Taking a break from woodworking and finally hitting some offroad in the Montero since the new shocks, springs, tires, wheels & LSD in the rear plus rear AC delete. #montero #offroad #pajero
Yeah I do wish mine had that as it's a 2003-06 only. However if there are any electrical issues, TPMS etc on those - 4x4 might not work, while 01-02 XLS is fully mechanical and wouldn't have the issue
@@LeoTheRussian near Atlanta but sometimes im down south an hour out of Tallahassee. (Originally from Houston tx.) but Yeah maintenance when you don’t have the tools is expensive. I need to do my crank seal camseals valve covers and while it’s apart even though I did a timing belt kit about 12 K miles ago gonna redo it with oem and do seals. Then a polytuff bushings kit.
@@LeoTheRussian yea I went to dealer a few times and they are outrageous i wanna do the work but no tools and no safe place to work on it our driveway is a hill so no jackstands here. Just the timing belt job cost me 1300 with parts afraid to see what it will cost to do it with basically all oil seals for the engine. Except this time ill provide the parts
@@killer0034 are you in the Montero group on FB? there might be local to you guys who can help out. In central FL we have a legit community here & one guy Leo has helped quite a few with TB's and other repairs. He did my front springs, shocks, wheel bearings and axle. I hooked him up with a couple of signs (Dakar & Datsun) :)
Nice vid, all pajs look great. Interested to know what the cream colored paj had done to the rear bumper. Looks like it was shortened with the lights moved to the side lights, wonder how much more cleqrqnce it gets. Seems you guys dont run bash plates, that was the first part to fail for me, a peice of wood punctured mine and made a hole in my intercooler.
Hola que tal? Me parece fenomenal tu video al igual que tu montero. Quisiera preguntarte que marca de espirales y que numero de amortiguadores marca Bilstein tendria que comprar para elevar 1 1/2 , mi monetro limited 2008? Gracias:
That's exactly why you're having a hard time starting the montero, the backpressure in the tank wouldn't let the fuel go to the injectors . The purge solenoid must be bad or the vent valve on the charcoal canister
Weirdly it went away after I purged it in the video and hasn't been an issue ever since. We did swap fuel pump about a month after this but knock on wood zero issues
@@tonyrodriguez3510 gotta edit the drl/halos video, snorkel install and a final full build video. I'm on a cross country roadtrip for a couple of months after selling my gym and house so gonna try and get around to videos when I get a chance
The Pajero/Montero is a great car. The reason Mark's NP made it look easy would be due to Traction Control. O believe that was introduced in the NP version but the LSD was still in the NM.
Yeah I could tell by his front wheel slowing down where's mine was spinning. Mine is XLS so just a 4 speed trans with LSD in the rear. Might eventually go dual LSD or get the 03-06 one instead.
@@OnCountryWithMicknice. No manuals or diesels in the states sadly. Yeah I'm fine with mine for all the purposes. More than plenty capable. And now I even got 18.8 mpg driving it around last week. Which is fantastic
@@LeoTheRussian not sure what MPG is in out measurements. Shame you don't get Manual or Diesel although I rather Petrol anyway. I rather drive a Manual though. They are a great vehicle and very capable.
Motegi MR150 in 16x8 zero offset. They almost look like oem but a bit more curvy. Wished they'd come in gunmetal but only bronze or black. Heres a vid when i first got them ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kw-iaASxagM.html
Your fuel was boiling in the tank. Out here in Death Valley it is a common occurrence during the hot weather when I am out in my montero. Gasoline has an extremely low boiling temperature Is compared to water or oil
About 8 or 900. Lovells springs are about 200 a pair on Luso and bilstein shocks about the same. Was about to get kyb shocks but they were out of stock so went with bilsteins
2.5 are the most coveted especially winter package (has a locker). As far as 2 vs 2.5 vs 3 - if you mostly want hiking/overlanding and fairly straightforward trails - gen3 will be beyond capable. It's nuts what they can do especially if equipped with rear LSD or thr 2003-06 traction control. 2 and 2.5 are body on frame with solid rear axle and IFS vs fully independent gen3 so are better for more serious offroad/crawling. Gen3s are bigger inside I believe and behave better/more comfortable on longer roadtrips
Hasn't had any troubles after letting the tank normalize. Swapped fuel pump regardless just in case but been 2 or 3 months now plus another offroad trip with lots of idling and no issues at all.
