Thank you for sharing! I live out in Colorado but grew up close to Harriman State Park. I hike in the area every time I visit and have had an insatiable fascination with the region for many years. Your video was nice to see as I've yet to explore Doodletown myself. Thank you again for taking the time to put this out there.

The open pit concrete structure looks very much like effluent settling tanks for sewage water treatment. Tanks were filled and allowed to sit relative still as the solid biomasses would settle to the bottom where chain driven scrapers would rotate very slowly drawing the waste to a collection tank at one end. This is a common primary treatment process in current water treatment facilities.

Rich Siegel Not related to Rob but my grandparents had one of the homes in Doodletown in part 2 of great video. They spelled Siegel on signwrong.Visited a few times in late 50`s & early 60`s. when i was a kid. They sold to someone just couple years before State Park made everyone move out. Sold for $10,000. Great memories of the place . Went back once to visit before signs of homes put up & looked for anything on the property but I guess you can never go back.

I think the locked building was the filtration plant for the water supply for Iona Island, the nearby park HQ or facilities at Bear Mt. That's why the bags of powdered charcoal.

Descendants of owners used to meet once a year inside foundation of school & just used to talk about the town.

The Wikipedia page also says “Hikers are urged to be wary of rattlesnakes, copperheads, black snakes and garters still prevalent in the area”
