Which is better to buy; the Gold Britannia or the Gold Maple Leaf? It does depend on your region but the answer for Americans, might surprise you. Let me know what you think. Thanks for watching!
I stack silver and gold to hedge against our debt-fueled, fiat currency-based economy that I am convinced is in severe trouble. Consider stacking silver and gold yourself to help you build and preserve wealth. And thank you for watching Campbell’s Coins!

The Britannia should win for me. Cheaper, 32mm diameter like the US coins, better security features (CML has plenty), better obverse, no 1099-b trigger, and more elaborate design. The Maple Leaf is magic, though. There’s no other explanation. Cheers!

It’s like you’re reading my thoughts. Logically the Brit is the winner on all accounts but what is up with that Maple leaf magic?! Is it the color? The heft? Maple syrup poured in the gold vat? A combo of all three?! Magic for sure. Thanks man😎👊

The smaller diameter really sets off my OCD, I'd rather buy a buffalo over a maple as it's a similar size to the brit. And yeah the obverse portrait on the maples is awful.

Can't decide, buy both. Both are great looking with security and liquidity. I lean to the Britannia as all of the security features are carried into the fractional. The Britannia will catch on big time and watch premiums increase. Not too worried about liquidity as I have a silver buffer to protect the gold.

I do not own a Brit but would like to. I just bought a 1/4 oz Maple today and the price of the Brit is about $20 more for the same weight. Regardless of my passport, I have no allegence to the stamp on pure beautiful fungible gold. As long as it is a minimum of 3x9s fine and the best value...... I don't care if the Queen is on it, an eagle, or, a horse's ass on it. Gold is gold made by God-we just put the stamp on it.

For an Australian, the Britannia is the smartest choice of all bullion coins from anywhere. Lowest premium, best security, not subject to sales tax (unlike 22 karat coins) and it is foreign currency legal tender (so it can’t be confiscated by the Australian Government). The Maple is a close second and only because it attracts a slightly higher premium. The American coins are too expensive in comparison.

I am new to stacking and right out of the gate as a newbie I have been drawn to the Britannia moreso than any other single coin. Between having the most security features and simply the better overall appearance, the Britannia cannot be beat in my mind. I figure that I'm just ahead of the curve having nothing to compare to at far as previous perspectives. I have a few tubes of the silver Britannia's and my first gold coin was of course a gold Britannia. My least held coin are the A. A. E.'s as I just couldn't justify the crazy premiums. I am having so much fun spending time doing this. It's my new hobby. My only concern with any coin is regarding milk spots and this is where maybe the Maple Leaf has the upper hand. I have a few tubes of them as well in silver, both with the Queen and now the King. Also cannot get enough of the quality from the Scottsdale Mint and have rounds and bars from them.

Try the ring test with a maple leaf. The maple leaf is so thick that the coins could be replicated and seeded with tungsten internally and still pass weight and dimension checks. The ring test of gold coins that pass the weight and dimension tests is absolutely full proof due to the law of physics, but the maple leaf does not ring due to its thickness. I had maple leafs and all they do as thud when you tap them like a symbol on the tip of your finger. Plus the maple leafs scuff so easily just sitting in drawer and shifting around.

I check my gold coins by not only weight and dimensions but also the ring test in which there is a specific pitch of the ring and sustain/or decay of pitch. The Canadian Maple Leaf does not ring. The Maple Leaf is thick and more likely to be counterfeited/seeded with tungsten, again the coin is thick and does not ring where as an Eagle or Krugerrand are not so thick and ring when tapped, this makes these two coins impossible to counterfeit or fool the knowing. Also the Canada Maple Leafs scratch so easily due to their pureness, even shifting around in a cloth drawer creates easily seen scuffing on the maple leafs.

Why was your account demonetized?? Anyway being in Asia, at least in the country where I am, there's not much preference for American coins. Buffalos are high-premium, and I avoid eagles altogether because I have to pay tax on them because they're only 22k. 24k coins here are mostly tax-free. Therefore I very much prefer Britannias and Maples for their design. Heck, I collect a good variety anyway including Kangaroos, and Philharmonics. They're all the same to me - low premium coins.

Maples. The RCM has really stepped up there game in recent years. Since the milk spotting ended on the silver maples, the maple line has only gotten better.

In Canada 22k are taxable! I don't know why, but the 2021 Britannia is more expensive than the Maple. I would love to trade a maple for a Mexican Libertad! or a Kangoo! or a Russian coin or an engle which is taxed in Canada at 5%.

To me, Philharmonics are better, because those can be bought straight from the mint and have the lowest premiums over here in Europe.

I like the Britannia because the lock/trident is the most explicit security feature. 🔥🦈🌊

It's very unique. I'm shocked the US Mint hasn't done more for our coins.

Both are beautiful coins. I think the Britannia may even be more beautiful. But you do not mention sale-ability. Because of the Maple Leaf's popularity it is easy to sell to your LCS which may get you your slightly larger premium back!

I like the Maple, BUT I find that the Britannia is on sale more often... I have found myself buying it and looking over my shoulder at the Maple (sighing, I hope I made the right choice)

I feel ya. The maple is a better coin in terms of strike and the gold looks slightly different. I'm not sure if it's the Brits design but the gold doesn't seem as rich in color compared to the Maple. But cheaper gold is cheaper gold. I'm hoping people come around to the Brit, it's underrated for sure.

Why would you be demonetised for showing a picture of the Queen???? on the reverse.

If buying for investment gold is gold so always buy at the lowest possible premium, if buying from a reputable source what coin you buy does not matter.

Both are great. UK Mint stepped up its game and is producing top-tier bullion. RCM has been doing good things for a while now. It would come down to price and acceptance in your local market in making a decision. Also, I can't underscore enough the importance of good security features. It gives your buyer (who you will sell to down the road) confidence in the bullion. That will lead to a quicker sale at a better sale price for you. The question is now, why would you buy any other soverign bullion? Sure, US Mint products are currently prized in the US, but if gold has a run (a la 2011) I guarantee that there will be many fakes in circulation to shake confidence in the product. UK Mint and RCM have set the bar, and unless I'm getting a great price on a bar or another sovereign, the security value adds are too good to pass up.

Started with bars. Britannia was first gold coin. In order of preference - Brittannia, Buffalo, Maple, AGE, and Kangaroo. No desire for a Krugerrand yet.
