@@sarthakarora3212 yet that's how Namekian genes work since they have asexual reproduction and directly connects with his father's memories. In summary, Piccolo has King Piccolo's memories but isn't an exact clone. Besides I was just trying to say that Piccolo is mature for his age because of the memories, that's it.
Could've had him just train on Beerus' planet. Whis did recognize the partial god inside him so that could've been plenty reason. Could justify the forms too as Piccolo tapping into god ki in different means than the Saiyans.
I agree piccolo needs some more work. Can we get a human with some development, though? My boy tien hasnt had shit sense he held cell down. Then they did him so dirty in the top arc.
GT was a s*itshow! I would have enjoyed watching Piccolo fighting along with Goku and Vegeta against the 7 evil dragons. Which would have been mandatory since Kami being the one who created those faulty dragonballs.
The problem with piccolo is that they don't allow him to do anything or win anything honestly it's been awhile. I would say that he's the most mistreated out of the z fighters but that would be krillin or yamcha
@@Chriso22 Piccolo was strong in og DB, Saiyan saga, Namek saga, Android saga(including Cell Games) and in Super Hero. I hope he will be strong also in Daima.
Vegeta kinda the reason Piccolo gets sidelined. To me Picc and Veggie are very similar in character and arc, Piccolo gets his coat of paint change quickly and after Cell introduction Picc fell outta grace cuz he wasn't a Saiyan.
That's a toriama issue. All they had to do was create villans for each of the main cast fight that way they all get a chance to shine. Instead we get one major Baddy assigned to goku .
As a Tenshinhan and Gohan fan, I hear you. Both Piccolo and Tenshinhan arguably train at least as hard and often as Goku and Vegita, but they're never allowed to catch up. Hell, one thing that annoyed me was that the Kaioken returns, but rather than a way for the non-Sayians to potentially close the gap, it's just suddenly a way for Goku to get stronger. Honestly, even if you have to say that Goku, Gohan and Vegita are the absolute strongest / most powerful heroes in Dragon Ball, Piccolo could still be competitive by just being a tier below them but making up for the raw power difference by having his various unique Namekian abilities, fighting smarter / with more skill and having a more versatile array of techniques. Heck, give him his own Namekian themed power up akin to the Kaioken. But in DBZ skill and technique doesn't really count for much anymore, it's all about who has the most raw power and rarely little else. If Dragon Ball was more like, say, the Avengers or the Justice League, then all of the heroes would have different pros and cons, an ability to contribute, different things they could bring to the table. But that was never really the goal after a certain point.
Him being tossed around in the top was so disappointing. Even in a movie that was originally about him he got ragged Doll three times. Two Being the same Guy
Piccolo has always been my favorite Dragon Ball character. He always had entertaining fights against Raditz, Frieza, Cell and my favorite being 17 and he had a big role in every arc. Had cold moments like his sacrifice for Gohan, fusion with Nail/entrance on Namek, fusion with Kami, getting info from Cell showing how calculated he can be and the best hand to hand fight in Z against 17. He didnt have that many fights in the Buu Saga only slicing Babidi in half but he train Goten and Trunks for Majin Buu. Super is where he really gets done dirty like him scarifying himself for Gohan because he wasn’t strong enough against Frieza, losing to Frost because he got poisoned and plot didn’t let him win with pure skill and his elimination against a BUG yet he has super hearing and stretchy arms is his most embarrassing moment and he should have lasted longer since he did well in his other fights in the Tournament of Power. Super Hero does redeem him with Orange Piccolo tho I wish he didn’t have to use the dragon balls to get that form and work for it instead or another Fusion.
Piccolo not imperfect Cell makes, Kami has been observing imperfect Cell but never got a chance to actually know what Cell was, and on top of that Cell had all the ki signatures of the Z fighters who just spent the entire 3 preparing for the androids, it only makes sense that he’d curious about an unexpected turn of events. He paid the price for his curiosity tho
yh piccolo paid the price but he saved the timeline by finding out about present cell since he would be be completed at the time of late dbs with DNA of everyone from the Buu arc to just before the tornament of power.
