A lovely version of Audrey Mieir's beautiful love song to The Lord. I was her youngest choir member in her last choir. We sang this song at every Audrey service----I stood right next to her and loved watching her "fat little Polish-Irish hands" ( her phrase--not mine ) as she played the piano. She would always thank God for giving this song to her and not someone else! Thanks for posting.
Audrey Mieir was the woman who wrote this song. I was her youngest choir member and often stood next to her when she played the piano at her "Big-Sings". I'll never forget her little chubby (her words) hands on the piano keys and her heart shaped wedding ring. I think she would have really appreciated your lovely rendition of this very special song. The song was inspired by her brother-in-law Luther Mieir during a Christmas sermon.
Does anyone know which actual group of Gold City sang this particular recording of the song? Was it Brian, Ivan, _____ Lefevbre, & Tim? What year? I'd love to see a live video of their singing this beautiful, acappella song.
This song is much better done by simply 4 men and no instruments. I'm old enough (75) to remember gospel sings held in an old tin roof and dirt floor meeting place (formerly a brush arbor) where there were no instruments except a piano that my aunt played and my uncle lead the singing. Sometimes it seemed like those country folks were raising the roof up a few feet. I like most all gospel singing but the modern day groups with the orchestra accompanists are a bit too much for my old timey tastes
