Damn! For an environmentally-conscious band who are more at home in more bucolic surroundings they sure picked a funky place to record. Locale in point: Long Island City.
@psyckla5 probably both, most engineers use both when recording, mic's sound better, but you can use the triggers to "trigger" drum samples that you can mix in to bring out a better sound :) alot of metal records these days have pantera kick's mixed in for example ;)

Augustine Elmquist ....why who vs who? Jordison still plays the same as he did in 2001. Marios drumming has evolved vastly since thier first few records. It depends on the mind of the drummer completely to build upon his/her skills
