Goin' Native; The American Indian Comedy Slam, "No Reservations Needed". Premiered on Showtime New Years Eve 2009. Seven very funny Native American Comedians brought together for the first time on one stage. Hosted by legendary Native American Comic, Charlie Hill, Larry Omaha, Howie Miller, Marc Yaffee, Vaughn EagleBear, Jim Ruel and the reservation sensation J.R. Redwater. Yes, many. I was a storytelling school librarian for the Navajo & taught 5th grade for Zuni. Navajo have clan cousins, male and female, where they are supposed to tease each other. And Zuni have a group saying 'Laaaaaaah' -everyone in a circle of Zuni conversayion joins in warmly with 'Laaaaa...' then carry on with the conversation. 'Laaaaaaah' means 'Life is so like that; that's funny, endearing,....'.

i remember recording this. my whole family did to support CHARLIE HILL who is my uncle. his wife is actually my moms sister. he is so funny even when i was growing up teaching us magic n telling jokes all the time he visits.

The funny thing is, Ohitika, or how he spells it, is actually vert structured, and doesn't come easily: vowel-consonant-vowel-cons… all the way through. Jusst comepare the keyboard: Qwerty - you can somehow say, but that's about it.

also, my tribe on the south az border once was part of mexico, we still have a few villages in present day mexico. and our very old language has root words or adapted from spanish words, or words that we were called by spanish when arizona was part of mexico

Mexican American here and I love reading about the real native Americans, and I know we’re not connected but I feel inside of my heart that we are in spiritual way. My parents and grandparents are from the Huasteca region of San Luis Potosí and I’m proud to say that I am. I can just imagine how much pride y’all guys to say that y’all are REAL AMERICANS, much love from from a Mexican origin 💯

Just about the first time I've seen Native comedians (as opposed to "enlightened whites" doing Native satire). There's got to be a big demand, especially among Caucasians (speaking as one). We can't make changes if we can't hear (not won't hear) other perspectives. That's the best (I think) comedy; that which entertains AND educates. Very funny! Stop the music, "this is the first time this has ever been done." Say what!? This has gotta change!