As someone who also loves Piccolo, you touched on every single point I ever thought of concerning how his character got absolutely hoed. Your videos are amazing 🙏🏾
12:44 Replace "At cell" with "At any point" and now you're correct. People are like this for all parts of DB, Z, and Super. "Let's end on a high note" is a powerful drug.
@@silentecho92able Nah, Goku have same transformation 4 sagas. He will not get something better, he will just mastering UI like Whis UI and that's all. Piccolo new form will be probably Red Piccolo hehe.
@@Mari_Izu You underestimate Piccolo and overrate Goku. Also you probably don't know, now Shueisha and Toei have much less to say than before. I think Toyotarou and Iyoku will do good job, DB will not be only about Goku. If you was mean something else then please use more than one sentence. Even AI using more than one sentence when try say something "smart".
i will say one small thing in his defense during Buu, the fact that Buu transformers into his Piccolo-form after Gotenks defuses does mean he is stronger than the saiyan brats, a minor win but as a Piccolo fan i have to cling to what little i have.
I always thought he was a standout member of every arc he was involved in until the Buu saga. Since then, he’s just been… there. That’s more than can be said for Goten and Trunks, but still a huge waste of his character.
This was a huge problem with the buu saga. Since there was only 1 major antagonist stronger than anyone else and all the side villains just died early. There was pontential in super like maybe him training with the supreme kai and gaining a new form via the namekian book of legends.
@@AhmedHussain-ju6xd I don’t even necessarily think he needed a new form, but just a power increase. He’s fused with Kami, and that should probably put him on the path to learn God Ki. If he trained under the Kais, that should be sufficient to at least give him trace amounts of it. Orange Piccolo (wish power up aside) is pretty damn cool, though.
@@_-Bane-_Mainjust a small change like purple stripes along his face like cell and a new aura would be enough. him expanding his bag with magic would be great though
@@AhmedHussain-ju6xdthe writers should have never had Dabura turn Piccolo and Krillin into stone because it would have been cool if they 1v1’d Yakon and Pui Pui then have the three sayains decide who takes on Dabura. Would have made the journey through Babidi’s Spaceship cooler.
I love the "even Tien" comment, because it kinda shows the problem with the characters in Dragon Ball Z and onward even more clearly. In short, there is no reason why Krilin is considered stronger than Tien. Tien should by all means be the strongest human by far. He was acknowledged in OG Dragon Ball to not only be insanely talented, but also being a fighting genius in his own right. And his only goal was to become a better martial artist, he did nothing but train almost his entire life. Krilin on the other hand especially in super neglected training entirely to the point where he is injured by bullets, something Goku in the first episode of OG Dragon Ball was able to shake off with only slight discomfort. And no, this isn't the same as with trying to assassinate Goku Black while his guard wasn't up. Krilin was a police officer trying to actively defuse a situation, his guard was 100% up. Tien should be tiers above all other human characters at this point by logic, including Krilin and Roshi. There is no reason why he shouldn't be. Yet he is treated like a weakling in comparison. Piccolo and Tien got almost the same treatment. They were interesting as villains, but were not allowed to outshine the main cast in any way once their character arcs were over and they became full allies. The only reason Piccolo even did as well as he did was because Toriyama actually liked him.
The reason for not entering the room for a 2nd time is that even though he got a lot stronger he still was no much for Cell to which even Goku agreed on. Plus Goku & Gohan both refused to enter a 2nd time so that might also be a reason. As for letting Gero and Cell escape, it's not like he did it on purpose, he was distracted by Trunks/Bulma/Krillin on both occasions. Knowing Cell's identity was crucial. He was an enemy from the future after all. Funny how Garlic Jr Saga , a filler saga that is disliked by many (not me) treated Piccolo much better than Buu Saga/GT/Super combined.
True, that arc was cool I liked how Piccolo faked being possessed, that was something you just don't see in the main arcs. Nowadays it does kind of feel like the forerunner to the last movie. It's always great seeing the other characters get some love, and a new side character was introduced, which I didn't even mind all that much. The silly antics early on were great too.
Piccolo is the stuff Anime protags are made of. "He was a demon king, feared by all who heard his name, but now he's raising his sworn enemie's son?" Piccolo deserves his own show. I have little hope for Daima doing him justice.
