i recently started playing again and i love byzantines, such a fun cancept with the oil and mercenaries and the dark age greek reminds me on Age of Mythology

I know he's meming but.. If they actually went with Spain, it would be an interesting choice what kingdom they would choose. Lots happened in the middle ages over there. The Byz actually controlled Spain for about 60 years as well. Ofcourse vikings would be an easy pick but don't forget about the Mamluk empire either. It's pretty much Egypt before Ayyubids took it over.

Aoe2 and 4 are the same time period. That’s why nobody asks about aoe3

Now we have interesting situation in all ranks ranking. First 4 places are variants civs, with 5th and 6th win rate we have Japanese and Byz - also two new civs :)