Does anyone know what the clicking noise is that the white one was making? Mine does the same thing in 4wd and I'm wondering if it's the front differential. I replaced the cv axles, but still makes the noise.. mostly happens when making tight turns at low speed which was making me think it's the spider gears in the diff 🤷♂️ 1:42 and 3:05
Are you part of Gen 3 Monteros group or Mitsubishi Monteros USA on Facebook? Daryles's is the white one and he's on it as well as the rest of the guys. Anytime I ever have a question the group's have been hugely helpful
@@LeoTheRussian ok, cool thanks for the info. I'm actually not on Facebook. Maybe I'll have to get on there sometime and join that montero group. Driving me crazy not being able to figure out what's wrong!
@@LeoTheRussian I currently live in the surrounding areas of Kansas City, MO. Although, I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas so I like to go there every chance I can. I’d love to get more into off-roading with my Montero, however at the moment it might as well be stock so I’d prefer to mod it up a bit before I go. Although, tax season is here so that may end up happening sooner than later. I’d love to explore more of the entire country with the rig once it’s prepped and ready
@@mtheoverlord7840 get some skid plates and send it. It'll be fine. What year is yours? And if you're not a member definitely join the Monteros USA group on FB. That's where I met all the Montero bros :)
@@LeoTheRussian It’s a 2003 Montero Limited. Sadly when I got it, it was probably the lowest trim you could get it. No sunroof, no rear AC, no fog lamps, no center compass (instead it’s just a digital clock, no extra controls), no power/heated seats, etc. I did add in OEM fog lamps, it’s really just as simple as getting the wiring harness, a relay, the physical switch and the lamps and it’s plug and play from there. I’d love to add more oem equipment, however I don’t believe everything will be as simple as the fog lamps were. As for the skid plates, the ones that came with the car when I got it were worn down (plastic ones, most likely from the factory?). I’m wanting to get some Boo Bash Plates, but they are out of stock and if my memory serves right won’t be restocked until spring
@@mtheoverlord7840 it's not a bad thing tbh that it's a simple one especially if you're missing the rear AC (you can check on passenger side under the rear bumper - of its a void - then you don't have it). That is one of the more vulnerable spots. The rest is just less stuff to break. Mine is xls so cloth seats etc but did have sun roof and fog lights. Pretty sure you can just plug the trip computer from limited in. I'll likely remove mine anyways and put a dedicated navigation unit in that spot instead (have a dual screen setup in my Infiniti with top always being navi and love it)
Hi there, I’m one of your channel fan from a secret place in Saudi Arabia 🤣. Can you please take about your pajero roof crossbars. I couldn’t find a good fit for my roof rack.
Most of the guys in the US run OMAC bars that are very slim and fit perfectly. Very inexpensive for how great they are as well. I've been using them to transport my heavy tandem kayak with no issues.
@@LeoTheRussian Some of the times I thought someone was going to flip and when I saw the person sitting on the ground with a camera, the car tilted in that direction! So Montero's are built like Jeeps?
@@graphicsdesignedforyou haha allegedly a much higher quality build than Jeeps but due to age and neglect they can be a bit janky and require some initial invetsment to catch up on maintenance etc since they're at least 15 years old by now. They do have 4x4, low range, locking central and sometimes rear differential. Very capable offroad indeed. Everything in the video was fairly low key however. I just came back from a much harder offroad event with nothing breaking and no issues, but didn't really shoot any video (cold day plus too many trucks and tight course).
Hi! Nice vid, I’am a Montero gen 3 owner to like the silver one, do you have the Instagram, contact o Facebook group link to see his rear bumper and winch set up, I’m trying to reach the montero G3 on FB but I’m in Chile so a think because of that it’s not apper on my search, thanks.
