Got sent here by the Corridor Crew. Amazing work you've done, fantastic video. Your incredible work bamboozled Nico and Wren into thinking it was real stop-motion.
@@mclovinpo I'm pretty sure it's meant to be stop-motion for that one singular scene, and then the other full-body shots are suitmation, since there's no way a human in that suit would be able to bend over so far. You can tell when the animation is replicating suitmation, puppetry, or stop-motion.
I just saw 1954 for the first time 2 days ago, and man, this just feels like more footage of that. How did you get it to all be so accurate? It's amazing! Edit: I just saw you posted a bts video so Imma check that out!
Watching this on Corridor Crew had me questioning life, because I couldn't recall if the original Godzilla had stop motion or not, so I was going along with it so well. Excellent work!
I love the fact that in some scenes it looks like stop motion, and sometimes hand puppets and then back suitmation style The level of detail is just, even the flames look like they were hand painted! I love everything about this video Truly feels like a love letter to the original 1954 film
This has got to be one of the best pieces of fanmade Godzilla media I have ever seen on top of being one of the scariest depictions I've ever seen of the big guy along with feeling like I'm watching the original movie all over again. He appears 40 seconds in, but it's done so masterfully, he's as quiet as a cat in a manner where you wouldn't even know he's in the same space as you until it's too late. It's also really unnerving how real it feels in that it's just so authentic in its presentation. I love how the fire is as big as it would be if it was a man in a suit on a set and Godzilla's character animation just feels like Godzilla, being that you could forget that this was all made in Blender with how well every aspect of it was handled and the techniques taken to make this look like a live action film. I think what really sold me on this was your usage of THE Godzilla roar, the one that Shinagawa-Kun and MinusGoji used a lot, being saved for his regeneration at the end. It really felt as if he has gotten significantly stronger since they never used it in the original film outside of the opening credits. Another favorite thing about this that I wanna mention is his atomic breath, it looks as if it was made in the same way that they made it so long ago. In short: I love this because of how it pays its respects to the franchise in its presentation, bringing out a visceral feeling when watching it that hadn't been reached since the original.
The fact that it moves like the original godzilla but it kinda has a realistic muscle movement gives it this rather eerie aura, like real footage of something surreal. Also, gotta love that Harry Hausen stop motion animation moment.
Incredible! A brilliant love-letter the 1954 movie. It is what Eiji Tsuburaya dreamed of 70 years ago. He wanted a stop-motion animated Godzilla. Now you got it. Also, the combining between a man in a suit, stop-motion, and puppetry is purely brilliant.
@@tnozaki4372 If it wasn't on RU-vid yet when the first comments started arriving, it is now. Your work is featured and applauded in their video that looks at the Fallout TV show. Great work. You deserve even more attention.
h-holy fuck... you son of bitch you did it. You sold me on CGI. This is amazing, this is the best CG animation I've ever seen in my life, the stop motion, puppet, and suitmation shots are all perfect. The framerate, the textures, the way everything blends together, everything moves like it's supposed to... man I had no idea people could make stuff like this, this is amazing. It's not just a cartoon it actually looks legitimately real.
This has got to be some of the best godzila stuff I seen in a long time it perfectly uses the atmosphere and tone of the first gojira movie the movements are beautiful looking and everything is just so well done definitely worth the wait your so talented good job
I'm honestly astounded by how incredible this was! This is without a doubt one of the best Godzilla fan animations ever made! You somehow absolutely *NAILED* the look and feel of classic Showa era Toho tokusatsu better than I could've even imagined being possible, and in blender no less! I can't praise your work on this enough!
Here after watching this on Corridor Crew's channel and the revelation on how this was made blew my mind. That is incredible work you've done there! Well done!
This... is art. You are working very hard to replicate the 1950's effects even in small details. You deserve to have as much attention for the effort and incredible work you put into the animation.
THIS GUY IS THE DEFINITION OF QUALITY OVER QUANTITY! THE STOP MOTION LOOK YOU GAVE AT THE TRAIN SCENE WAS IMPRESSIVE AND OVERALL USELESS, BUT YOU DID. IT ANYWAY AND. IT WORKS!
I honestly can't believe this was made in Blender. Everything about this is perfect, from the atomic breath effect, to the sound design, and even the way Godzilla moves! Such a wonderful homage to the original Toho films. Thank you so much for making this!
DUDE...how has this not gone viral yet?? This is better than a a good chunk of Godzilla films out there. This captures the spirit of 1954 perfectly, while doing its own thing in a cool way. I love your cinematography here. I hope the world rewards you for your efforts.
