Your vlogs are fun for a native to watch. They give me a whole new appreciation of my home state. I love San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach areas. I also like taking the train to Santa Barbara every 3 months or so. It’s a charming area. Thanks for another enjoyable vlog, Michael! ✌🏻🙂✌🏻

So the houses behind the train station are now the "Historic Los Rios District" and it's crawling with tourists? Glad I lived in SJC and hung out in that neat old neighborhood when I did (late 70s/ early 80s). I knew several of the families who lived in those houses, leaky old roofs + sepia tone photos of their ancestors there up on the walls. There was a neat old brickyard (brick factory) dating back to the 1930s you could walk right into, nobody cared, that was our party spot, under the Eucalyptus tree, when it was closed on weekends. And there was a diner just east of the mission where EVERYBODY went for breakfast, and knew everyone else. When I went back in '96 the diner was a Starbucks and where the brickyard stood was a cineplex. Oh well, that's California for ya. Tear down all the funky old stuff and put up FAKE funky old stuff... PS: A lot of the migrating swallows have decided they like returning to Saddleback College better. It's a few miles away and has these deep recessed windows that unintentionally became a really good place for swallows to build their nests.

I'm shocked the missions are still around. They were terrible places where natives were beaten, killed, made to build that place and covert to catholic religion. Grew up and went to school in the area. We often talked about how cruel the missionaries were.

If you know of a park or road where you can ride an electric board while traveling, please recommend it.