Bro you just blew up my ears. Really, the screams can be funny but you're missing heavily on the audio mixing to not make things sound horrible. Good video though
Piccolo adopted my kids when I started working longer hours on these god-damn complete history videos. Hes a good dude. He will raise them right. I gotta get back to work.
I was so excited to see Piccolo finally return to form after being held for so long, and the Universe 6 competition was the time for my boy to shine. And it’s against a member of Frieza’s race??? What a symbolic victory this will be! *BUT NO!* Because Piccolo immediately says man this guy is tough I can really only beat him by using one freaking move and it’s the strongest move I have. And he loses still. But it’s cool because Frost cheated and beat him through illegal methods. Hell yeah, now he can get his getba-he forfeits. He gives up his second chance at the fight so that Vegeta can beat him. Man, if they screw over Piccolorange too???
Seeing it laid out like this, Piccolo truly does get shafted in so many ways. It's honestly amazing how despite all that he is still considered such a GOATed character (and still one of my faves along with Krillen and Future Trunks). He really is just used to take the hits to build up the opponents for Gohan or the other Saiyans. He deserves his own arc at this point and I hope they help flesh him out more and allow his own tactical approach to fighting stand out. Got that copium hard rn but bro deserves more! Let him lead the background Z-fighters to do something meaningful as a team!
To answer the question as to why Piccolo didn’t just kill Imperfect Cell from the start, remember that the timeline has already been shown to be drastically different from what Trunks described. There were four androids instead of two, the androids were way stronger than the alternative future versions, and there was not even a mention of Cell. For all Piccolo knew, this Cell could have just been one scout of a whole unknown secret army. He needed as much info as possible so the others would know exactly what they were dealing with and not get blindsided again. If Piccolo hadn’t gotten exposition from Cell, they never would have known of the Cell embryo in Gero’s lab and then have to deal with that years later
Idk how Tylearned missed that when it was literally explained in the show lol But it's still dumb how Piccolo stood there after he got the info. With Gero he was interrupted by Trunks and later on Bulma was used as a distraction. With Cell he gets cocky and let his guard down.
I think you undersell him in the TOP though. Piccolo gets more ring outs than pretty much anyone from Universe 7. He defeats a bunch of guys and even has an amazing, "get out of my ring." moment. Maybe now that he's got his transformation he will hang with the big guns, but hoping, I admit, is hard to do.
Behave will you piccolo ain't black he ain't African or black american don't start appropriating Sure he has certain characteristics black people can identify with but he got alot of characteristics that's not there more Indian tropes It dont hold up to scrutiny when you breakdown what piccolo is and what he can do.
It made me laugh and cry playing sparking zero episodes for piccolo, and he only had like 2 fights each arc and eventually get bodied by the antagonist.
“he goes to namek, his actual home planet, and discovers he’s not just some demon but rather comes from a race of aliens also known as namekians” … only for Daima to come out and it turns out they all really were just some demons😂
With context of the editors changing the villain in the android/cell saga. It kinda makes sense why it turned out like this. Also no one could sense the androids ki so that why it was easy to sneak behind people
They should bring back the "Namekian's" for Piccolo. Maybe expand more on Universe 6 Namekian's and maybe have Piccalo run into that universe version of King Piccolo. Maybe battle that universes King Piccolo, maybe meet up with Saonel and Pilina the two Namekian he fought in the tournament then fuse with both creating a even more powerful single Super Namekian that transcends both universes.
The problem with Piccolo and the other Z fighters is the stakes got too high too fast. Every next villain being stronger than the last meant only a few characters like Goku/Vegeta/Gohan could keep up while the rest got sidelined since the story didn’t leave room to power scale the others
Piccolo has a rough time. He's such a cool guy. But it does feel like when they introduced Vegeta and decided he'd be the main Goku friend/rival then Piccolo just lost his spot. His connection with Gohan is pretty much everything now. Which can be hit/miss since Gohan often doesn't do a lot... I feel like the Superhero part should be given more credit. Piccolo got his moments to shine. And he was a total badass that did everything he could against a truly absurd threat like Cell Max. He didn't get the finishing blow. But he was effective and was given credit with his technique being used to end the fight. I feel like that's pretty good.
this is a fight I’ve been wanting to see for a while super perfect cell vs piccolo buu saga because I know he should be stronger than that saga compared to the previous one because he always trains
Piccolo could have so many cool arcs like discovering who he really was before his split with Kami, or him training a new namekian that visits earth, or journey down a forbidden demon path that ancient namekians once walked. He's my favourite character and he is criminally underused.
