Well, it would come down to how he would know that's the source of his power... but considering Thawne has a "time sense" that can discern anomalies and paradoxes in time as well as their origin... Id say it wouldn't take long.
There's actually QUITE a few Death Battles where one character was a lot faster than the other, but it still wasn't enough to take the win. I would tell you them, but I don't want to spoil anyone's you haven't seen. Just know I can count 10 of them at the very least. And they did that in the animation because.....well, come on, he NEEDED to do that Kabal-style fatality! It would be pretty boring if he just erased them from existence. Style points, baby!

Dbz time travel works in a weird way. Killing someone in past wouldn't affect the future and it will make a new timeline. Like trunks saved goku but his timeline goku was still dead. Just like that killing zamasu in main timeline wouldn't affect zamasu from trunks timeline. Also i actually like goku black most people do and i liked the idead of hating mortals and not the same old goku haters like gero and vegeta. Also the zamasu from main timeline was dead and trunks timeline was also dead. After trunks went to new timeline wish asked the whis of the new timeline to take care of that 3rd zamasu. So there are technically 4 timelines i believe. There can be more timeline if u do some alteration.
