There’s was a time that I was coming up to a light and it turned yellow as I was about 10 feet away from the light, but there was a car right behind me so I thought if I stopped he would of hit me instead I accelerated and the light turned red as I crossed. And felt bad since as I’m a newer driver
The same case could also be said for level crossing lights. Some people would say to the police officer ‘it was amber’. One bus driver back in 1992 went through a level crossing when the lights were red. He was fined by magistrates, lost his job and had his bus driving license revoked.

See the amber light go over the white line and then you can go through it, simple most drivers go past the white line when they see amber, so they are right to go past.

As a pedestrian, the number of times you can hear a car accelerate through an amber light is frightening. Then you have those who would use the argument if I stop at the amber light I might cause an accident, but when you look there are no vehicles within 30 feet of it or simply none at all. Also when you are crossing on a green man recently, I was aware of a car approaching on a red light and when I was 90% across the road I looked and the car had gone over the stop line by over half its length on a red light. I have even been crossing on a green man when a car has shot through the red light missing me by 3-5 feet.

In the United Kingdom which drives on the left, turns on red is prohibited. No left on red, no right on red onto a one-way street, and no right on red from a one-way onto a one-way either.
Iv not past my test yet but I have noticed that if I'm to far from a temporary traffic light it's worth edgeing forward a little to let the sencer knows your waiting

If a car have crossed front two wheels at the stop line while in queuing traffic and not blocking the crossing and box junction also ahead , while waiting the traffic light changes to red but car has not moved forward does this count as offence , there was camera at the junction could this be offence ?

i was scared of points on my license as I'm a new driver and i believe i crossed red light accidently. (my dad sitting with me said I didn't crossed RED). I got flashed by a stop camera, it changed from green to amber as I was on top of the white line doing 40mph, how could I have possibly stopped, even at 30mph there was no way…
I got for caught for running through the red light and just received £100 fine ticket with 3 points added to my licence. No awareness course offer so I had to carried the points for 4 years. My 2 years driving probation end on 20 Feb 2022. Since I had 3 points if I build up to 6 points in the first 2 years of passing my driving test then my licence will be revoked then I have to do whole process of tests again. So this time I have to take very extra caution as I don't want to have any points again. Guy be aware most of traffic light camera are now working if you seen the light going green for sometime just be prepare to stop as the light will change!
@Omar Malik no mate, why would I get 6 points while I only did 1 offence? Usually if you ran the red light you will get £100 fine and possibly 3 points adding to your licence unless if you are guilty and accept you were a driver at that time. You maybe get offer for awareness course since it's your first offence. Like speeding offence, you can get anywhere from 3 points to Banned depending on how much speed you exceed from the limit. You only get 6 points if you been caught using mobile phone while driving a car! Like I said if you get flashed from red light, wait for letter to come through a post within 14 days. If you not hear anything after then that's clear ☺️
@Omar Malik if you buid up 6 points in the first 2 years then yeah your licence will be revoked then you have to start the whole process again mate. But that 6 points will never get ride on your licence you still carries those points on your new licence too. Just drive sensible bro. You will be ok. Just not to worries too much. Either you get 3 points on that flashed or get an offer to attend aware course so points can be removed.

Really frustrating goes the last one and a half year I have been trying to have my driving license but unbelievable work of dvla. At least they should exchange or give extension to international license.

I ran a red light this morning. Light wasn't changing Maybe due to the snow and ice. It was clear for me to go so I went. I'm not going to sit there for ever.
Last year I sat in a left turn lane at an intersection that is usually moderately busy. The light wouldn't change for about 5 minutes even when I was the only one there a couple of separate instances. So I got tired of that and went through at a safe moment. There was a camera but nothing ever happened.
What if normal traffic light sticks on red, even after many minutes, and does not change. It happens at my local traffic lights occasionally, although only at night, when there's no or very minimal traffic.
Hi. I am guessing that there are sensors at those lights which detect if there is traffic or not. When no traffic is dectected, the lights remains. If you stop too far from the line, it will not change. Try edging forward to to the line
@@dtc_uk thank you, I've tried flashing my headlights, but it doesn't seem to effect the situation, few times I've had to just go through, as have other drivers, the junction is such that everything is very visible by over 100 metres. I have a dash cam, but I feel that I'm still breaking the rules.

@@dtc_uk good. Cause i just passed, and did this on a red light camera yesterday. Sun was infront and i noticed too late it was changing, and proceeded anyway. Passed stop line on yellow and continued . Opposite traffic start crossing after 3-4 sec after i passed . Hopefully camera didn't went on.
I was at a four way junction with a traffic light camera, The side road light became green and I thought it was mine, I moved a bit and crossed the white lines but did not crossed the whole junction, I think the camera flashed on me. What should I expect?
i did this today but no cameras there was a police car behind me but they drove off and carried on. Is it likely that i will be retrospectively ticketed for it?

I was waiting at a crossroads the light won’t Amber and green but the light to the left as I was going through was on red? The car behind me was going the same way and they didn’t. So I couldn’t of got it wrong 🤷♂️

I went through a red light last night. It turned amber and I was close enough where I thought I could beat it but I didn't. I went through half a second after it changed but still ran a red light regardless. I never try and beat red lights idk what came over me yesterday. It was at night, no other cars or pedestrians around, no cops and I didnt see a camera flash. Is it likely I'll get fined? Fair enough if I do

They were installed fairly recently (lucky me) Is it still likely I'll get fined given the lack of cars or pedestrians? This whole thing as freaked me out a bit, probably more than it should but I've never done gone through a red light before

Lies. What if the light is red. Has been red for 4 hours. Not a single car in sight… are you gonna wait another 4 hours or would you run the light? If I come to a red light, but there is not a single car in sight on an old back road or even a usually busy road at 4am without a single car in sight… take the red… its a man made construct… don’t let a stupid light dictate your life. “Amber” or Yellow lights mean you need to go faster to make it lol 😂😂😂
