I'm working on a playthrough of Super Metroid Eris, and found an amusing little hole in Gold Torizo's AI. If you stand next to the entrance, then GT won't try to stick in melee range, instead jumping away to use various trivially-dodged attacks (i.e. not the energy waves). Worst case, just jump straight up, start spinning, and then walljump until the attacks clear out. You're in absolutely no danger of falling into the lava pits scattered about the room this way.
