He stares in the distorted sun of the far plane, waiting for a new world to conquer, time not opposing him. He wished he could move but his whimsical structure bounded him to the force of gravity that held him so tight. But one day that changed. A strange silhouette emerged with appendages that rattled with energy and bliss. Two eyes that stared so bright he wanted to run and fight. In a pull of all he had only a mere shiver shook his body as the cried creature took him away.
I like to think Golbo has a psychic ability where anything that hurts it feels intense guilt. Which is how it survives as it is, floppy, soft and devoid of the burden of bones. "Sorry, Golbo."
he reminds me of a blobfish-defomed after being forcefully displaced from its proper environment...i suspect that this is not golbo's true form, but merely a depressurised version of it. what are you hiding from us, golbo?
@@nagisamomoe125 even bigger twist, golbo will become like a flounder fish and the eye on the other side will join the eye on the to us visible side in the future (Of course it would take a lot of effort to get the budget of containing golbo until that happens)
I like how ethical this feels, unlike most of these sorts of organizations in media, where their endless resources is matched by their endless cruelty to what they are studying, this feels like an underfunded research organization genuinely trying to understand the far planes for the sake of understanding
He reminds me of a sponge. No specialized tissues (aside from organ and eye) and immobile unless it starts moving almost imperceptibly slowly and is found a few meters away. He makes me happy
I love how, without intelligent intervention, the only way this thing could come to exist is if the far plane is like mold, growing off of and mocking parallels to our world in a superficial fashion. Like a data leak of reality, even?
The alternative would be that Golbo's native environment is either extremely low-g (maybe some kind of impossible floating water orb, with sargassum or coral analogues that it moves along?) or contains some kind of Far Plane specific energy source that normally fuels its movement.
@dand1253 ooh that's true! It could be a similar situation to the blob fish, where it looks ridiculous outside of its natural environment but under the right pressures the design makes perfect sense. Maybe it was found in a phase of its life cycle where it waits out temporary heavy gravity, and then regrows into something terrifying when the right environment returns.
I think the same for the low G environment Golbo may come from, but for some reason, Golbo cannot be washed, so perhaps it is hydrophobic? If so, maybe there are other liquids that are compatible for Golbo so it isn't squashed by our gravity
My head cannon is Golbo is an acronym name that eventually became its common name like CD or RV or TNT and it'd stand for Gelatinous Oblong Leisurely Benign Oddities.
golbo :) I WILL EXPLODE EARTH IF YOU DARE CUT GOLBO AGAIN >:( (Edit: wow im gettin liked alot... calm down on the likes? theres 307 likes 2:35 WHAT HAPPENED FOR THIS TO BE HERE???)
Summary: Golbo is content in a bathtub filled with grass and other plants. The golbo’s eye must be placed towards the faucet. Please do not pick up a golbo with your hands for long periods of time, use a large tray instead. Also, please do not wash the golbo.
Thr existence of such a well-developed eye implies a necessity for sight. I wonder if the Golbo is constantly peering into some extra-planer spectrum of light. Perhaps it subsists off some multidimensional version of photosynthesis.
I showed this to a friend and they said they’re gunna make a Golbo. I don’t know if they mean out of clay, plastic, cloth or whatever. But Golbo will be real.
I really love this short. It’s got the same type of strangely kind, calming energy to it that “Teddy Has an Operation” does. The surreal tone and creature design also reminds me a lot of the artist Sam Hensley/samsketchbook. I think Golbo and Creamthing would get along wonderfully.
Reminds me of something from a long ago webcomic, Acid Reflux, with a creature called the Melting Panda. If I remember right, they had no bones and oxygen was a narcotic to them, so they just laid there and vibed.
I will happily help fund this organization so we can discover more cute creatures like this for study and hopefully understand them. We deserve to know why these entities from another dimension are so silly.
