What a great lesson! Maybe my favorite Dire Straits song always wanted to learn it thought it was too complicated but you made it very simple. Thank you so much. Great lesson.
yet another fantastic video…it’s one of my favourite songs and your help is really appreciated… I’m busy for a couple of weeks and will have to leave the other videos for another day…I can’t wait to hopefully be able to play this song…you are a legend Ivor…many thanks as always…
Alright Ivor, hope you're well. This is hands down my favourite piece of music. I remember recording the Dire Straits On Every Street concert at Basel in 1992 on my VHS. MK played this one at the end and I was blown away. I watched it so many times I'm surprised the tape didn't snap. Another great lesson.
Great stuff. As I’m a terrible guitarist, some guidance on the strumming pattern for the rhythm guitar part would help. I suspect it’s mostly by feel to the song, but I’m all over the place
Ivor, once again I am indebted to your knowledge and concise teaching methods. It’s Saturday night, I’ve just transcribed this for proper hands-on practice tomorrow but meanwhile I’m celebrating England beating Ireland so can’t give this my undivided attention. Thank you once more. Incidentally is your guitar amplified here ? A bit ? Cheers .... and my very best!
Thank you for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed my lesson. The rhythm track was recorded on my looper pedal and played back through my small acoustic amp. I then played the lead part acoustically against the rhythm track and recorded the result on my bridge camera using the camera's in-built mic. Ivor
Great to hear this. What do you reckon about the Gerry Rafferty track from that album? ‘That’s the Way it Always Starts.’ On of my favourite songs, great to hear the pair of them together!
