As far as credit cards go in America, there is a very common misconception that you have to build your credit score to be able to eventually get a loan for a house. This narrative is pushed by the trillion dollar loan industry. Debt is very profitable, and as a lender, the more people you can get in debt the better. I personally have many friends who think they need to build their credit score, and don’t own a house. I’m 31 and have literally never been in debt, up until the house i bought last year. I got a great rate for the time (5.5%.) At the end of the day, all the banks care about is making money. They want to give you a loan, and credit score is just a fairly small piece of the puzzle in the grand scheme.
