Just found this among your videos, largely because of a short that showed up on my feed only today. I have to say that your Ork paint jobs are AMAZING! So refined and I will be coming back to take some pointers on painting up my own Ork Boyz. Admittedly, the tag for the video that said you would be 'going DEEP' made this a must watch regardless not to mention your obviously more Goff-like outfit... oh goodness... your comments at the end... wish I was an Ork...
I really enjoyed this weeks extra video. The painting tutorial was superb. I am looking forward to getting my Bomb Squig done now that I have worked out how I am going to do the flesh tones(Thank you)! Have a great rest of the week Nobs and all.
thanks for all your help with painting kommandos i didn't know where to start and how to paint my squad so thanks again now i need to put in an order for the paints lol
Love this!! Just building mine and looking to build a Ork army so contrast will go so well to get everything done quick to get playing, thank you Angela!!!
Really like the ork kommando. Felt bad to watch the imperial citizen get slain in the imperial barracks but makes me wonder if any other citizen happened to open their door and see what was going on.
Thumbs up for the innuendo puns in the title alone. "Going Commando" and "...takes on an Ork Nob." LOL. Long time lurker and I finally subscribed on this video. I figured I've watched enough of your content I might as well finally do it! :)
You knew exactly what you were doing with where you put that 'subscribe' button, haha! Also the opening skit was great and the more I watch your videos the more I honestly want to get into using contrast paints. Not for everything, but for quicker paint jobs? It just feels like it would be fun to experiment with them. Same with the gamer grass tufts cause..uh...my basing leaves a lot to be desired so far! Orks are looking fantastic so far though!
I am super happy to hear that you are interested in adding Contrast to your paint collection. Contrast paints are great but they have their place and I don't expect people to use them as often as I do, but I like to showcase them because people think they are worthless a lot of the time and that's just not true! They really can save a lot of time, which means either we get to play more games or paint more minis and either way that sounds like a good thing to me! 💜
@@HobbyNight Exactly! Like I think Contrast paints really serve well for wargames (where you need to paint a LOT of minis, looking at you Tyranids/Orks/Guard), more detailed terrain than people probably do, like D&D terrain that's smaller in scale, or for background NPCs. The type you want to look good, especially from a distance, but not spend hours getting every last detail right. Plus, as you demonstrated, you can use some more advanced techniques with contrast paints such as layering different paints for different hues, dry brushing over top for highlights, or how multiple layers of the same paint can get you very different tones. But you're like the only channel I see using them, so how is the art supposed to evolve if no one is taking them seriously? Plus, no joke, contrast paints seem FANTASTIC for beginner painters! I would ask what you consider like..the essential contrast paints, not necessarily your favorites but the ones that should form the backbone of any contrast painter's kit for how widely they'll be used.
Ok, I had to pause and give a thumbs-up just for the intro! When you were rolling along the wall I heard Anakin's voice in my head saying, "I'll try spinning. That's a good trick!" Also, massive props for being able to operate in those shoes. I'm more of a flip-flops kind of guy, and the thought of trying to scurry in those wedge heels has my ankles quaking in fear!
Lol I wear them every time I film for the height so I've gotten pretty used to maneuvering in them. I totally did trip myself once while recording during the rolling bits XD
You gave me good ideas for my AoS orcs, mostly for their gear and small little details, there’s a lot of personality to your color schemes they give you that sensation of yes this guys are savages, but they are crafty than your average ork.
Minis look great painted though I think the dynamite on the bomb squig might be better with a different color than the squig. As I'm about to start painting minis including a ton of orks out of Blitz Bowl and Blood Bowl, I find videos like this excessively helpful. Thanks for all the great tips & teaching!!
This is a really good way to do ork skin i've had my little boy paint an ork using that scheme for ork flesh on his first time doing ork and he found it very easy to do with him being only five so he really enjoyed it and did not get put off straight away as this can make younger hobbeyers not get into it as much as they would :)
First have to say, it would have been a 'riot' if one the "normals", had rounded the corner just as the Kommando was creeping up on the victim with her massive Axe of Death. LOL Ive never used Contrast paints, but 'considering', as your work looks great.
You two continue to be awesome!! I am, however, surprised your husband still has all of his body parts after having received all of those blows from your battle ax.
Would be so curious to see how you would do an Ork vehicle. I feel like contrast paints on those big armour panels don’t always react the way you’d want 😩
I've painted a few tanks with Contrast and have never really experienced any issues but I do think that would be a lot of fun. I'd probably end up treating the Ork vehicle much like how I did their terrain which you can check out here 👉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SsAhonClOCE.html
Black Templar has more blue in it where as Baslicanum Grey leans more yellow. So I tend to use them on very different reasons when I am painting so I've not done a strict comparison. But I will say Black Templar is a lot more opaque so if all you are wanting is a dark neutral color tone, then Black Templar will get you that result faster and with less paint used.
They are not available as individual models. They are sold only as a set. Part of the Ork Kommando box, or in this case I got them with the Kill Team Octarius box set.
We be da orks,da strongest, toughest and meanist .We stomps on the da bodies of our foes. Da squigs, well dey be our friends.Hoppy and all.Serious note squig bomb-are they mimicking the goblin doom diver ? I ask because i play 2nd to 4th edition.
Kinda, but more ground based. In game it's more an on-field counter for a one-off anti-tank round, so I kind of think of them like a targeted Night Goblin Fanatic.
