Everything in Super was to help him reclaim his power and find a balance between his civilian life and as the protector of Earth. The Superhero movie taught him that he can't settle at Ultimate Gohan. To protect the ones he loved, he would have to break his limit and continue to reach untold heights.
That is my problem being a fan of gohan he was too smart to not think there would probably be more threats but with goku dead after cell he just quit when easily could have trained and studied but no. In super he immediately stopped training because goku is stronger than ever chi chi as a influence is what ruined his potential as he can balance this yet mommy. He sullied his power three times than gets beast were supposed to believe he will keep up with his training I’m not confident he squandered all his power and was given the rest of super hopefully he is consistent in his training he should have been.
There is no balance , you either passionate like Goku , will rather die to see a low class warrior trash surpass a sayain Elite or the Legend with terrifying potential Gohan had his moment in the cell games , stick with the books
You know what grinds my gears? MFS hating on gohan like he didnt wish to become a martial artist and wanted to be a scholar. I think they made it very clear gohan wanted to be a scholar not a martial artist. He had to become a fighter for the sake of earth and his friends. ITS NOT something he wanted to do. "WHY IS GOHAN A NERD WHY IS HE READING BOOKS!" he is a Scholar. Another thing i want to mention is that GOHAN now has a family, is a father, has a DAUGHTER, has a wife and also HAS A JOB. Of course Gohan is gonna fall off in terms of strength. Dragon Ball Fans you don't know your show.
AND STILL whooped ass at like 6 years old. Took some years off to go to school, fell in power, but then a few years later GOT RIGHT BACK TO IT. Sparring with SSJ blue Goku and eventually achieving BEAST mode which is either stronger or on par with MUI Goku. BEAST mode Gohan shook the universe and even Goku and Vegeta felt it. Bro dogslammed CELL MAX. He is ready 24/7.He can do anthing he wants.
Ngl, I love Gohan to death but Tracksuit Gohan losing to First Form Frieza has to be one of the most embarrassing things I’ve seen in Dragon Ball since Yamcha losing to Kami. Vegeta at least keeps up with his training and it’s obvious the writers rob him of a main villain kill so he has to kill most of the side villains.
To this day, SSJ2 Gohan will forever remain my favorite version of Gohan and gave Cell one of the most embarrassing beat downs for a villain that was well deserved. I understand why Gohan focused on school afterwards in the Buu Arc sense he was forced to fight to protect earth because of his mentor Piccolo and Goku who trained him afterwards to continue to protect his loved ones but I just wish they would stop having him get weaker and then coming back strong as ever when he should both train and continue his studies consistently because he knows there will be future threats trying to destroy the earth and he has to protect his family. He is far from a fraud tho as he has fought every dbz villain, either embarrassing them or tagging them multiple times showing how strong his rage boost are and how fast he can adapt as a fighter.
Can use that same exact line for Ultimate Gohan, especially with all the far more evil shit Buu had done both prior to his Super transformation and in the past.
@@windy3935 Gohan was grown and had a cool confidence he'd never shown before when he had his comeback against Buu. It was a whole new era for him where before he had been defined by his anger. It's just a shame he was done dirty and still quickly left by the wayside that arc.
In Super hero Gohan does say like twice to Piccolo he has been training by himself it seems like the slacking thing is extremely recent cause Videl says he's been woring on a research paper and hasn't even left his office in days which explains why he's not instantly combat ready when Piccolo goes to see him but after he gets into a real fight he's still performing better than power awakened Piccolo
@sc-1918 He says to Piccolo at the start of the arc when he blocks that punch "you didn't think I got that rusty did you" which u can take as u will I guess I interpreted it as him saying he hasn't been slacking as much as Piccolo thinks he has
@hypermania7951 True but he's been working on a research paper for days and videl says he hasn't left the room in days, doing stuff to ur body like that is unhealthy and ur body doesnt function at 100% when u do it he got thrown into a fight right in the middle of that
Indeed, the fact that Gohan learned a technique in peace time is definitely progress over the Buu & RoF Gohan. I would also add he still carried the ToP wisdom to maintain his objectivity- as when he listened to Piccolo to end Cell Max now rather than continue fighting.
