@@haewien 1999, they came out to the showrooms mid 1998 for customers, but was available for motorcycle journalists before that. With that said, I think you're right about the videos age tho 👍
I owne a ZZR 1100 (1998) we are still 21 years together. The old Lady have allways the power as in younger years. :-) Not much modern Bikes will be so fast from 0-100 like this beautifull bike. Only thing's I change is the original windshild to an MRA spoiler shild. And the seat to a seat of top saddlery.
This is by the mide to late 1990's 'old school' Fastbikes Magazine UK.Ltd moto-journalist crew, from their limited VHS releases. some of them became quite famous as well as infamous and also top class racers, such as Rob Frost, Shane Byrne, Jamie Robinson, and The Count Schiller. At one time, amongst the fastest of the international motocycle magazine sets test rider journo's, full of cunning stunts, tomfoolery and lucky escapes from certain death.
I lived in the UK when these guys were current! I had a Honda Blackbird my friends had a ZZR 1100 and Busa. I was at the NEC in Birmingham UK when they launched that TURD brown / gold / shit coloured whatever Busa . And I told the Suzuki people on the stand that. The Busa had 200cc more then the Bird , but the Bird was better built and didn't have cam chain tensioner issues ( in the day I never knew of a Busa that didn't blow up and needed an engine rebuild) FACT ,and they had sub frame issues cracking when people tryed to put luggage on them. Honda could beat ANYBODY if they wanted give the Bird more power / CC s. Tragic they stopped building the Bird and Suz Suckie is still build the Turd.
It was called Mach2 , but the one year later, they released Mach3 .... replacing the zzr11 with the zx12 , and didn’t even take the R1 , my beloved BB was “dog slow” to the Busa, let alone the ZX12 That left the Busa for dead ....
Seeing this circa 2001, those stand-up wheelies on the R1 sealed the deal on me getting sportbike fever. Bought a 600cc yamaha that could wheelie, but I was too scared to really go for it.
Never been a wheelie fan myself, I'd rather take a series of fast sweepers or brake hard in and accelerate hard out of a tighter corner... but to each their own. I've owned an R1 and enjoyed it, but really like my Bandit 1250 for an everydayer. The CBR600F4i was probably my most fun and practical sportsbike though - lots of revs to play with, plenty of power and comfortable and civil enough to ride anywhere anytime.
LOved my 97 had it heavily modded with a 2012 entire Busa front end. After owning 11 years moved to a ZX14 and now this week selling it and have bought a mint 96 ZX1100 to take advantage of collector plate insurance in 2021 and just not riding as much as I did so figured score the ZX11 real cheap and sock cash away:)
Post 2001 birds are good bikes. Cheap as £1500, reliable and now old enough for classic insurance. Went to digital dash in 01 and FI after 99 i believe. I have one with 90k miles and still going strong.
That was a vídeo from an English magazine called Fast Bikes , they did serious videos and serious jornalism, seriously missed, never since has anyone done anything like they did, they pioneered, and paved the Way to Evereste motocycle journalist, one Shane Byrne, ex London courrier, made “ journalist” and later profissional racer for Aprilia
Oh man, those were the days… :-). I used to have two Kawa's ZX11 (ZZ-R1100). What fun we had racing eachother on the German and French highways! In them days there were hardly policeradars to stop us… :-).
Awesome Movie..love the "oldschoool" style and the the storytellers voice.... These guys has skill especilly the guy with the powerslides...as he said almost like 500cc GP riders...
Well done my!
I remember when I got my 97 in 97 and I was riding around and went up to Rockford Illinois and some guy in a ZX-11 wanted to race me man I beat that guy so bad he probably had I'd say probably at least 50 yards ahead of them at the end just pounded him I was happy
I just bought a Blackbird and I love it. I'm sure I would love the 'Busa too, I'm just a Honda guy I guess. As far as the speed and rwhp of course the Suzuki will win that. After all, it does have over 160cc more displacement and two more years of development over the CBR. Just as the ZX14R is faster than the 1300cc 'Busa. Now if the 'Busa was 1000cc, came out before the CBR, and had more hp and speed, then I would be more impressed with it and a bit dissapointed with the Honda. That's like saying my buddy's gixxer 750 is faster than his buddy's gixxer 600. Well duh. I like a 'Busa, but for now I'm pretty happy with my Honda and excited to put some miles on it.
yng4evr68 When your talking just a few % here and there on performance difference that most mere mortals can tell very little difference. For more there is more to it than just outright top speed bragging rights. I think the BB is simply a much classier looking bike that the Busa.. build quality is far superior too. That's why I am more than happy with my CBR1100XX Superblackbird. A future classic, no doubt.
I've only got a 100 miles on mine so far in the past 5 days of ownership due to weather and lack of car seat (yep 48 with a 4 year old) but I agree completely. A really nice ride and insane power.
It's the HP not the CC's that make the difference.A FJ1200 puts out much less HP than a ZZR1100 & that 1100cc Kwaka will destroy a 1200cc Yamaha. Just sayin!
der Ha11 6 months later and I've still got the ZZR ! I still keep looking at ZX12Rs, there's a really nice green one on ebay right now. Today, I'm sorting out a misfire, so carbs back on and test. Fingers crossed, looking forward to an essential journey to test it.
I'm sure you guys can figure out which one I own and have owned since 1997 but I'll tell you what I sure would like to try riding one of those moose's which was always the king I don't know if they're cr14 is faster now or not I have been keeping up cuz I'm in a lot of older before I used to know all the stats and how fast Beach Pike went from a 750 on up to 1,000 to 1100 to the foosa and the kz900 all those bikes been a lot of fun in my life and I'm still alive that's the wild part
They say you can't ride a Busa like this, thats because you can ride a motorcycle like a Busa...it takes a true born rider to be able to man handle a Busa its a love respect thing with her, she doesn't play well with others that don't know her. You dont pic a Hayabusa, it pics you👊🏾👊🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥
I had a new blackie in 1998. I seen 190mph 4 times down the M5. Once I was in the red in 6th. Still going. But I switched off because I was the end of the lit motorway.
