IN THIS VIDEO I SHOW HOW I PREFER TO PROCESS GOLD FINGERS . ITS NOT A QUICK WAY BUT MUCH EASIER , ESPECIALLY ONCE DEALING WITH ACIDS THIS VIDEO WAS MADE BY EWASTE RECYCLER #ewaste recycler #ewasterecycler
Now I'm going to have to find the gold I got when I did this with a very cheap iron. Would not recommend the cheapest you can find. It just doesn't get hot enough and it gets too hot in your hand for more than a short time. It's great for those of us who don't want to deal with the chemical mess. The phone notification during the video made me look at my phone 🤣 Keep up the videos. Been watching for a long time now 😉
Glad I could help! i know the thought of using chemicals can be scary but if youre sensible with them and take care , you wont have a problem. alot of people choose to only make money by selling their ewaste because of the chemicals but i can assure you that you will make so much more by processing everything yourself . and its so much fun , i really enjoy it . it fascinates me how one metal will go into solution while it pushes other metals out.
Another great video. I'm going to start doing my fingers like you. I'm sure it saves on the back. Like always, I turned something new. Hope you have a wonderful day. Keep up the great work
So far this is the best way. Yeah it uses electricity and your personal effort, but its definitely faster. And its great if you have a hard time finding scraps. If you store the foils for later, you could save allot of foils in a small container.
I was watching e waste ben video "Gold button from Ram stick fingers" Have a look at 9:20 where his melted gold is tested it shows that there is 3.45% gold in RAM fingers. On the screen it says plus or minus 0.17% so results may vary. I did some maths using his results and one kg of RAM sticks would yield 0.41 grams of gold and if you wanted one troy once of gold you would need 4995 RAM sticks. I tried using the soldering iron but my hand started to hurt so I used tin snips to cut the fingers off and then dumping them into HCL without using peroxide as it is expensive. Using a fish tank bubbler it takes 5-7 days for all the finger to come off. I would never go back to using a soldering iron. I do have lots of fingers from using the soldering iron and doing a separate experiment to see if the 3.45% is really accurate in e waste ben video.
@@prospectorpete He used a soldering iron to get the fingers off and got a small electric furnace to melt all the fingers so he could take it to a gold buyer to see how much gold was in there. Just watch the video and you will see it being tested. As far as I know he never took it any further to refine that button. I think he will never refine any of his gold scrap.
@@prospectorpete Oct 10, 2016 You don't have to watch the video just look in the description for the gold content. So if you use an acid to remove fingers it has to dissolve nickel as well as copper.
Great video. Definitely takes a lot of fingers to get less than 1 gram of gold. I like the soldering iron idea for removing the foils and will have to see about picking one up. Would it help to do a hydrochloric boil after removing the foils to get rid of the solder before going to the nitric boils? Looking forward to your next video!
Yes, you can do that however I thought there was silver in the solder. I know now and will be using HCL from now on. thank you for question and glad you got some good pointers from video nice to hear that you found something that you can take away from video and apply it to make your refining easier. Thank you for your support and watching.
no not from fingers, I've tried doing electroplating on circuit boards and the electricity needs to travel through the board. while it might work for a little while it ends up just burning the contact point on the board. any attempts that I've had have never worked, thank you so much for asking the question I appreciated questions and comments are always appreciated.
yeah i think i said that in the video . i do normally get the gold instead of cutting them off . but i had intended to do them in a different way which required trimming them . but then i thought , no ill do it the way i prefer. thanks for watching
you can always try a different method if that's what you are referring too but, in my experience, it is the best way to do it. and at the end of the day any Gold is good Gold. This is a classic e.g. that it takes a lot of e-waste to get decent amounts of gold. People often look at a pile of shiny gold fingers and think gee there is a lot of gold there. They often don't realize just how much it really takes. thanks for watching and support.
