Rereading this it really drives home how much Gojo loved this fight. In some way it’s fair to assume that life got boring being the strongest. In the same way Kashimo desired someone worthy of killing him to fight, to really feel combat, Gojo must’ve felt the same. Sukuna is the person Gojo has been able to emotionally connect to the most since Geto. He hasn’t been around anyone relative to him in power in almost 2 decades. I guess that’s why Gojo and Sukuna seem to have a friendlier relationship than we think because Gojo is expressing himself in the best way he knows how for the first time since hidden inventory.

Looking back on it, Gojo ALSO pitied Sukuna. "Nontheless, I feel bad for him" is what he said, yeah? For him tho, the basis on which he pitied Sukuna was different, it was "lonliness", whilst Yuji's pity for Sukuna was different, not "lonliness", at least. Also, another HUGE detail I missed was that Sukuna completely revealed Maho's adaptation to a dying/dead Gojo. He had said before, to Jogo, that he wouldn't resort to doing something as petty as revealing his technique to boost its effects. Though, he did that with Gojo (even if he was probably already dead), meaning- 1) Either he didn't plan on using Maho ever again, or 2) He genuinely wanted Gojo to know about adaptation, regardless of whether he would've used Maho again or not. Just out of his respect for Gojo, nothing else. (I think the 2nd one is more likely) Also, in the panel where he said "You did well, Satoru Gojo", if we take a more accurate representation of the kanji he used, it should come out as, "You have cleared my skies, Satoru Gojo". Just a small detail, which may have a deeper meaning to it.....
The whole thing about Sukuna "not going all out" was, I believe, in reference to his Heian era form. For those of you that remember, transforming into his Heian era form while fighting Kashimo gave him some more energy, increased his output, and healed his body (plus the whole 4 arms, 2 mouths, and stronger body). Granted, he was still pretty badly beaten from the Gojo fight, but Heian era form boosted him back up to like 5-10%. Even without Mahoraga, if Sukuna used all the energy of his Bumugi form, and then Heian era, pure output would have let him beat Gojo. The problem with that is that then his Heian era form would be badly damaged, and he would've lost to everyone else rather quickly. Getting Mahoraga was the key to killing Gojo AND having enough energy to run the Shinjuku Gauntlet.
i still think to this day the funniest part after this fight was literally everyone witnessing gojo give it his all and still get cooked just for kashimo to be like “nah i’m different” like he didn’t just witness the WCS😭😭
People hate that Gojo got off screened but could you imagine his character being scared and realizing his death was coming and being humbled? He lived and died as the strongest and went out at the height of his confidence it would have been uncomfortable to see anything else
But why would an author actually chose this as an option? Yaga didn't bawl out when he died. So Gojo wouldn't go pathetically too. Not even Nobara went out while crying but with a smile. Only keep that option for people that deserve it like Mahito. The offfscreen was one of the worst option to kill off Gojo. So let Gojo see the flash arrives, be startled and realizes that it's the end but then let death comes confidently with a smile thinking that he did enough for his students, they'll take care of it. Gojo didn't die with regret at least.

Gojo even says when was the last time I was worried about death and thinks about the one time in his life with Toji. Edit: the guy literally didn’t even realize he was dead until he saw he was in heaven, Gojos entire character rests on him being the strongest. Gojo dying would atutomatically make him lose aura. So it's all about minimizing it and trading it with something else to not damage the character. Like these characters in movies who when defeated instead of begging for their life chose to spit in the face of the enemy. Nanami didn't lose aura when he died for exemple. Concentrate on what made the core of charater and show it. Yet Gege offscreened the attack and made Gojo talk about Sukuna inside of his students when he stated early on that he wished for other poeple to be strong. The author HAS to come up with something. So in a good revision of ch236 the whole scene needs to be changed and the airport scene will be too.

He wouldn’t even see it coming because it would be an impossibility to him, a simple dodge like Maki or Todo could have avoided that WCS but Gojo was so strong and was so confident in the plan he implemented to defeat Mahoraga he became so sure he was safe behind his wall of infinity and before he even knew it he was talking to Geto in heaven. The strongest never starts preparing for their loss because they have personalities that can’t conceive it. It could be Gojo with a gun vs me with an Atomic Bomb and he wouldn’t create a bomb shelter or run before I could fire the bomb because he would be so sure he could catch me with a headshot. This genuinely has got to be one of the greatest fights ever in animanga history. Just two goats going at it not out of any sense of good or evil but just two strong forces trying to see who's better, with no rules whatsoever. Not at all mad at then outcome of the fight because it was just great to see Gojo finally go all out and both him and Sukuna showcasing their knowledge of Jujutsu. Can't wait to see it all animated, shit is gonna break the internet a second time.