Really enjoy what the Super movies have done for Piccolo. The show overall is ass, but him being Goku's ace in the sleeve in Broly was great. Idk, hearing the strongest dude in the universe say "If im in danger, ill come to you" was sick.
at least your not a krillin fan bro we expect our character to lose sure but he used to play a key role in every fight up until the end of frieza whether it be impressing piccolo during their fight and making him sweat and thunk that itll be harder to take over earth after killing goku than he thought or doing the best against nappa and killing 3 saibamen despite being weaker than piccolo or holding out on namek and essentially leading the team until goku arrived and even having a few key moments against frieza with cutting his tail off and dodging him and escaping with a solar flare but after that we got nothing from him except for 1 scene in the TOP, 1 episode during his fight with goku and gohan and in super hero he was actually pretty key in the cell max fight
Picollo has always been one of my favourite characters, unfortunately he isn't a Saiyan, so he can't have nice things. I actually really enjoyed the super hero movie BECAUSE it was his movie. Until the god-awful nostalgia-bait ending when Gohan had to come in and ruin it. But it was fantastic UP TO that point. As a caveat, I would also point out that the reason Picollo gets dunked on so often is the 'regenerator clause' mixed with a dash of the Warf affect. It's the same as Wolverine. It doesn't matter how talented they are, they WILL take severe damage from the bad guys to show how dangerous they are, because they are the ones that can take it. It's a bit of a tired cliche, but a lot of sci-fi/fantasy writers fall back on it.
I cannot fully fault Piccolo for not killing Cell immediately after first meeting him. I know the out of universe reason Piccolo asked who Cell is was that it allowed Toriyama to explain Cell’s backstory/origin. A good in-universe reason Piccolo would ask questions instead of outright kill Cell is just Piccolo’s character. Piccolo was seen as the smarts/tactical fighter. Naturally an inquisitive person would want any info after all knowledge is power, but sometimes inquisitive people cannot help but ask questions like it’s a reflex for them. If I was Piccolo and saw Cell drink people, I would also say “WTF! Who are you?!” and want answers too. The tldr is that I get why Piccolo did not kill Cell when he logically should have. Cell had the dominant/advantageous position of being an unknown factor.
Cell was always stronger than piccolo (for pl sake, 16 and imperfect cell had similar pl’s much stronger than 17; piccolo’s pl was about the same as 17’s after the kami fuse), he didn’t go there to beat his ass; he went there to find out what the hell he was. Cell at this point just blipped into existence in that timeline one day, even Kami didn’t know exactly what his origin was. That confrontation was Piccolo being clever and finding out information on a potential new enemy. During that encounter piccolo managed to find out all about cells origin to give the other fighters a tactical advantage. Piccolo’s fusion with kami made him something of a mentor, he gained all of kami’s wisdom (you know, the guy who trained goku how to become the strongest on the planet). His intelligence is what stands him out as a character. Vegeta (much stronger than piccolo) unloaded all his SSJ2 energy onto buu and it did nothing; piccolo isn’t stupid enough to go flying into his death like that; so why would he go fight buu? Trunks and Goten are pretty much prodigy’s they’re post toddlers who can harness the power of SSJ without trying. If anyone has potential to one day beat buu it’s them two. Piccolo used his intelligence (yet again) to make a plan. That plan involves taking those two into the hyperbolic time chamber to train like hell. Urgh… it berus bro. The dude flicked goku SSJ3 and knocked him out. Of course all it took was chopsticks. However; finally we’re at a fair point! Yeah that fake death to Taguma was a dumb and cheep nostalgic throwback. Super ruined a lot of characteristics for characters who had already developed just so it had something to develop again. All the points you made in Z were cheep shots that didn’t really make sense to the narrative. But the shots at super; that’s inherent to super regardless.
