A great period for them, the Naked Truth albums were a great success and ensured that they could also give acoustic concerts in theatres from 1992 until the end.
Only 1 decent album with new material (Face It) and a cover album.
Gone were the years when they had to come out with a new album almost every year, they had worked their way out of debt and no longer had to prove themselves.
They did what they felt like, and could draw on their gigantic oeuvre during concerts.
Still 6 new non-studio album tracks, here they come!
1 I Can't Sleep Without You (A-side CD single) 1992 0:00
A smooth song, not too difficult to listen to and has a high sing-along level.
2 The Naked Truth (Only on the live album "The Naked Truth") 1992 3:28
Acoustically, doesn't really stick. Misses that melancholic atmosphere that they had in the seventies with these kinds of songs.
3 So You Want To Be A Rock 'N' Roll Star / L.A. Woman (Bonus track of the CD-single This Wheel's On Fire) 1995 7:46
Smart to cover not too well-known songs from the 60s. Even if you don't know the originals, you immediately hear that it is a cover. This is one of the Byrds. A lot of bands do such a cover album, the Earring fits it well, Rush also did something like that that didn't sound and come across to me.
4 Try A Little Tenderness (Bonus track of the CD-single Gotta See Jane) 1996 12:01
It's cover time again, this time a song that was already recorded in 1932 by some orchestra.
Very theatrical and bombastic and very beautiful! Sung by George.
5 Burning Stuntman (A-side CD single) 1997 15:57
Had everything to be a big hit, recognizable and easy to remember. Sing-along and much attention have been paid to production and execution. Also has a very good and expensive music video. It only became a minor hit in the Netherlands.
6 Mood Indigo (B-side CD single The Devil Made Me Do It (Acoustic Version)) 1998 20:01
Heavy on with an orchestra and clearly a sitar (or something like that) throughout the song. Should have been the A-side in my opinion.
Was already a single by singer Anouk in 1996, was not a hit then.
Written especially for her by George and Barry, Anouk became world-famous in the Netherlands shortly afterwards with big hits.