This also means that, even if Gojo survives the following wrath of MS while being unable to open UV, Sukuna would have a huge advantage and wouldn't get dragged around Shinjuku like in the original fight where he couldn't use his only method to bypass infinity without 10s (Malevolent Shrine). In this scenario, I honestly don't see Gojo winning this, and if he doesn't damage him enough to the point where he's unable to open his domain or use RCT correctly by the end of the fight, the other sorcerers won't be able to compete. You want me to go further? No problem, the only reason Gojo was able to keep up at the domain clashes was because he had slightly better hand to hand skills. 2 extra arms would be very, very significant because UV and MS were destroyed at the same time over and over: Sukuna would take damage and his domain would crumble while Gojo's CT would get burnt out from keeping up the barrier. If sukuna had 2 extra arms, the difference could be as little as 1 second, but he would take, even if slightly, less damage than he needed. This would result in Gojo overusing RCT way more often and get driven into a corner which could go either way.

Though I am a Gojo Satoru and seeing him dead really upset me, The fact that he was in a 3v1 situation really made it unfair for it to be a 1 on 1 but can't blame him since Gojo's infinity is what made him untouchable in the first place. When this fight gets animated it will be the best fight of modern anime.

The fight was fantastic from its staging to its execution. It really is the culmination of all the battles in the series and really has everything you would want in a shonen fight. I particularly like how the fight ended because it was a direct callback to Reggie's words to Megumi about sorcerer's being nothing but con men. Gojo played his con, it almost worked, but Sukuna had one better and walked away the victor.

@@Cala0314I really don’t understand it when people say “Sukuna would just transform into his hein era form” when it was stated that he was keeping it until he was exhausted enough (since it completely healed him back). This would’ve meant that Sukuna would’ve had to waste time and energy on Gojo and THEN deal with the other sorcerers while in his hein era form. This essentially means that Sukuna was trying to use everything possible not to use his hein era form until absolutely necessary due to it essentially healing him up to max. Of course if it’s a pure 1v1 with nothing after then yes you’d be correct and Sukuna would do better however in the showdown Sukuna knew that he would be jumped after killing Gojo.
I am a certified Gojo stan and this is top 3 modern manga fights for sure. People trying to clown on Gojo for losing in this fight make me laugh, because they must have been reading with one eye closed. "Sukuna wasn't trying," "Sukuna low diff," "Sukuna was just trying to prove he could overcome Infinity, he could have won earlier if-" blah blah blah. Sukuna was on the back foot for like 2/3 of this fight. Gojo was on offense most of the time. Whenever they threw hands, Gojo won (see: Gojo beating Sukuna so badly during the domain clashes to force him to drop his domain in 3 minutes). Gojo was the one who came up with the idea of using RCT to restore burned-out cursed techniques, Sukuna copied that off him (which is wild when you realize Sukuna never thought of that as a possibility in the last thousand years). Plus, as was established in this video, Gojo went into this fight with close to zero intel, while Sukuna knew pretty much everything about Gojo. Intel is half the battle. For example, if Gojo knew about the conditions for Sukuna's domain, he would have gone in differently from the start. And look, I'm not a Sukuna hater, far from it. I think Sukuna is one of the coolest villains in modern anime (although I do find it funny how much Gege glazes him; he's second only to Yujiro from Baki). But honestly, this fight showcased Gojo's ability more than Sukuna's. Gojo straight-up tanking Malevolent Shrine with RCT, ultimately winning the domain clash (seriously, Sukuna would have been dead at 11:07 if not for Mahoraga), and that *insane* piece of battle IQ at the end to create the final Purple, including using Mahoraga's adaptation against him to get to his own Blue faster... And don't talk to me about Sukuna's Heian form. Two extra arms and an extra mouth does not come close to the amount of power he gets from the Ten Shadows technique. Even if it would have let him keep up with Gojo in hand-to-hand, if it hadn't been for Mahoraga, Gojo could have just stayed at a distance and used Limitless. The amount of preparation that Sukuna needed to do to win here - taking Megumi's body for TS, studying up on Gojo's technique - just shows how powerful Gojo is. Both of them are complete powerhouses, and either way this was going to be a high diff fight because they're so closely matched, but honestly even though he lost I think Gojo came out of this one looking better (right up until the end, at least). Gojo in the afterlife saying "I couldn't even make him go all out" is just crazy. It was Gege trying to build hype for the climactic fight, but it's so obviously untrue that IDK what he was even thinking when he wrote that.