2:38 I just wanted to say that there isn’t much to imply that Cell has Gohan’s or Trunks’s DNA in his makeup, It’s also narratively better to have it be like Cell is a representation of the entire past generation of fighters and Both Gohan (and Trunks in the future) have to conquer him to become the true successors and protectors of Earth. Love the vids my glorious king!!!
As a Gohan fanboy it's odd how many of my peers miss his entire arc. Gohan went from a scared toddler to a brave hearted individual despite his passive nature. It seems few like you and I have noticed how while on Namek, Gohan jumped headlong into every fight despite how out matched he was. And for no other reason than "you mess with Gohan's friends, you mess with him." Hell despite being two minutes into the video, this is where I have my issues with Toriyama's handling of Gohan after the Cell arc. Because it was right there, Gohan training not because he wanted to like Goku, but because he had to. Piccolo, Trunks, Goten, Videl, and Vegeta could have been the catalysts to initiate Gohan going into "protector" mode and besting each adversary. But I'm no idiot, as I gather Toriyama probably didn't consider that. I mean do you have any idea how many times I've written and completed a story only to realize how I could have made it better afterwards...?
Gohan’s potential and power is so insane. At age 4 this kid did nearly lethal damage to a character that can destroy the moon and the entire planet in no time. Gohan at age 5 can already solo any character from Naruto and One Piece.
I don't think Gohan should be WHOLLY blamed for Super Hero. Part of the narratuve conflict is Piccolo "assuming" Gohan's lost his fighting sense and, despite some truth to it, Gohan proving him wrong. He says in the beginning "I haven't gotten THAT rusty" and him using the Special Beam Cannon at the end is supposed to be emblematic of it. He says it himself he'd been practicing it.
I find it funny that gohan got a transformation after seeing Piccolo get beat up but didn't during top even though they would get erased if they lost😂😂
I also feel people don’t understand gohans perspective, for example with golden Freiza it kinda makes sense he fell off because after goku achieved super saiyan god I feel that’d stop most people to train, like it seems like a form of power that was so ahead of anyone’s expectations it doesn’t seem like they’d ever need another hero to protect them, leaving only the people who actually wanted to train to train
Man I really wish toyotaru would draw like the way these thumbnails look. I know it would take sooooo long, but man he does have a whole month for one chapter. I wonder if he’s the only guy behind the dbs manga
Ever since the Buu saga Gohan has had only 1 personal arc Step 1. Neglect training Step 2. Regress as a warrior Step 3. Return to form Step 4. Repeat After Super Hero, I’m hoping we are done with this cycle, but that may be too optimistic
I see differently: RoF: Freeza’s back! I haven’t done any training in years and I don’t know if I can go SSJ anymore. SH: It’s a good thing I kept in shape and learned the Makakensoppo for such an occasion.
@@agerard6297Ok that is a bit different, but in the end Gohan still learns the same lesson of needing to train. In SH he had worse Ki sensing than Pan...
Well if he didn’t know the importance, then he wouldn’t have bothered learning the makakensoppo, so that’s progress. So it’s not the complete Gohan does it again! that fans are making out of it. And I think people are making a big deal over a normal error of ignorance. After all, Vejita certainly didn’t notice Mighty Mask.
It makes him look stupid since he got his dad killed and almost doomed the planet last time he played around. It's like he didn't learned anything from the Cell fight.
@@veryangryboi4128 He didn't even do anything wrong against Buu. Buu blew himself up and hid away for 30 minutes so Goten and Trunks could fuse. He then reappeared and they all had a batter back and forth, of which Buu then insulted Trunks and Goten so they'd fuse so he could absorb them and Piccolo. It wasn't Gohan's fault, Trunks and Goten didn't listen and everyone paid for it.
