The lyrics and the overall theme based on the Bourne Identity. Just the best writing, etc This drummer has been sadly overlooked. Check out his playing years earlier on Radar Love
Love Golden Earring, they've been together for 59 years until George Kooymans got sick with ALS. They're one of the most underrated rock bands of all time. Twilight zone is on my top 10 greatest rock songs list of all time,. 🙏 for George Kooymans
Easily one of the best live acts ever. Their post 1960s hit singles are flawless. A mix of raw rock with just enough pop injected so they records would chart. They're an institution in their native Holland. They even have a museum there. The first time I saw them live was in a line with Deep Purple. Ian & company sounded dull coming on after Golden Earring. Their stage act was unique and gutsy. They had no personnel changes for 51 years apart from occasional guest musicians. Sadly, they disbanded in 2021, shortly after George was forced to retire due to ALS. His voice on Twilight Zone will remain forever. Golden Earring is what rock n roll was meant to be.
@@roelvisser100 …..Moontan has been a personal favourite since its release but I also love Golden Earring’s “To The Hilt” album. The band deserved far wider acclaim, GE was every bit as good as their contemporaries, (the better-known), now “Classic Rock” bands. I still have 4 or 5 original GE vinyls, I thought they were a fabulous band!
In my twenties, I spent most of the time and money I could do freely on Western music. For me, this song is the best, No.1Song. In fact, until now, I only know them with my ears, and have recently searched here. The sound of this video is as close as possible to the real thing, I thought, "These young people are a very good copy band !!" Indeed, they are the young Golden Earring !!!!! I repeated 50 times. Maybe many times in the future. Thank you for putting it on. While driving alone in the United States with a rental car, when I was hesitant on my way hotel, I was confused but suddenly this song that I love from the car radio, I regained me, "Oh, God ..." I grateful, that was 21 years ago.
I seen this great band at the Medford Armory In Southern Oregon around 1972 give or take a few years. This small armory did not hold very many people (maybe couple thousand) They were the opening band for Montrose I think. I don't actually recall it's been so long. What I do know is I was standing about 15 feet from the stage right in the middle of the floor (there was no seating) These guys totally blew me away. Absolutely incredible. The next day I went to store and found thier Moontan album (no digital downloads at that time) What a great album. Songs like "Are you receiving me" and The Vanilla Queen are so good. I have been listening to that album again after not listening for a while 🖖
Fun fact..When the Bullet Hits the Bone was the original name of the song..Their record company urged them to change the songs name because of bad connotations of bullet/ bone.. And here we have TWILIGHT ZONE , one of the best hard driving songs produced..They may be retired BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN!!!
@@tonyelberg7814 …..with respect, Golden Earring were infinitely more than “not bad”. When the band enjoyed exposure with “Radar Love” in 1973, I bought their “Moontan” album. I grew up with all the ‘60’s and ‘70’s Classic Rock bands and to this day, Moontan remains one of my favourite (ever) Rock albums. In my experience, the real gems are on the albums and this is especially true of GE’s music. If you’re interested in exploring the band further, I highly recommend the “Moontan” album, I think you’ll be very pleasantly surprised.
@@tonyelberg7814 …..please do, terrific band. “Moontan” is Progressive Rock really, in that it has a theme running through it. My favourite track is titled “The Vanilla Queen” but the whole album is excellent with other great tracks like “Are You Receiving Me?”, “Candy’s Going Bad” and of course, “Radar Love”. While RL is a finely-crafted song, unfortunately, it was played to death on the radio, so that took the shine off that particular track (for me) but I rate Golden Earring up with the Classic Rock bands of that wonderful era. The thing that always amazed me was, given English isn’t their mother-tongue, the lyrics are remarkably clever! Here’s the album version of “The Vanilla Queen”…..ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pL9c-wYTnKs.html
This was a song of my youth, it still is a favorite now to include Andrea Bocelli, Martina McBride, the first Celtic Women and the unforgettable Catherine McPhee. What an evolution.
