The same man who cried workers rights and then took a big pay day at the Qatar World Cup and then laughed about it when presenting Have I Got News For You. He’s an absolute clown!
The PGMOL should be sued! These errors are not simply “honest” mistakes. They are negligent systemic issues coupled with total resistance to accountability.
Spot on. People think it’s all a big deliberate conspiracy. It’s not. It’s just so many astounding layers of pure incompetence and negligence that has created a complete monster.
It's corruption. I can't believe how brazen it is. Do they think fans are so stupid that we don't realise that with video replays they have no excuse for getting the obvious decisions correct, and that we won't deduce that they must be getting backhanders if they fail in this most simple task? It couldn't be more obvious that there is blatant corruption happening.
How can "honest" mistakes even be an excuse. One, maybe. Several, no! Disregarding intent altogether, those referees are then not competent enough to be in the PL and need instant removing.
It's obvious these pundits are controlled, as they are all singing the same tune. When you think of all the terrible decisions, aided by VAR, this season it beggars belief.
Surely Man city owners paying premier league referees to work in the middle East is a conflict of interest and should be looked at! Even if it's not corrupt it doesn't look good. Especially considering Michael Olivers performances this season,
Exactly. You only have to see the thread which (needs to be updated after the Grealish incident) which listed the controversies the UAE league refs had been involved in.
He's controlling the narrative. Say what you will about Bruno Fernandes, but the guy actually convinced people he wanted to get off the pitch against Liverpool.....and it was after his and his mates scathing comments people started scapegoating the man at Utd.
Does anyone really think the most wealthy league in the world wouldn't be vulnerable to straight up corruption? In any other line of work, a decision-maker would not be allowed to have a conflict of interest relationship with someone they're supposed to be regulating (i.e. Michael Oliver and the UAE)
LFC fan here, stand with Forest. Good to see another club make a statement rather than just accept it. Neville was on ‘LFC’s side’ after the Spurs debacle.. until we dared put out a statement so his reaction to this isn’t a shock. Football pundits are more worried about losing jobs and money, pathetic really. Fair play to Goldbridge for continuing to be an exception.
Listening to Jermaine Jenas telling me the Grealish handball wasn’t handball was the nail in the coffin for mainstream punditry for me. It was like listening to someone telling me black was white!!!
Mark we as a community and fans need to get our voices heard over these crap journalists. The var and refereeing this weekend has been absolutely disgraceful. It needs to go
VAR is basically like legal match fixing. They've created a way to match fix technically legally. It's as if their trying to control the league in terms of keeping it close at all parts of the table, fighting for the title or europe or relegation battles to keep it exciting right until the last game so in turn more people watch more games. Viewing figures = money. I don't know but there's definitely something dodgy going on.
You're right on the money! Match fixing for artificial excitement is also the only reason i could think of. All these inconsistent decisions cannot be called accidental anymore.
Look at the pair of the them carra and Neville absolutely slated the officials for the Diaz v spurs not even 24 hrs latter the changed there tune official pressure
Can’t stand either of them. Both say anything to protect their jobs. It’s so clear that the PGMOL/Premier League have mentioned something to media - Sky in particular - to not highlight appalling refereeing. Probably under the guise of anti bullying or something. Last season and at the start of this season, the pundits all throughout the media - particularly Sky - were slamming the refereeing. Then suddenly they started changing their opinions from anger to apathy. Disgusting.
As a Liverpool fan I want Everton to stay up but I am against corruption and forrest were robbed and for Gary and Jamie to say the refs are in not in the wrong or blameless that speaks volumes.
This is the issue. City and the top 6 were able to build their squads for years, then pull the rug up with FFP if anyone tries to invest in their own clubs
@@lordvadertheleftie9703 lets start from United and how they were spending as much as they want and breaking transfer records while everyone else couldn't 🤷🏻♂
Stuart Attwell awarded Reading the infamous ghost goal against, Watford. Who are Watfords rivals? Luton Town. And suddenly when Luton Town are in a relegation battle, 3 clear and obvious errors are blatantly ignored against their biggest relegation rivals. And I’m supposed to believe that it’s simply a coincidence and an accident? That’s twice (as far as I know) that Stuart has made a decision that benefits Luton or is at the very least against their rivals, and while that may not seem like a lot, for someone that is a Luton fan, it shows clear and obvious bias.