Gohan needs an uncle Ben ong. Ik he wants to live a stress free life where he doesn't have to fight anyone, but that's a luxury he can't have since he has great power, and with great power comes great responsibility. He can still be a scholar as much as he wants, but with his potential to be one of the strongest fighters around and the constant threats to earth where his wife and daughter live, you can't just leave it to daddy lil bro, you gotta throw hands too. GT and Moro arc Gohan showed this the best, my guy was training consistently and coming straight from his job with his work clothes still on to throw hands, peak!
From what I’ve been hearing, Toriyama was pushed to bring Goku back into the narrative (by his fans? His editors? Idk lol), so it makes sense that everything afterwards feels so, uh… meh
When gohan beast came out I was mad cuz, half-ass his training and got beat over the head about in super hero. Mentions that even if a big threat comes earth that’s what’s Goku and vegeta for 🤓, but still gets a new form 😭
I think Gohan gonna be cooking for the future. He will be a little mentor to Broly whilst also seeing how well he’s developed Beast . I think Gohan will be back on track.
I kind of prefer what they did with him in GT like he still had a sense of self and he was still training he wasn't just like oh my God I can't transform or anything I think if they had a little bit more time to develop the characters in GT I think we could have got a better version of what people want go on to kind of be not necessarily be the Earth's protector but still be able to light lock and load and I think that was what was good about GT Gohan is that he wasn't afraid to fight when he needed to when threats came to Earth even with peace times he still kept up on his training while in Dragon Ball Z and super it help going back to the same thing and then jumping past all of that growth just to get them back on top just for him to learn the lesson almost like five damn times it gets kind of tiring at this point hopefully they'll learn their lesson but I doubt it.
The thing is, post RoF Gohan had been counted on to protect the earth when the two are missing. Watagashi, Cell Max, and the manga’s Moro invasion phase 1 were resolved by Gohan. During the Babi, Android 17, and Evil Shenlong Arcs, did GT Gohan prove as effective?
Super Hero is definite proof that Gohan peaked in the Cell Games. Most of the movie is literally just taking shots at current Gohan and having everyone just reminisce how cool he used to be. You could say that they aren't talking about Cell Games Gohan specifically. But given how this is the movie with Beast Gohan, Cell Max, the Red Ribbon Army, and other ideas from the Cell and Red Ribbon Army arcs it's very doubtful they're talking about Buu Saga Gohan or something.
I think that's kind of the point though. At the time Gohan managed to keep up with his studies whilst also being strong enough to handle new threats and keep up in strength. But in super he's a shadow of his former self in strength, he doesn't have that physical and mental balance anymore so imo Gohan's arc in super is to try and become a more mentally and physically balanced person to both protect his family as a father whilst also pursuing his passion as a scholar.
@dhrubi There is no point in the series pre TOP where Gohans life is balanced, when Gohan got strong no school work was being done, when school work was being done no training was being done, currently is the only time he's ever been able to balance both
Actually, between RoF and US Arc Gohan did manage some balance between family life and getting stronger. The Gohan in the Zeno Expo is certainly not the RoF Gohan.
Im going to say this the whole track shit thing was just out of nowhere on its own, seeing as in the battle of gods arc. BOTH anime and movie have him go ultimate and seem competent Sure, he loses to beerus, but that's to be expected So for me to see him barely turning ultimate after what? A couple of months? Thats the gohan i absolutely loathe
I think gohan is just born with massive rage boosting power and i think it shows how much rage boosted he is in hes forms Example: when he turned ssj2 first time hes hair was much longer than hes normal hair so its rage boosted , in the buu saga hes ssj2 is pretty much same length as hes normal hair so he did not draw out that much rage boost when he was a kid ,and then in superhero movie hes closest friend died so he draw out so much massive rage boost that hes hair was abnormally long hair( its just my theory)
I think you overlooked a manga Gohan a bit, in the he’s been keeping up with his training for longer then his anime counterpart, in the anime he starts training seriously before the tournament starts but in the manga at the end of the zamasu arc Gohan states that since no one calls on him to fight anymore, he uses the gravity chamber to train so he doesn’t get rusty the next time they need him
The only thing about gohan I don’t like is specifically HOW he got beast AND of how super hero was just Cell saga but… kind of worse in a way? It’s still good but not better than the cell saga due to the fact the whole movie is mostly just having the remnants of the cell saga enter the movie
4:27 Who says saiyans naturally get stronger by growing up, while not training? And you're just assuming what level of Cell that Goku was comparing Dabura to.
