You realize how blessed we were to have lived through the 1980’s with so many great Southern Gospel groups …. Gold City, Cathedrals, Kingsmen, Bishops, Easter’s, Hoppers, Talleys, Imperials, Inspirations, Mid-South, Quinton Mills … the list goes on and on.
That tenor singer is Brian Free of Brian Free and Assurance. I'd recommend giving them a listen. And check out the old video for Robe Of White with Brian on the lead.
I absolutely love this Group I have loved them since the first time I heard them back in the early 1980s they are one of my absolute favorites aside from The Kingsmen
Not the only legend to have been a part of Gold City. For a quarter to be successful you need the best of the best to fill the most important part, which of course as you know Gary - the bass singer. Praying for Tim Riley’s full recovery from his recent strokes.
With a quality bass singer , let’s face it. The other vocalist are quite dispensable. Imperative to have one of the worlds finest keyboardist. Maybe one with a name that rhymes with the other Commenting Gary’s name. Doesn’t even have to be American. Times have changed and I’m trying to remember how to spell PC but I’m thinking of a piano player who is celebrated around many Americans dinner tables every Tuesday. That piano player with the name that rhymes with “Gary Jones” is a true legend himself who has never received the level of accolades he so truly deserves. They had a nickname for him though. What was it? 😝
First time I seen Gold City was in Northeast Texas slightly after this when the lead and baritone were replaced with Ivan Parker and Mike Lefevere. Eith mike or Mark I’m sure was his first name and I may have spelt his last name wrong but it sounds right in my head.
@@kensingtonssI can't be absolutely sure...but I think that the Lead Singer shown here, was Bill Crittenden. Sometime after this video was made, he was replaced by Ivan Parker, who had previously been singing Lead for The Singing Americans.
Brian Free, and Ivan Parker...what a crazy, fun-loving couple of guys! Those two got into more trouble, fun-wise, than you can shake the proverbial stick at!
This is before I discovered Southern Gospel, by about 5 years I never saw this Gold City lineup, I thought Ivan and Mike Lefever were original members, thanks for the piece of history and great singing
@@zzyzx1947 Actually, that's not Ken Trussels standing in between Brian Free and Jerry Ritchie. Ken had departed the group by this time. The guy singing between Brian and Jerry is a gentleman named Bill Crittendon. He sang Lead vocals on this, but was replaced by Ivan Parker in 1983.
