Seeing Gojira kicking ass at the Olympics makes me really want Finland to host the Olympics again to see what they'd come up with. They're the metal epicenter of the entire planet.

To anyone wondering : the woman at the beginning is a representation of Marie-Antoinette beheaded (she was queen of France during Louis XVI’s reign and she was executed during the French Revolution). The building is the “conciergerie de Paris” in which she was imprisoned before her execution. She sings : “it’ll be all right, the aristocrats to the post lamp; it’ll be all right, the aristocrats we will hung them!” which is a pre-revolutionary song sung by the people of Paris. The boat at the end is the emblem of Paris. At the very beginning of the video you can also see a remake of the very famous painting “La liberté guidant le peuple” (Liberty Leading the People) by Delacroix. I hope it helps understanding how great this part of the show is!

Gojira are France’s new musical ambassadors since Daft Punk retired. Which makes sense as they are Harder, Better*, Faster, and Stronger * this one might be a matter of taste, I love Daft Punk and mean them no disrespect
I'd like to rise a point and it was brave and risky to get Gojira. At the end, Gojira is well-known in the metal world, but that is a very small world. Even for people who likes rock, Gojira is very unknown. You cannot compare with Sepultura, for instance, to quote a non English or North American band. So good for them, and good for us!

I dunno. London 2012 was pretty freakin' incredible. The image of Mr. Bean playing one note, on the keyboard, over and over and over for Chariots of Fire will be forever etched into my brain. And Queen Elizabeth II (...sure), parachuting down into the stadium with a Union Jack parachute...so iconic.

There is an interview from Gojira where they explained when their manager told them about it.. They were speechless for several minutes 😆.. As french, I'm so proud of their performance !

I’m not the biggest metal fan but this is the greatest performance I think I’ve ever witnessed. There’s just so many layers as to why this is awesome. I feel like the only downside was I didn’t get to see it live.
Been with Gojira since Mars to Sirius, and I've never been to proud to be a metal head seeing them open the Olympics - fuck yea Gojira, you deserve this and more

@@rodrigocamelo1809 it would sound even better if they had the raw audio to mix properly. You can barely hear some of the guitar working going on. Those harmonics should be boosted on the intro and maybe mix Joe's vocals a bit better. it would be the same performance, but better
