Interesting Craig. Thank u for the insight to life in the Philippines. The weather and beautiful beach resorts might make me more tolerant of the poverty
If you wish to retire or live in The Philippines I suggest please think a lot about which region do you like to go. Luzon,Visayas or Mindanao. There are some cultural differences and food differences in these 3 regions. For example if you want some mountains, colder weather, some good beaches as well you can choose Baguio City❤ or La Trinidad, Bemguet. It is about 2,000 plus feet above sea level with varieties of vegetables and fruits. Also, knowing somebody who is from The Philippines helps a lot. Hope this helps.❤
The Philippines will remain in poverty until more than 1 out of 5 family members work. The fact is the laziness and the unwilling to work attitude is ridiculous. The parents love to leech off their children or relatives. The culture breeds poverty and entitlement. A working person can't possibly get out of poverty with a family full of lazy bums. At first I felt sorry for the people but now after seeing the reality I feel sorry for the people who work that have pure scumbags as family members. It may be harsh but it's 💯% fact. You can't have a society where the useless out number workers 5 to 1. 🥂
My wife told me once that it's tougher for over-30s to get a job. If you walk around a department store look at the ages of all the staff. They're kids. Is this some kind of unwritten policy? I take your comments onboard 👍
It probably is harder to get a job in your thirties in the Philippines. The problem is these people don't want to work whether they're 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, or '60s. The Philippines needs to completely restructure their society and focus on work ethic and education. There are plenty of successful people in the Philippines of all ages, those people's attitudes need to spread amongst the general population. If the Philippine government wasn't so corrupt, they'd be helping young students with college education or trades for jobs. Something to help give them a future.
Millions of Philippine people work overseas and send money home. The Filipinos had perfectly a functionary economy until WW2. Sure, there are bad apples in every economy, but my goodness, the sheer effort the Filipinos take to nourish and support their families is immense.
I am retired and wish to escape some of the English winter in Philippines. Where are good ex pat communities with friendly retirement facilities. I am married, not looking for Dames.
@@TropicShade I haven't been to Orlando since 1986. Is people living in shacks and tents next to the road there as well now? Is Magic Kingdoms full of mushroom user too like in L.A.?
You saw my previos comment about me not liking your accent. I dont mind it its just the last youtuber who made me hate the accent. Normally i love irish and scottish accents they are admirable
As another Scot who grew up in 70s Ayrshire i saw poverty. Not the absolute poverty of Phils but people with coal fires still and no indoor toilet. Borrowing money to keep electricity on etc. booze and bad living to distract. So it’s maybe not as shocking. Though seeing babies on the street still gets to me. Retiring early and going out to live in the new year.
