Good show, Pete. I wonder if shredding the plastic before the AR treatment to dissolve the gold would help increase the volume of material you can process in the beaker? You could filter it all before dropping the gold. Excessive volume of rinse water can be concentrated before combining with the gold laden AR solution. I like your idea about combining the rinsed plastic with your paper filters for future PM recovery.

Good job Pete. Good technique and easy to follow. I keep those ribbons also. I just chuck them in my AP with my pins. I bet the majority of your gold came from the HDD pads. I say that because the ribbons are usually super “light gold” almost bluish in color whilst the pads are a deep rich gold color. Thoughts?

Great information! I've been keeping all of that as I've been scrapping just in case. Looks like I guessed right to hold on to them. Would boiling in hydrochloric acid first help to give a cleaner solution when going to aqua regia? Thanks again for the education!
