I watched this show as a child I'm 40 now and I continue to learn lessons from this show. Especially When I was in my late teens and early 20's. The amount of crap I avoided was uncanny due to this show. They need to add this to the Ciriculim! When I offer advice to my friends I always start with "on an episode of the golden Girls" much like back in st.Olaf! Lol 😂
I restarted the entire series a few weeks ago from start to finish. I’ve seen each episode at lease a hundred times, and each time I watch there’s something new. As I mature (43 now divorced from a cheating spouse of 18 years) certain things hit differently.
Sorry, but it is impossible to "Stay Golden"... Those wonderful girls surpassed the Golden stage, all though the Platinum Stage, and are now Diamond Girls! 😂 But they will always stay funny! Forever! ❤️
That's right Courtney. I get so excited when I see your videos on my notifications. The Golden Girls really taught some of us younger women at the time some valuable lessons. Now, that I am their age, I reflect on the show a lot. Oh man. Blanche's to do list. LOL.
Courtney, my dear, have you considered a video showcasing the same actor on GG reincarnated as a different character? For example, Dorothy's father, (Sal) was also the court jester/waiter when Dorothy and Uncle Lucas, (Lesley Nielson) visited the medieval themed restaurant. Freda Claxton returned as the wife of the couple from Italy who thought Dorothy was their real daughter. There are many others.
It's something I would likely do after getting through the golden grades. Going back to revisit those types of things in the show. I agree it's a solid topic and a lot there
There is something I'm going to say, separate from my first comment. Yeah, I know, David, shut up...(said like Rose) When the other lady played Kirsten in the second to the last episode, I thought where was the first one? It turned out she was under a conflicting contract with another studio production she was working on. She seemed a bit out of place. However, the speech she gives about how they weren't family didn't fit in with the second time when the first one appeared. She stated fully that they were like a functioning family. I believe it was around the time that her daughter was putting on makeup. So, yeah, maybe it was a good thing that they had another lady play Kirsten in her final appearance.
Kirsten was very wrong about the Girls only sharing a house. They shared so many stories, so many ups and downs. They really did share their lives. They were most definitely family.
I personally love That Was No Lady because of the dimension of character. Dorothy showed she just wants that perfect love the other three got to experience. Rose is normally the emotionally sensitive one, but here she put her foot down. Blanche is normally the judgemental one, but here she's sensitive and understanding. Sophia showed she's a tough mother, but it's out of genuine concern for Dorothy's happiness.
Did you make a list about what you consider the biggest continuity blunders of Golden Girls? If so, link me? If not, maybe you should consider making one! uwu
I have an idea for a video. The best jokes from episodes that were kinda dull overall. For example, I’m watching “Blanche Delivers.” Not in the top ten, but it’s got “Knocked up and single. How dainty, The luge is the only one where you get to lie on your back, and Took me 3-1/2 days to have Dorothy. I finally coaxed her out with a pork chop.”
Hi Courtney and crew! I relate a lot to Rose’s goodness, maybe it is one of my biggest faults in life, I care and want to make sure others are taken care of; before my own well being. I love meeting new people and understanding their own experiences to shape who they are. Why I love community service, although this hasn’t helped during the current pandemic. This also follows the current of loneliness. Both intertwined in some aspects of modern life. Great video!
Being a caretaker type is that fine line, I hear you on that and certainly never okay for being taken advantage. Pandemic sure did screw up so much, I finally just got back to volunteering again so I hope that unlocks for you soon too
I love the golden girls, and i am perfectly capable to understand what it is about, also the less obvious motives. I don’t need or like the explanation. When i am into a scene and enjoying it, you cutting it off to give your insights is really disturbing to me.
