The head on the Megatron is Sludges. They originally planned Sludge to share parts with grimlock. You can find images on TFW2005 from an interview with one of the designers. So the head has always been on Grimlocks tooling

If there was a crossover, in a perfect world I imagine it could be something along the lines of a combiner team of 5 headmaster figures. Engineering would be tough though.

I think Kong works better as the Studio Series mold. Also Bandai or Toho don't own the rights to King Kong. Universal does.

The problem is that they're doing the collab with Toho Godzilla and not the Monsterverse Godzilla, if they would have done the monsterver version then it would have been easy to do the Primal mold as Kong and Megatron as Godzilla with the Dinobot mold. However for me for the kiryu Prime they should've use the Earthrise Snapdragon mold because it has the jet mode and that would have been a good reference to the ones that are in the GxK movie plus it also has the dino mode.

@Drout You don't know anything about Godzilla, do you? If you knew anything, you'd know that Kiryu wasn't in GvK, but was in Godzilla X Mechagodzilla. Anyone who knows a bit about Godzilla would know that at least.

It's not like Kiryu couldn't be made into an actual Transformer. Unlike EVA Unit-01, Kiryu and other Toho kaiju are bulky to accommodate the suit actors. This should be the easiest job in the world!

Thye could have retool earthrise Snapdragon in to Kiryu, you have the dino(dragon?) mode retool it a bit to look like Kiryu, then the jet mode to look like the one in the GxK movie, and still have the robot mode.

If I were to do King Ghidorah, it would be TM2 Megatron but his dragon head is re-engineered to split into 3 heads. Gigan would just be Grimlock but with a different head and arms, and the sail would utilize the blaster storage that the Grimlock mold already has. As for Godzilla himself, give him the Godzilla head at the very least and utilize the blaster storage for his iconic spines. Kiryu would just be another Grimlock again I guess but with the back blasters.

I think the toys should have been Beast Megatron as Godzilla and Optimus Primal as King Kong cause everyone has been making that comparison since Beast Wars first came out. I agree with the idea that beast Megatron should be Godzilla and Grimlock should be Mecha Godzilla because Godzilla is an organic looking design so Beast Megatron with his organic beast mode is really the only toy that would actually work for that. If you use Grimlock or any other mechanical T-rex toy it's just going to look like a Mecha Godzilla by default.

2:37 Kiryu is a Kaiju from the 2002 MILLENNIUM ERA Godzilla movie Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla. He is a machine built around the skeleton of the first Godzilla from 1954. Also, Ultra Magnus would make for a better Kiryu.

No TJ, Godzilla wasn't dark green in the Showa era, he's never been green in any movie, he was always dark grey. The green Godzilla has always been a fabrication for american promotional material and it ticks me off that it somehow mandela-effected most of the western population into thinking it would be more recognizable if he didn't look like he looks in every single one of his 30+ films.

I’m a huge fan of both Transformers and Godzilla, so it breaks my heart to say this doesn’t impress me. It’s just Grimlock with a new head, painted black and blue blotches to simulate his nonexistent dorsal plates. And Kiryu? They didn’t even try. It’s just a silver Scourge. How is that supposed to be Mechagodzilla? As someone who’s collected all the Collaborative Transformers, including the GI Joe ones, I’m gonna pass on these.

The thing is, Godzilla has some iconic vehicles such as the super X3 and the maser tanks. They could’ve even gone with something like one of the Heavs from the monsterverse. The sad thing is if they had reused the transformation like they did with gigawatt they could’ve made a bad ass Heisei Mechagodzilla.

Few other options: Squeezeplay as orga Waspinator as mothra Dinobot or beast wars megatron as godzilla 1999 Snapdragon and apeface as godzilla and king kong (or mechagodzilla and mechanikong) Devcon as Jet Jaguar Transmetal 2 megatron as titanosaurus Magmatron as goresaurus, rodan, and ...somebody else.

Personally, the way you get an official Transformer King Ghidora is to use Double Cross/Twin Inferno and retool him into a 3 headed dragon.

No he doesn't. He said Kiryu was Heisei era. It's from the Millennium era movies (Godzilla X Mecha Godzilla & Tokyo S.O.S.) Heisei was 90's, Kiryu came along in 2002-03.

Beast Wars Pterosaur or Swoop as Rodan. Beast Wars dragon Megatron as King Ghidorah. Slug/Snarl as Baragon. Literally any of these options would've made more sense

This isn't just disappointing Transformers fans, there are a lot of disappointed Kaiju fans. As a fan of both I'm very disappointed. Grimlock should have been Kiryu and Godzilla with retooling. They could have used the same skeleton with Retooled shells and parts. Hell, they could have done Beast Wars, Kingdom or MP Primal and Grimlock for King Kong, Skar, Godzilla and Mecha-Godzilla respectively. Yes they would need to okay it with Universal, but Kong is in the Monsterverse! This is worse than Studio Series 86 Megatron being a tank, because at least there's an excuse to be had. "You can't make him a gun because of safety laws". There's no excuse here: this is just laziness and greed! I would expect this from Hasbro, not Takara! We could have Terrorsaur as Rodan! Jet Jaguar could be any mold! Biolante as Botanica is something I never thought of.

If they really wanted to put in some work on this line, then I would have suggested remolding Mindwipe into King Ghidorah, or, better yet, Legacy Transmettle Megatron. Remove the dragon arms and add two more heads.

IMHO, they should have done t rex Megatron as Godzilla and saved Grimlock for kiryu since it's more robotic anyway

Ngl, kinda wished they made the robot modes original characters that fit the monster they transform into, not just megatron turning into godzilla

I think people were hoping for a Titan-Class Trypticon in a Godzilla outer shell ala Maximal and Predacon design theory. (Don't get it twisted, *that* would be awesome, probably too expensive for either toho or Hasbro to make. Doesn't shake the rumor that a Titan-Class G.I. Joe/Transformer Toy is in the works)

Not a big fan of this line. I'm a huge fan of both Godzilla and Transformers and have been dying for a crossover. So this is really disappointing. Imagine the dinobots turning into the kaiju. Like Grimlock is now Godzilla, swoop is Rodan, Slug is Baragon, Snarl is Anguirus, and Sludge is Titanosaurus, that would have been so cool.

For me it’s really going to depend on the price tag. I’m a sucker for black and gold decos and I’m reluctantly on board with Kiryu. But $150 for a two pack is about my limit.

I’m definitely going to just track down the Godzilla Megatron mostly because I like the way it looks hell it might be the first and only time I’ll get an upgrade kit
