I saw them with Mastodon and Stone Sour. Such an awesome show. Stone Sour was great, Mastodon was phenomenal, and Gojira? Out of this fucking world. Like Mastodon are world class musicians and one of my top 5 favorite bands, leagues above so many others, and Gojira were still just on another level.

I saw Gojira open for Tool and was like “What the F**K is this?” I was so intrigued. -went home and discovered progressive metal. -after listening to Tool and Rush and Floyd and Zep and Sabbath for 20+ years. I’m a middle aged black dude. I know the blues. This progressive iszht is *mind blowing*.

+k10batmama I concur. There is only one downside to this for me. It's that I really cannot find lyrics or instrumentals from other bands that is nearly half as good. The only bands I even enjoy anymore besides Gojira is Trivium and Mastadon. Every time I hear lyrics from other bands, it sounds like a kid from grade school or high school made them up. They're just not intelligent at all. And let alone the instrumentals, they need no explanation.

It's been five years, a little over. A heavy wave hit the brothers recently and they really unleashed hell upon the world. This band never gave in or gave up even in the face of death and loss. Pure adversity and intensity and everything leading up to them becoming one with the wave that tried to crush them. Gojira is a force and without feeling what do you have? Nothing, but, this band conquered and released a flurry. They just never stop climbing.

I haven't had this reaction to a band in a long time. I've known about these guys for a while, but just recently started giving them a serious listen. Um. Wow. I've been missing out. One of my old bandmates from the 80s & early 90s recently said "this is the music we were always trying to write". I don't mean that Gojira sounds dated (absolutely not), but rather I mean the coolness, the dynamics, the heaviness, the psychedelic moments, the feeling. Love it.

I think this is a studio recording over a live performance. HOWEVER. I have a couple DVDs of them, and they play amazingly live. I recon they dont get drunk or high before their shows, and they pull off studio recording-like performances live. They are by far the best live performers i've ever witnessed

I love the shit out of this video. Not only because I love this song, but because this was filmed at The Studio at Webster Hall. They did two nights. I was there one of those nights. I don't remember if they were filming the night I was there, and I don't really care. Here's this band from France who made a name for themselves in America, and opened for Metallica and have played on these gigantic stages in Europe, who have this very unique and intense sound that is incredibly resonsant, playing at this tiny, intimate venue in the East Village. I can tell you, the energy was fucking incredible. I will not remember every detail of that night but I will never forget how it made me feel.

I wouldn't say best band but they are quite good live (although not on the level of lamb of god, avatar, or sepultura). And trust me, Mario is far from god of drummers, go checkout the drummers from meshuggah, decapitated,and the man brooks wackermann

Jonah Smith Mario runs circles on Wackerman... And while Tomas haake Is a drumming machine with incredible precision and timing, i find mario's drumming a little more primal, aggressive and groovy, my type of drumming

The Mastodon, Gojira, Kvelertak show was one of my all-time favorite concerts I've ever seen. Gojira brought so much intensity to the show. It was staggering to behold.
