Hello everyone! This week was a crazy week! I did THREE explorations of the Union Mine that led to some of the coolest (mineral finds) yet and a whole new passion for me. I was joined by some super cool folks along the way and ended with some very valuable minerals and a whole new level of the Union Mine to explore!
A lot more abandoned mine explorations on their way!

Theres still lots of minerals down there. Maybe not the most valuble at the moment but you never know. Uncharted territories its really cool. Sketchy how dangerous it is though. I dont many have ever been down so deep for a very very long time if ever. I just worry about big rocks falling. Or you look up and a rocm blinds you or dents your head in. Ground would have been a lot more solid back then & would have had sturdy & intact ladders everywhere. Would have been a lot easier to traverse back then then it is now. Small rocks falling has made the ground slippery gravel in the modern day partner that with the rot & collapsing of the ladder system makes it a lot more difficult.

@@GhostTownLiving Oh Brent.. I'm so claustrophobic that I find myself holding my breath when you go down there, especially when you disappear down slippery rat-holes... But then I saw you pointing out the mslachite/crysocola! Sometimes the two meld into one, & I use a lot of it in my hand-beaded art-jewelry - and I now have a whole new appreciation for the trouble miners go to in order for me to be able to purchase the beads! Smithsonite sounds like a very interesting mineral too! Please be careful & stay safe! XX

My wife and I came from Lexington, Ky to see Cerro Gordo. We got up there in a four cylinder Nissan. It was such an incredible experience to see the town. Thank you for allowing people to come.

As a modern day miner myself it's great to see your passion for this historic mine that you enter and and explore for people to see and understand some of the harsh conditions mining was back then to what it is now thankyou for the journey that you create on this channel and please don't stop.

Its still pretty harsh conditions bro. This guy has to lower himself way down and fills his pockets with rocks and has to hoist himself back up to the top. big rocks held up by old wood. Just getting the elivator to work was a challange.

I wonder how it is to a modern miner, someone going down something that probably SCREAMS health and safety code violations in a modern mine.

Gives me a whole new respect for the original miners. They didn’t even have the fancy climbing equipment yet managed to transverse such a hazardous environment and create it. Talk about mind blown!

Wow Brent...all of what was in this video was SO COOL to see and learn about. We think you definitely SHOULD start taking small, medium and large mineral/rock specimens out of your mine and start 'The Cerro Gordo Jewelry And Gem Store', or something close to that. You could make a nice income to support restoring the town and making it into a true ghost town/old mining community tourist destination WHILE you get to explore the mine and find new spots with different ores, cool rocks and things left behind by the miners. You can have a win, win, win situation on your hands (a turnaround) by selling jewelry and specimens, which will ALSO get the word out and promote Cerro Gordo and what it has to offer people who want to see and experience it. ;)

Now that ive watched it , taping in to your local gemilogical society is a very valuable wealth of knowledge and genrally just good people. Glad you did that . I was a member of the diamond creek gemilogical society many years and walked in with a non descript chunk of rock i found and walked out with a piece of super 7 i had all along. They had all the tools and local know-how and where of what could be found in my patch of the world and after moving from that area years later i ended up living on a old gold mind in central Victoria called the wither and die mine , called that as no gold was ever found there but lots of interesting minerals where alluvial i was able to identify. You struck gold by going to see what you have and meeting some posible very valuable future friends.

I so love, how the "rock mineral community" came together in such a short period of time 💛 This is the kind of camaraderie I used to enjoy while gold prospecting. Everyone gathered and admired each other's findings, one would hear (elaborate) stories by seasoned miners, learn something, and before you knew it, hours had gone by while being immersed in a completely different world and state of mind. I'm so happy you experienced this with them - and also with your visitors Dan, Jason, and Scott. I wish you many more such wonderful and precious moments 🥰 PS: The cold weather and devastating winter storms affected many of us here in LA as well. It was depressing. But, today, on this sunny and warm Easter Sunday, I finally removed the Mylar emergency blankets from the drafty jalousie windows in my uninsulated 1960's apartment. It felt sooo good 🥰🌷🌞 Take care of yourself, Brent - I look forward to your next video.

I wish I was fifty years younger, I always loved going to Poverty Gulch Colorado and venturing down in Old Mines marked extremely Dangerous KEEP OUT! I used to collect all the Blue Green turquoice I could carry in a Two Gallon Gunny Sack. I lived in Missouri and was a Trucker and everytime I was able to get a Load to that area I would Jump on it because I knew there was no good paying Frieght from there so I would Rent a Junker Car and go to the Mines > ! always had my climbing Harnessand plenty of Rope. I also carried Mani Picks and Electric Cement drills . I loved going alone because when alone I never had a coward with me to mess my time up in the Mines. Now 85 Years old, I wanted to donate all my Antiques of the Old days to Cerra Gordo, But Nomatter how many times I tride to contact them I never recieved one reply. I also had a Big old 1800's Barn and House I was offered I tried to tell you about but never recieved one Reply. I have a Lot of items of that erea I have from Famly and Collections. But noow It will all be sold in a sale. I learned writing to this site the remarks are always very old. Mothing truly Current. That is why many of us have stopped watching the program. It seems to be a Eggo Trip .