Is this ironic? Cuz this didn’t prove anything. If it is, my b. But if not then I’d argue against what you’ve stated. Cell saga gohan is the best cuz it’s what his character has led up to. Gohan actually doesn’t mind fighting. He actually has shown he enjoys it a lot. He just doesn’t like killing or ppl dying. That scares him. But he’s always had a stronger urge to protect. Him giving up fighting is bad writing. Especially the multitude of times he’s let ppl down due to being too weak. And still didn’t learn from it. He watched his father die in front of him many times. He’s watched a ton of ppl die. Even if he doesn’t like it, he should understand what is at stake. At least train a bit. It doesn’t have to be intense but a bit. I don’t like doing some things, but I know I have to daily so I do it. It’s selfish of him and he’s never been selfish. I’ll have to watch the video again to make more points but this is just what I remember of gathering my thought a bit. Also, he’s not an adult in the buu saga. And he’s not 12 during cell. He’s 9. And in the buu saga he’s a dumb teenager. Which we’ve all been or will be so him acting the way he did is completely fine. Especially since that was the way they took his character. It was in line for how they presented him in the buu saga
So yeah in short, he did peak in the cell games lol. A lot of this seems like bait & trying to be contrarian for the sake of a video topic. Gohan had the most aura in the cell games, it was his best moment in the series. You had to make way too many concessions in the video from his presence in the Buu saga to RoF. I like current Gohan, but to pretend that the popular criticism is wrong just for views without any actual points is crazy. Even you yourself dunk on Gohan in the same video you’re supposed to be defending him on for the same reasons everyone else does 😭
@@deckzone3000 Nah, Goku and Vegeta were stated to be the only ones who stood a chance against Kid Buu ontop of the Anime showing Base Goku >>>> Ultimate Gohan.
5:58 Highly disappointed to see a suppose Gohan fan do what every other denier do in conveniently ignoring details to form a dishonest argument. Dude completely neglected Gohan's secret training in DBS:SH, and heavily downplayed his FAR MORE than two days training prior to ToP in DBS. These ingenious arguments run rampant online, smdh. People need to stop saying Gohan's peak was Android Saga/SS2. That shit has never made sense. His Ultimate state was factually much stronger than anything beforehand, and it didn't require any transformation unlike SS2. Gohan "losing" to Buu, a far stronger villain than Perfect Cell btw, is equal to Gohan defeating Cell because he needed his father's assistance to get that victory. Speaking of what happened to Buu, people are overly critical and dramatic about Gohan getting absorbed. The technique in itself is unorthodox and cheap as hell, to the point where less of a deal should be made over the omni-directional attack.
Nah Vegeta is a fraud because he be the main one talking shit to the villians about how Saiyan's are a great warrior race and how to not underestimate a Saiyans power and how he's the so called alleged *"PRINCE"* of all Saiyans yet he's the *ONLY* main character out of Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, and Trunks who has *NOT* defeated a main villain and he constantly gets overshadowed by Goku
gohan peak in the cell saga that should of being where his fighting journey should of end tbh, they just keeping him around to make money at this point because dbs super hero is ass with and asspull ssj2 rip off form to sell toys and try to force him in a more relevant role but we both know that he ain't necessary anymore.