This is amazing, absolutely perfect feel and look! Watched this on CorridorCrew, I'm a CG artist and I didn't suspect a thing! The only minor detail that felt a tiny bit suspicious while watching was the dust dirt and scratches, it had an "added in post" feeling, but I just couldn't wrap my head around it and ignored it. Then ofc after the reveal I realized why. I used to do digital film restoration (cleanup of scanned footage) and the patterns used here felt repeating and out of place. The "digital dirt" of lingering white horizontal video streaks happens when digitizing a video tape, and the physical artifacts of black and white dust/dirt spots and vertical scratches are indicating photo scanning of a film reel. This usually doesn't happen at the same time, you have either or, not both. Regardless, this is insane work, blew my mind!
@@Yktv.andre413 Personally the man in the suit doesn’t cut it for me, it leans too much into shock horror which I think is completely overused in analog horror and is the reason why the horror genre has lost some of its appeal over the past year or so. But hey it’s cool if you like it
@@MintTea2005 trust me i understand your frustrations with the man in the suit in the analog genres a whole I like it because it’s Godzilla related but this video right here is really what I’m looking for tbh 1954 was always my favorite Godzilla
I used to know a guy on FB LONG AGO, and he pitched an idea of a Found Footage Godzilla film. At first, I thought nothing of it, but in later years, sounds like a fun idea if done right.
As someone who owns every Godzilla film ever made, I really love this! One of the few creepy dark Godzilla's. No boring dialogue, just cool visuals and vibes. Very neat!
bro went to 1954 and cooked this. the FPS slowing in the stop-motion, suit's dorsal fins waving like they are costume parts, the old looking atomic breath, this is incredibly beautiful!. Perfect👌 also can you post a version that doesn't have 50's movie effects? (not low resolution and colorful)
Dude this looks UNBELIEVABLY authentic, this is easily one of the most impressive Blender animations I've ever seen. It so tangibly feels like an old Tokisatsu film, I almost couldn't believe some of the shots were done in CG. And the stop motion clip looked even more authentic. There were a few testy shots here and there that were obviously CG but for the most part I was blown away at how you were able to capture the realistic lighting of a real tokisatsu set. Fantastic work overall, I was very impressed.
Truly the most impressive “RU-vid video” I’ve ever seen. This feels like so much more than that. This is like finding the lost true sequel to Gojira. I genuinely love this and would watch a full movie. Keep up the great work. This is something special.
This says 3D animation, but I'd swear most of the Godzilla shots were a suit or puppets like the original film. The "stop motion" segment was fantastic as well! Also, repeating the same shot of the tank driving down the street multiple times to give the illusion of more tanks, is exactly what these old films did. The way you've emulated the degraded black and white film quality, the framing, and the camera pans is the icing on top. Every bit of this demonstrates an intimate knowledge and appreciation of the first Showa Era films. (Just watched the making of video) UNBELIEVABLE! What a fantastic achievement this whole project is!
Your animation of Godzilla at 2:06 and 4:38, does such a good job of capturing the "wiggle" movement of what happens when the rubber suit is shaken from side to side. Even the newer Godzilla suits still have some that wiggle. Just wanted to let you know I absolutely appreciated and loved that detail, it's very nostalgic for me.
I keep coming back to this animation. It is, by far, one of the greatest blender animations I think I’ve ever seen. The way you manage to capture the feeling physical movement in Godzilla and the dread of the original 1954 movie is nothing short of impressive.
Such a great take on the Godzilla design! I love that you pulled from Shin Goji as well as the hand puppet and original Toho concept design. Super cool! Great work here! And holy shit! When he fires his heat ray, I was not ready for that. So good!!!
The way idependant artists are bringing back the look and feel of early practical effects with CGI will never cease to amaze me, this absolutely rules.
I love how it looks rather realistic and fairly dramatic while using shots that resemble suitmation, puppetry, and even stop-motion. You managed to capture the atmosphere of the original firm pretty well. Good job 👍
This should be a RU-vid creator awards winner one day , the movement is a remindence for suitimation as well as the special & visual effects created by none other than eiji tsuburaya himself , if this gains reviews , I love to see some future Godzilla movies come to light with this format , also wanting to see some Ray harryhausen films remade with that same technique you give in blender , that goes for the lesser known monster films produced by other indie companies or American international pictures with it as well with a more modern mix
I love the blown highlights on the flames, how the left leg moves like it's a huge costume after Gojira falls over, the depth of field making it look like rear-projection when Gojira walks into the tanks waiting there, and the amazing sound design. This short film feels like it takes you to a different time.
I thought this would be like a scary spooky vid, and don't get me wrong, it did have me on edge. But the way there's some scenes that look like stop motion, a hand puppet, even the way the beams look like classic early Ultraman beams... it's just beautiful. If you told me this was a fan recreation of 54 Gojira made with practical effects, like, I would believe you completely. Such an amazing work, you really now your craft... like this is one of the most gorgeous animations I've seen. What I'm trying to say is, I'm a fan now.