Solution: 1) separate the referees from the VAR officials 2) SIGNIFICANTLY raise referee salaries. Tripling them would be a good start to attract more and higher quality individuals. 3) Add a second on field assistant referee for more perspectives 4) improve the turnaround on decisions to
the coventry disallowed goal is not so cut and dry Mark.. the lines are clearly drawn wrong, when you zoom in you can clearly see the ''Defender line'' goes over Wanbisaka's foot, aka it's not actually at the tip of his foot and it's hard to see where his foot ends because of the lines, furthermore the image is not stopped when the ball leaves the passing players foot, it's stopped slightly before first contact, so he might or might not actually be offside, but one things is sure the image used is not evidence for either.
Mark and all the united stand panel have said it was offside but they would said that wouldn’t they! They have no idea by how much it was offside, how my millimetres, Mark Robbins said it was a toenail. If that was offside and not level then I give up on football
If youre telling me fully fledged international players cant see a 3-0 lead out without two 19 years olds?? Thats not a eth problem thats a player problem
52:45 To bolster Marks point even further, it's not like the relegation battle is close due to the quality of Luton, it's only really close because of point deductions. It probably wouldn't have even been that entertaining throughout the season if Forest and Everton weren't deducted points.
Mark, I’m an Everton fan and even I am in total support of what Forest are doing. All the pundits are just sheep following Neville and Carragher (who are a disgrace). VAR should be called out, I too question their integrity. How could those pens against us but be given?
Mark Liverpool fan here ur prob the best one of these football talk shows say it the way it is even if it's against ur own team a lot of other channels should take a leaf out of ur book mate
His authenticity goes out the window when it comes to City unfortunately..the conspiracy theories aren't consistent from the Liverpool fans anymore, they charge City but suddenly are bribed by them, Everton actually found guilty twice, suddenly they want to rig a game for them. The same Liverpool robbed Forest earlier this year but they're suddenly supporting them. People will genuinely listen more if everyone don't make it all about some top 6 rivalry with City obsession when all top 6 spend the most and get the most decisions
Talksport/Sky/PL/PGMOL as a collective, they have their overall agenda. Short of boycotting matches and ending subscriptions, there is nothing we can do about it.
Consider the types of businesses and investors the clubs, the FA & the UK establishment in general are involved with & ask your questions with that in mind. Everyone ignoring the elephant in the living room.
There is so much money involved in the premier league that it's naive to think there isn't corruption in some form in the premier league. At the end of the day the premier league is a brand and is now all about the show rather than fairness and consistency.
There should actually be protests out side of the big games saying VAR OUUUUUTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!! We should stand up for our game fight back against this dictatorship WHOS WITH ME!!
Between pundits and pgmol I'm done, fans need to come.together, enough is enough, their gaslighted us into accepting atrocious or corrupt refereeing. Fans unite this isn't about 1 club, it's every club.
All fine the Prem League punishing Forest for their mistakes and deducting points, then Forest should be able to complain when it feels unjustly treated.
If the VAR would have forgotten to draw the lines for Coventry like they did in the Arsenal game.. literally no one would have complained. THAT would be an appropriate use of VAR 😂
We as fans have a fundamental misunderstand of what VAR is intended to do. As fans we think it should drive consistency and accuracy but that is clearly not the case. It is solely there to protect the referees. I’ve read/listen many of the articles by experts that explain all the var decisions (mainly because they are laughably amusing) and in them they all clearly give away what is happening. The driving force of VAR is “clear and obvious error.” This is solely there to give PGMOL and VAR enough wiggle room to back the on field decision even if incorrect. Until the that provision is removed, nothing will change. And here’s a novel idea, have the referees explain their decisions post match. At least it will give accountability.
In the United States, our leagues say that Replay has to prove something beyond a reasonable doubt. So if a goal is scored on the field they need the replay to be so obviously offsides that it will be called offsides. If the offsides looks iffy in replay, they can’t take off a goal because they still have a reasonable doubt. In this instance, Manchester United would have lost their game in the FA Cup the other day
It must be frustrating for Mark that no matter what he throws at Neville, he never gets a response. I do like that about Gary. It's almost impossible to manipulate him, and he clearly doesn't care about TUS or Mark's popularity.
Does this happen in rugby? Absolutely not. Also if you’re talking about respect for officials, rugby players call every referee Sir. Take a leaf PGMOL if you want respect
I can’t believe a thorough investigation was not conducted top To bottom after a pro ref came out saying he jeopardized decisions and ruined the integrity of the game to protect his mates. That says it all about the shambles of the referees we have.
