An early rendition from around 1987. Group members include Brian Free, Ivan Parker, Mike LeFevre, and Tim Riley with Garry "Taco" Jones on piano and Jeff Hullender on bass.
One day every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!! What a day that will be when that Eastern sky splits open and we see our Savior in all his glory!!
Ah, my childhood. Southern Gospel may not be considered "mainstream cool", but it holds a very special place in my heart, and I thank God I was raised around it.
I remember many many years ago seeing Ivan Parker and Gold City at a church here getting to see and hear them perform this song in person it was so awesome I will never ever forget it.......
To me, this was the best all round Southern Gospel Quartet to grace the stage in my life time. I went to see them many times during the 80's, and walked away every time feeling blessed and in awe. There were other great singing groups out there, and still is today, but Gold City Quartet touched my heart strings then more than ever.
I love this song. Gold City are great singers. Anything gospel warms my heart. Only music i listen to. I am ready for Jesus to come again. I have this song and listen to it several times a week.
This song makes me want to pray.. that's what gospel songs should do, bring a heart of worship. To feed feelgood emotions is dangerous when we walk by faith and not feelings. I happen to love this song. Brothers and sisters I encourage you all to establish a sincere faith prayer life as best as you can, when this life is over there will be no "do overs"
Arguably the original recording of this song since it was the #1 song on the Southern Gospel charts for 14 months. Any song that is #1 on its' charts for 14 months is special. Many great versions but this is the best.
there is so much going on in this world, I feel the time is almost near, Praise his holy name I am ready to meet him in the air, If we never meet here on earth I will meet you in heaven greeting you with a hug and a smile
This is wonderful. I saw them all the time when I was a teenager. They came to Charelston SC all the time. But I do like the older songs with Ivan and Brian. If anyone has the older songs please post. I dont have my old tapes anymore.
I have 3 cds of these guys. I can truly say I listen to all kinds of Christian music. If it praises God and lifts up Jesus, it's all good. These guys are incredible!
i would love to know who the 56 people are who disliked this because they need a little jesus in there lives! I've loved this song since i was 7 years old when i first heard it
Randy Knaps & Joseph Larson both sing this one beautifully. Joseph's version is on RU-vid I think but I can't find Randy Knaps yet. Michael English's version is good also. Randy is my fav b/c he has so much soul & cajun in his voice. His voice is God given.
Thank You for posting this...I was searching for "Jesus Coming back Soon" songs and this came up...and I recognized the Venue, and the Camera Work (Mine) Yes, I ran camera on this concert in 1987 at Heritage USA
I saw Gold City Live around 1987. It was before they released this song. I think was their greatest line up of singers. Brian Free has always been one of my favorite Tenors. He sang the Squire Parson song "Greatest Of All Miracles" that night, and I've never heard it sung better. Thanks for posting this video.
I love this song! I'm singing it for church this morning! It's nice to have the soundtrack with all the guys singing behind me and me taking Ivan's place! lol One of my all time favorite songs sung by an amazing line up!
I know you are right. I have a deep singing voice but I can't get as low as Tim does. That voice is sure a blessing to this type of music. Keep on singing Tim.
When I was just a young girl ( under the age of 5 ) I really thought that the man who sang the highest was a woman singing! It was only when I finally saw them in concert I found out it was an all-man group.
“Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then He will send His angels, and gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest part of earth to the farthest part of heaven.” Mark 13:26-27 The world will see the Son coming in the clouds with great power and glory. (Mark 13:26-27) His Second Coming will begin when angels gather the dead in Christ. (Mat. 24:30-31, 1 Thes. 4:14-16) Then, in a moment, they will catch up alive believers on earth. (1 Thes. 4:17) His bride will be taken before the throne of God in heaven. (Rev. 7:9-17; 21:9-10) (Chart: Second Coming)
I remember a joint G.C. and Kingsmen Qt performance in Anniston about that time. The Kingsmen's bus broke down so G.C. did another set so the fans would get a full show. They were gracious and there for ministry. After the show, they stayed for over an hour to sign autographs, shook hands and talked SGM with everyone. As I recall, they offered a 4-tape special for $5. Our staff at my computer store wore those tapes out, and we all enjoyed singing with the best gospel quartet each day.