The Cell saga will always be peak to md because everyone had their moment, even if it was brief. I also love the anime only portion of the beam struggle when Piccolo jumps in first to help Gohan before the humans and eventually Vegeta. I know the manga is just Vegeta but the Z Fighters standing aside when the world is at stake because they're too weak is some bs. Also Piccolo in the movies being so cold and usually killing the minions of the main villain definitely helps his case with the fanbase
Honestly, this is the trouble with Writing SO MANY CHARACTERS! And it’s Clear that Toriyama’s SHOTGUN Approach to Writing Did Not Do Our Favorite Green Boy any Favors during the Boo Saga! And It really makes me wish that His Editor Didn’t Try to Redo the Cell Saga with the Majin Buu Saga Lol They Should’ve Fleshed out the Arch in Drafts before Making the Manga and TV version! At the same time, it’s just insane how A lot of Characters are Actively Mishandled in the Dragon Ball Universe! So when we get to Super and Get Even More of these New Characters, it just adds to the problem. I’m at least Glad that Yamacha retired from Fighting, as his character hardly (if ever improved after getting surprised Death by that Saibaman). Its no wonder Why Shows and Anime would rather Kill off their Characters once they reached their peak. Or retire them once they’ve done all they could with the stories they had them involved in. I Honestly think Had Toriyama let some of the Z-Fighters remain dead after Cell or Buu Arc, the series would be much better.
I will admit they dropped the ball with Picc if I remember Picc couldn't last the full year in the RoSaT by himself so he didn't even get the most out of his training.
Sad part about the 2 universe 6 namekians is they absorbed everyone on namek to try and protect their universe only for it to be in vain and be brought back by another universes and now theyre just the last 2 namekians in universe 6
DB writing quality died with Cell Saga ending. That includes Piccolo’s character, since the time Kami fusion + chamber was the last time he looked like a MENACE!
They always somehow shoe horn piccolo getting a power up to always catch up to goku. It’s easier to do this with naruto and Sasuke but Dragon ball has to worry about gohan, goku, vegeta, piccolo making you wonder how they even did it.
the Piccolo problem can be narrowed down to "he would be a much better character if he didn't exist within Dragon Ball with Super Saiyans. I'm not the biggest fan of Piccolo but considering he has been stronger than Goku for most of the franchise he should at the very least be equal to if not slightly weaker than Goku's current 100%
The problem was establishing that there's nothing stronger than Saiyans and their countless transformations. Piccolo stuck in that awkward spot where he's stronger than humans but weaker than Saiyans. Super Hero had to make up transformations to give Piccolo the edge.
I feel like you may have misunderstood the part of the story where Guardian infused Piccolo baiting Cell instead of trying to killing Cell was actually a smart move
@@Tylearned it’s simple, actually. Namekian merging is both mental and physical, and the person who initiates the merger is the one in control. That being said, when Kame decided to merge with Piccolo, his knowledge of the situation isn’t fully realized. Kame can sense positive and negative energy from his lookout, but that’s about the extent of it. Kame can’t sense personality or intentions. Cell is also made up of several different genetics, which also makes it even harder for Kame to tell what the true depth of the situation is. The fact that Kame made the decision to let Piccolo merge was purely based on his instinct to do good and nothing more. When Piccolo and Kame do merge, Piccolo is still in control. The only thing left of Kame is Kame’s knowledge and strength, but Kame was just as in the dark about the situation as Piccolo was. When Guardian Piccolo faces off against Imperfect Cell for the first time, Cell is an unpredictable factor. Piccolo doesn’t just rush into a fight blind, though. Piccolo baits Cell on purpose in order to learn more about Cell and to try to figure out what Cell’s true capabilities are
It is weird. Like Piccolo never seems to want to push himself as hard as the others and I don't want the excuse of him not being a sayian. Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo would've been the first monster trio if he was written into trying more. They give him the pass of being a teacher but everytime he gets a chance to level up, he never goes as hard. Like you said, why didn't he train for that extra day?