Not even true everything is made for merchandising purposes bro and yes unless you want this to be the Goku and Vegeta show Gohan who has done stuff like getting more powerful than everyone through rage has to become stronger your just mad ui was surpassed by Gohan but ssj2 is fine though but the ultimate form is fine though bro just admit your a hypocrite this isn't new to gogan
@@ripper_madness exactly i literally could say super saiyan 1 to 3 where cash grabs and we're just made for merchandising but would the z Glazers like it naw it's ridiculous cuz like you said everything is made for merchandising 🤣
I think Gohan would get less flak in Super if he was more involved in at least ONE of the two arcs between Gold Freeza and the ToP. It would've shown the fruit of his resolve to regain his strength post RoF and made his jump in power Pre-Top to Super Hero feel more natural. For example, imagine he sees Trunks go SSR and that DIRECTLY inspires him to try and obtain his own unique form leading to Beast. I know he SAYS that was his goal during his match with Goku, but it felt a tad...undercooked IMO.
The Gohan Embargo was problematic, even though I liked 43 & 52. I can’t help to think Episide 88 would have happened a lot earlier if Toriyama gave his OK to put Gohan into the Zamasu/Goku Black story.
Gohan's character has grown so stagnant. He literally gets his ass handed to him for 4 arcs, gets a bullshit power up, gets 5 minutes of glory, gets whooped for another 4 arcs, and then rinse and repeat. He's always repeating the same character arc and it's painful to watch.
Gohan is probably the only DBS character that is consistently written based off of his DBZ character. No one complains about gokus character assassination and devolution though
No Gohan isn’t. Vegeta has stayed consistent if not developing further as a man and a husband and a warrior. Piccolo has had deeper stuff recently tying into Namekian pass and is still a mentor figure to the youth. Frieza is essentially the same as well just had a growth in strength. Also everyone hates the way Super Goku is written because of his stupidity and him being a first grader
Lol i seriously dont know what it is with people. Gohan, whether it be teen or adult is the goat, but any time he does anything at all, hes criticized. He cant have a normal life because "its not cool", he cant be relevant in terms of fighting because "wahhh he hasn't trained enough so it stuuupidd". Theres literally people who still think ultimate gohan is weaker than his teen self lol.
Not to mention he’s a cuck despite the fact his wife is 100% loyal to him. He’s a worse fighter nowadays despite the fact he doesn’t freeze, panic, or lose objectivity like he did on Z. He’s criticized for not defending the Earth despite the fact post-RoF he’s handled things well whenever G & V are t around. Etc etc…
Gohan Beast when Blue Vegeta gets a little annoyed. Also people acting like teen Gohan is cool when he's out of character crying and bitching which he didn't even do at FIVE years old. Shit's annoying.
I think tracksuit gohan is completely fine. Think of where he is at that point in his life. He just had a child he has a job and Goku and vageta are stronger than ever of course he’s going to slip a little bit because he hasn’t found that balance yet and super is the story of him finding that balance
Its reiterated countless times that moments like those were beyond unacceptable with Gohan himself admitting he never should've let himself go. There also is no "balance", he had all the time he needed to train, he just slacked off because he made bullshit excuses. There's no excuse, it was dogshit writing
@@Profitin there’s no balance? Bullshit excuses?? Bro the dude had a life. The dude had a newborn child and a. Job the dude tried to live on normal life. He’s not Goku. He’s not abandoning everything to go train on an alien planet for months on end, Gohans story in super was trying to find the balance to where he can keep training to keep his power sufficient while having his family and a normal life And we can see he’s pretty much found that balance by dbs superhero
@@superdbz456smashbros4 terrible reason terrible response and completely trash argument Super Saiyan 1-3 set the standard for transformations and they change Goku in design not to mention Super Saiyan is incredibly well written unlike blue did u honestly try defending that garbage ass transformation don’t make me laugh
@@superdbz456smashbros4 I don't think it's the same. I think 1-3 were set up better from a storytelling perspective. And Blue is quite similar to ssj considering it is just super Saiyan as a god
@@tonymack4120 yeah I agree the execusions of the forms in z where better but I'm saying hating the design is silly considering that blue is just ssj And ssj2 the many issues trying to identify the form from certain characters because of the close similarities with ssj1 and ssj3 looks either silly or badass depending on your take I personally think it's cool but the form is pretty bad with long fights
