Going grey as a teenager 

What if it is not cause by genetics? please answer

I had grey hair since 15 years old

What is your ethnic or racial background? I am asking this question, because you have dark hair plus may be having grey hair as a teenager has to do with your ethnicity or race.

Thank you! It definitely took me some years to accept my hair, especially when I was still in high school I just hated the attention it got me (I just wanted to be invisible honestly), but now I love how it looks

I'm half-asian/half-white too and I first noticed gray hairs around 17-ish, I have always felt really insecure about it, but watching this video really helped me start to feel better about it!

I’m also half Asian/white! I’m 18 and I had my first grey hairs when I was around 12. The film Howl’s Moving Castle made me feel really happy to have grey hair if that helps you :-)

In all honesty: I thought it was colored this way deliberately, and saw it as cool and hip 0.o

I hope my friends think like you mam, they always teased me,i know they re joking but everyrime they tease me somehow my heart hurtt so much, that i wont speak for a day XD

Enjoy your journey to silver hair! It's something that should definitely be spoken about more, and I think that the current generation of greying adults like us is a lot more open to talking about greying, rather than pretend it doesn't happen.

I know it can be difficult to look different than the people around you, especially with grey hair as a young person. I don't think you need to toughen up, but I do think your friends need to stop making you feel crap over it. Continue to colour your hair if that makes you feel confident, and go natural if you feel like it. Your hair is part of you and it's beautiful, whether grey or dyed ❤

yup had to go through that as well. and trust me I colored my hair all the time-and now my hair looks awful. Ive only stopped just before this fiasco with the pandemic. And now the pandemic is "helping" me with not colouring my hair. haha. im instead looking at ways to apply makeup differently, colours to use, hairstyles, etc. .but you do you boo, whatever makes you happy and at peace with yourself

Same im 18,and i live in asia u know what that mean :" grey hair = old ppl, they always kinda freak out with their expression that annoys me everytime "OMG Why you have so many white hairs" "You look like my grandpa hahaha" "Man you shouldnt put too much stress you have so many white hairs" i know most of em make jokes about my hair i know they dont mean it,but every time they said that it just broke me mentally,it change my mood for the rest of the day.. i cried inside and i just smiled hoping they ll talk something else ,im a guy yea but i got hurt everytime they say that.. i really wanna scream at them "I dont know why it happened!!it s not genetic,i have a very healthy diet and i exercise daily and yea im stress free unless when u make fun of me" i really feel insecure with this you know.. i never even look at my reflection in the mirror,i never sit on the front row cause i dont want ppl behind me and see my hair.. everytime i said to myself it s okay they always point it out again and make myself feel bad again,there is no one around me that actually think "oh grey hair?so what it just a diff hair color?why do you think it s matter you still look gorgeous whatever hair colour you have" but no,none of them think like that,they look at me either with a pitiful look or a weird look while laughing,i m so mad that i want to scream "stop looking at my hair stop saying im old" i hope they know how it feels to have grey hairs at young age

I am in the same boat as you, I started growing grey at 14 and I thought it was stress from worrying about my future and future exams. I would get teased by my cousins and friends to the point I didn't want to go out, I am noticing that alot of younger people are going grey it's getting very common, I find it embarrassing to buy just for men, I went to boots and I saw young people early twenties and younger buying hair dye, we are not seeing it because people are secretly dying there hair so you are definitely not alone, more people than you realise, the world is making people go prematurely grey, could be the environment that's causing it so stand up proud it's normal and my mum says age has nothing to do with it.

I'm so happy you're taking this step! It must be difficult to stop colouring after so many years of doing it, but it will also be exciting for you to discover what your hair looks like underneath. And if you don't like it, you can go back to hair dye, it's not permanent :) Enjoy the journey

@@marinalala that's great! You stuck with it. I hope I can stay committed. But dyeing my hair every 2 week is causing painful sores so I don't really have a choice. I can't even use those sprays to hide the grey. Think I'm allergic. 😣 Anyway keep at it and I will do my best to also stick to this goal.

I started going gray since 10 years old.. now I'm 24 years old.. only dyed 3 times over the 14 years period.. i just learn to accept it haha

There's nothing wrong naman Kung magkaputi ka ng buhok ng maaga ihhh marami nga nagsabi saakin na ang cool daw saka kakaiba... Ang medyo nakakabano Lang is Yung mga Taong nambubully sau medyo nakakaba ng self confidence. Medyo nakasanayan ko na nga rin tawaging Lola HAHSHA

Dyed hair is beautiful too, and I love the texture henna gives to hair. Before I went quite so gray, I occasionally used henna as a hair mask. Love the hay-like smell of it too 😂

I like your attitude! Definitely play around with haircuts too, I find that men and women with short hair have the luxury of really showing off the texture and colour differences in grey.

@@SpinstersLibrary A little girl recently told me that she likes my "sparkly hair", meaning the grays. I like that way of looking at it.

Glad you've found a routine that works for you! I wish people would just stop with their unwanted opinions on grey hair... I don't go round telling people that their highlights don't suit them, but for some reason people feel entitled to talk about grey hair that's not on their heads.

I would have been so jealous of your hair as a child! I grew up in Germany surrounded by blond kids and my own dark hair didn't have any variation in it until it started going grey in secondary school. Glad to hear you're more comfortable with your natural hair now :)

Remember, it's always in your power to change your hair if you don't like it - nothing wrong wit using hair dye! But I do hope you give your grey hair a chance, you might end up liking it.

Grays definitely stick out if you have dark hair to begin with, like we do. And yes, people used to make me aware of my hair in my early 20s especially, as if I hadn't noticed!

Sounds like it runs in the family! I inherited my mum's greys too, my brother on the other hand doesn't have any yet at 26.

Hm, I wonder whether types with naturally dark hair go grey earlier or if it's just more noticeable when we do! I love the look of a bright grey streak though, glad you're rocking it (and got rid of the boyfriend who didn't like it 😂)
