A bass guitar solo to introduce the song? Amazing. Golden Earring was great. Vastly under-rated. Can't say enough. Takes me back to '73 -74 in Chicago when I first heard Radar Love on WLS-AM Chicago at tender age of 21. This song is most definitely in my Top 10 singles of all time. Proud to have a little Dutch in me.
They quit the show in 2021 after founding member George Kooymans had been diagnosed with ALS, a fatal type of motor neuron disease. At that time the members were 72 to 74 years old and played for 60years as a band. The other 3 members inmediately decided to split up as a band because of this terrible disease of George. “if one falls down than we all fall down”. Now that is a kind of ultimate loyal brotherhood. As a band, they knew how to rock. Absolute class live act.
Every band coming up needs to watch this. Plus many numerous other performances by these guys.!!!! LEARN something!!! Crazy , crazy talent Un fucking believeable !!! Yaaahoooo
HOLY effing $$$!ttt... Radar Love it one of the best songs ever recorded.... It is amazing to see the energy live.... I miss the 70s/80s.... when you could actually pay and see a REAL band perform at this level!
these guys have so much friggin fun when on stage, i think they're the best band who ever does live performances, they shine when on stage, its fun to watch them go from young skinny dudes to old grey haired men. but they just get better with age, sad ill never get to see them in person,
Sharing their passion for the music with the audience, having fun while doing it. Jamming while playing. Got to respect these golden moments, for the band members who stayed together all these years. Enjoy their sets, folks. These guys are playing their hearts out, for when they're gone , they're gone.
Can't believe how young this sounds. I'm 70 and remember these guys from the 70s. Am I going to see the drummer jump over his drum set in a flash of light and smoke? haha. Fantastic band. I remember seeing them in Pittsburgh in .....ha, memory ain't that good.
Golden Earring celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2011 and have been performing almost continuously since their foundation in 1961. They have had the same unchanged line-up of the same four musicians and friends since 1970, augmented time to time with a fifth member (Dutch keyboardist and leader of legendary band Supersister, Robert Jan Stips). And for a band known to many for one of the all-time classic rock tracks - Radar Love - they are a group that has built up a solid & very varied body of work that will interest beyond the typical rock n roller.
And they have for a few years Eelco Gelling as an extra gitarist. He came from Cuby and the Blizzards, that was an famous blues band, you can hear him on Mad love is coming.Great band and i am sorry that George is very ill.
This is totally amazing, I saw these guys in 1978. I would have killed to hear this version back than. Is it even possible to still kick ass like this 30 years later?? Great post thanks. God bless GE.
Yep... musicians get better with age, and the mind is as energetic as ever - at least when playing music. Why not? Only the drummer has to worry much because the drums are more physically demanding... But a bass? Bass players just make their fingers dance - how tiring is that?
I saw Golden earring at The Glasgow Apollo 1974 and they played Radar Love and Ceaser Zuiderwisk jumped over his drum kit at the end of that song and almost fell off the stage as the apollo had a very high stage , the apollo is now gone . Golden Earring have never played any British concerts in a very very long time. 42 years i would like to see play again
To see all of the different ages in the audience speaks volumes of great rock and roll.....freaking timeless...uber epic drum solo and performance...old guys ROCK!!!!!!!
I seen these guys in the 70 twice but we didn't have grey hair and we weren't fat bastards like today but this is almost as good as back in the day....Thanks for posting
6:13 The most recognizable intro to a rock song - I get that aticipatory rush and onslaught of adrenaline! I can't believe that these guys can still go after it like they did back in the day! Must be good living. Thanks for posting
Absolutely best performance Intro of this Song, i truly love it, perfect, excellent & Great... my all time favorite since i hear that.. Thanks soooo much for upload, GREAT
I always listen to their music but was afraid to go look at more recent things as with all older rock bands you wonder if they can still do it I've seen all kinds of bands and they outdid every one of them that was amazing
Another 20 min.(+) version of this classic song. 1975, US tour, 2005 dutch show and last but not least 2019, also somewhere in the Netherlands. Now it`s your turn to choose which ones the best.
Absolutely greatest version i ever listened to.... awesome Bass , Keyboard & drum intro ... best ever... thanks alot for upload i really enjoyed so much to listen, great performance
Whatttt . . . didn't see THAT coming 🔥💀🔥 Apparently they did not come to fuck around. Fresh inventive dramatic über-extended rearrangement . . and not one dull moment. Riveting. Aging takes no prisoners, but they fought with such relentless ferocity sometimes you thought they might just win. Mad respect 💪 RIP Golden Mthrfking Earring 1961-2021
Golden Earring ist eine der wenigen Gruppen die Überlebt hat. Hoffe das ich 59 noch einmal die Gelegenheit habe sie live zu sehen? Danke für die gute Musik. eddy8156
That's Frank Carillo, who joins in on a few songs as a second guitarist. He is not a member of the band, but is part of George Kooymans side project "Kooymans/Carillo" and a good friend of the band. He also did guitar work on GE latest cd "Tits N Ass" last year. Mainly slide guitar. Frank is actually from the USA and has a long career in rock history himself. And yeah, he is follicle challenged.. but still rocks and a cool dude.
