Living in an abandoned ghost town, trying to bring it back to life.
Cerro Gordo was established in 1865 and went on the be the most prosperous silver mine in California's history. At it's peak, over 4,500 miners called Cerro Gordo home. Nearly $500 million worth of minerals were pulled from the hills. Law enforcement wouldn't go to Cerro Gordo and miners were expected to solve their own problems. This led to over a murder per week in it's heyday.
Once the silver and water ran out, most packed up and headed out. The town has sat mostly abandoned for over 100 years.
My hope is to breathe life back into this town. My goal one day is to allow more people to come and stay overnight.
Restoring an abandoned ghost town with no running water is a long process with many ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
This channel is dedicated to tracking that progress.
What about the cable drums... Continuous braided steel in that age at that time dragged by donkey and men with shovels for hands 😮 😮 All the big steel has been halled their
Hello Brent my name is Christy Central California I have watched your show from the beginning I have always been fascinated with that sort of thing. I also have some books that may fit your library and I would be happy to get them to you I am disabled but I would be happy to support you with a few dollars. Thank you for your videos and if you have time I would love to hear from you if not I understand look forward to your next video
I have followed you for a long time. When I saw this video when it first came out I preordered your audio book. I just now remembered about it and saw it has been available since march. I went to go download it so I could start listening to it. I just spent almost an hour trying to figure out how to download and listen to it and got frustrated because it looks like all I can do is to listen to on fn amazon. I wanted a download. If I went to walmart and bought a book it would be in my hand. I bought an audio book for $15 and can't download in 2024?????? I'm sorry but my book it's a wasted $15. Should be, Paid for on pre-order, product released, direct download link provided by platform selling product, download what was paid for, listen to and enjoy, all in 1 minute.
Have you ever had an exposure assessment conducted on site & in the mines? I see so much dust in the underground tunnels and never see if you're wearing a mask or not. If you haven't I highly suggest you do to see what you're potentially being exposed to down there. So you can take the proper precautions. I'm sure you've done your research but I thought id lend my expertise.
Let an artist make something out of the bones, like carvings or something, and sell them to raise money for the preservation projects. I’m sure people would happily buy them.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1 Corinthians 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Ephesians 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Ephesians 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. †
Found the book in my local library, in Ohio. Love it. You are an inspiration for all the conservationist historians in the world who believe we can repurpose our past and make something new and better from that which we can salvage, save, and appreciate ... love your story and videos ... hoping to visit one day ...
Brent - I enjoy a man and his dream and I hope God continues to grant you success in your endeavors. I have watched every video you have made. At 73 travel is not something I do, But I do want encourage you to continue and do look to God for guidance.
Chickens! you got chickens, and you've not mentioned them?! - I know I'm late and this was a year ago, but I'm watching your vids in order, and this is where I've got to.
I just ordered your book, both hardcover and audiobook. Looking forward to it! (Mainly because I've been binge watching all your videos from the beginning, and I'm running out!)
I just read about this hike in your book so I watched the video again, and I have to say, in the book it seemed like you were on the brink of death near the end, with no communication, scared, severely dehydrated, even blacking out and so on. So I wonder if you intentionally left some bits out of the video and lied a bit to not scare us too much or if you added some bits to the story in the book.
Got all that sunshine up there. It's odd now. You don't have solar panels to run all your shops on the electricity part Then you got like you can get an electric motorcycle that you can ride open the mountains. Where there and you could always get an electric pickup electric car telling you? No end to the electric