If you need to understand what's wrong, just look at the raw facts. Three terrible decisions go against Forest. Forest complain. Carragher and Neville, speaking for SKY and the punditry as a whole immediately the identify the problem as being that Forest complained. This must be stamped out they said, and they weren't talking about the nonsense way VAR is being appiled, they were talking about the clubs trying to defend themselves. I'm also reminded of last year when Andy Robertson got into trouble for (checks notes) being assaulted by the linesman...
mark with the city point ur failing to point out that in the reverse city liverpool fixture at the etihad where it was clearly not a foul on alisson yet the goal was given city don’t beat liverpool i don’t think it’s fair to just accuse them of it when it’s clearly a league wide problem (just to clarify im not a city fan)
Completely agree with the refs egos - why are on-field refs saying 'no no no' with absolute certainty? They should be humble enough to say - 'I don't there's contact' or 'I he gets the ball'. In rugby, refs are so much better! Can you imagine Michael Oliver saying to VAR: 'Can you just check he gets the ball'? I certainly can't...
VAR has to go. Almost nobody likes it, It spoils the flow of the game. The match grinds to a halt up to 5 minutes or more. It ruins celebrations. Very often it gets it wrong. And there appears to be some bias in the decisions made sometimes, like in the Forest/Everton game. I think VAR is ruining football.
VAR is not the problem any more than referring is a problem. The problem is the quality of the officiating and the people who adjudicate the events. If not for VAR we would not see these errors and they will get swept under the carpet, if anything, VAR is evidencing how poor our officials are. How many errors can you guys remember from the World Cup or the Champions League?
Thoughts on going back on your comment a couple days ago with “be careful what you wish for” as Moyes has had a masterclass against palace, with a staggering 3-6-6 record in 2024 I think we have a higher ceiling than that with better recruitment and a new manager
It’s ridiculous that the media are not backing Forest at all. Stating that there is a concern about a fan being an official shouldn’t even be a controversial statement, monitoring that with officials should be the bare minimum !
Crazy that players get banned for betting irrespective of what they bet on, however Mike dean can publicly admit he didn’t give a decision cause of the impact it’d have on his mate. Why hasn’t that been investigated!? when it impacts a game and shows his lack of integrity! So rather than banning him and black listing him, sky reward him with a slot on their soccer Saturday & expect us to value his opinion when he’s shown he’s going to back his mates rather than make correct decisions 🤯🤣
Sorry about the lengthy comment but the topic justifies that, I hope! I think Graeme Souness summed it up perfectly on Talksport yesterday....VAR is embarrassing referees. It is embarrassing referees because of the confusing and arbitrary application of the protocols and procedures, which are being implemented inconsistently. VAR, currently, is the genie partially out of the bottle because referees are being unnecessarily restricted by the arbitrary and confusing protocols and procedures. We have essentially two simultaneous alternative realities.. ....one is the instant video replays shown to millions of viewers, the other is the slow-motion reviews and deliberations of the VAR officials in the room, frequently coming up with a different version of reality. That process is distorting and perverting the reality perceived by millions, which has frequently brought the process into disrepute. Apart from that problem, there is also a lack of transparency, the arbitrary and contradictory implementation of the protocols and procedures, and, in some cases, incompetence by the officials. VAR is not the problem, it is the poor, arbitrary and inconsistent implementation that is the problem. Let the VAR genie totally out of the bottle and uninhibited, as in rugby union, and review, refine and simplify the procedures and protocols. For example, the VAR officials should only decide on factual matters, like offsides. They should not decide on subjective issues. All errors leading to potentially game changing events should be flagged, not just clear and obvious errors, and all interventions should require the referee to go to the screen to make the final decision. Subjective issues should not be decided by the VAR officials. The problem is not with the VAR system, but with its inconsistent and arbitrary implementation, so I don't buy the conspiracy theories and lack of integrity. The whole process requires a drastic overhaul, and procedures and protocols need to be simplified, particularly the instructions regarding handball, which are confusing and inconsistent, exemplified by the two different, bizarre and unacceptable decisions in the FA cup semi-finals last weekend! The handball guidance could be simplified to: - a) Arms away from the body, irrespective of a natural position or not, and irrespective of the distance the ball has travelled = a penalty. i) EXCEPT - When the ball makes contact with a part of the body and then strikes the arm. ii) EXCEPT - When a players falls to the ground and placing their hands in order to break their fall and protect themselves from injury. Understandably, the issue and interpretation of natural position has caused the greatest confusion and controversy. Probably professional footballers are best placed to determine that issue, but there is probably no reliable consensus, even amongst the professionals, so that element needs to be totally abandoned as far as the handball rules are concerned.
I very much liked your solution to VAR Mark, no association and no familiarity stops this crap as they wont be looking to back their pals and instead just work together to get things right
city handball at fa cup was a joke, the liverpool hanball v tottenham was a joke, nottingham forest should not be slated for being outspoken based on yesterdays mess either specially nevville and carragher they are the ones that are out of order! these fouls are being personally chosen by var it should be left to AI to make decisions cause personal influence in var is causing the suspecious decisions