So this Golbo creature cannot physically move and requires flora to survive? This makes me wonder what the food chain looks like in the far plane, like is this creature literally just food for a predator, or does it exist the way it does because of a lack of predation? Perhaps it has some kind of symbiotic relationship with small creatures that slowly eat parts of it but not enough to kill it?
feels like the far planes are kind of less complex than earth. maybe too friendly an environment, in which most life is producers and not much competition ever had to evolve, or too unfriendly an environment where life moves very slowly, or just plain too young an environment and they're kind of helpless compared to our robust metabolisms.
It reminds me of a sunfish. Those are utterly useless to the point that they even lack nutritional value or good taste, so nothing hunts them. They just hang out floating around all life.
@@Broeckchen They are not useless! They're an essential predator of jellyfish and similar organisms, and the parasites which exist on their body become food for birds! Mankind wishes they could ever vibe as hard as the ocean sunfish.
@@Broeckchen they actually are predated on by sharks, sea lions and killer whales. They are "not very vulnerable" because of their large size and huge, dense skeleton. They are DIFFICULT to eat but they are edible.
you made golbo cry. is that a boot print on its snout?! your cruelty has been observed by forces unseen. (as cute as it is heartbreaking. is the bathtub analogy a nod to how zoos keep cetaceans confined to miserably tiny spaces? "see? it's flourishing here! what? it's not despondent or isolated. don't pay attention to how bummed out it looks" wonderful work! i'm looking forward to more. ... but if you like having fingers, you'd better keep them off of golbo)
Is Golbo like the blobfish where taking it away from its proper environment causes its body to change drastically? Like how the change in pressure from being taken from the bottom of the ocean would kill any creature that lived down there, taking golbo from a different plane of existence has damaged it? Like if gravity or time doesn't exist in the other plane, being suddenly hit with those forces would be unimaginable
I just came from your other video, and I just. I love these so much. Your art style is so warm and really captures the otherworldly feeling while also being warm and fuzzy? I really appreciate how the organization is making sure not to harm the organisms they are studying. Lying down in a bathtub full of grass and flowers seems lovely. Also, I didn’t realize the VA was different from yall- TOTAL props to them, their voice is PERFECT for this, seriously!!!! Thanks again for making these!!!
Tho i absolutely love horror pretending to be non-horror, I also find to be a really good treat the opposite situation, like this for example, be combined with worldbuilding and in the form a documental (that I also really like) just makes it better (Idk if I wrote that right I'm spanish)
Yo, can you show us where golbo is from, like what you did for longlegs? In my head it looks like a grassy marshland with floating faucets coming down from the sky…
I dont know if it’s intentional or just my brain, but he has a dark spot under his eye, and any time i see it i think golbo’s smiling, like it’s some sort of mouth
I wonder if this extra-plane was itself another whole universe at some point. If ours and theirs collided, it's possible that our universe 'shattered' theirs. This is supported by the creature's softer, simpler, and overall less aggressive composition. Simulating them would be difficult as their fundamental laws are alien and lost to us. This would affect their intelligence as well. It could be the functions and higher intelligence of these creatures has been severely compromised.
This is amazing. We need far more silly content. A story can be mysterious AND silly. Not every mystery needs to include vague bible references and excessive amounts of face distortion. Thank you Golbo.
I love the Golbo so much. It's just so cute. The watery eyes especially make it endearing, especially the markings underneath that look like little tear stains. I just wanna pet its cute little snoot and kiss its poor little bandaged psuedoleg.
Absolutely loved this, thoroughly enjoyed it. I want every part of my life to embody the energy of this video. Everything from the animation to the music was fantastic, fit a vibe that I just adore. Like a comfortable, caring dream. I relate to Golbo. You did wonderfully, I hope you and the voice actor are proud of yourselves. Instantly subscribed :] 💙
I highly doubt this research team would immediately make an incision without some sort of safety anesthesia or numbing agent... well maybe they would because they don't seem to have a big budget, but at least they're rather sorry and care.
