My godmother had a golden retriever that was born about a week after me. We grew up fully together and would always play together. They had to put him down last year since he couldn't walk anymore but i know hes happy and chasing squirrels where he belongs and I hope i can see him again one day. May you rest in peace, my first best friend, Buddy

Sounds like Bridget helped absorb the pain of a rough childhood. Our "Scruffy" (beautiful Cocker Spaniel) did that for me in the 80s near Clearwater, Florida. Actually, she was a kind of glue that gave the family a kind of anchoring or connectedness. She was an ambassador of love, and she added gaiety and levity to a tense environment. We even had a voice we would use which we pretended was she talking. Also, she had a strong negative reaction to humans only several times in her life, and one of those times was Scruffy interacting with a man who would later go on to attempt (unsuccessfully) to molest me. RIP Girl.

When I came home from university, our golden retriever burst into tears and collapsed at my feet. For the rest of my visit, he never left my side, and he cried for weeks when I left again. I don't ever want to be loved that way again.

I had two and down to one unfortunately. I'll always have my golden babies! They have been so important in my life and as I found out to my neighbors too. When I lost my oldest to cancer all my neighbors came over crying giving condolences. Golden Retrievers touch the souls of everyone they meet. There isn't a person or animal (except that pesky squirrel) that they don't love.

Some Goldens make that face when they're excited. My male does that exact face with more teeth and sneezes a bunch when he gets excited or wants attention and it sometimes freaks new people out. We call it his stink face

Yep, had one for 13 years until he succumbed to liver cancer. He was a member of the family and it was hard when he passed. We now have a golden doodle. I just wish they lived longer.❤

Seniors are the best! Ive had both young and old dogs. Honestly those over age 8 are a dream! Okay kind dog lover, please go search Justice For Dixie. This issue just needs more folks to simply sign a petition. There are several on Google. Pick one! Of course I say look for the one launched by Lisa Marie Hughes. I'm constantly looking at it. I want it to hurry up and reach 45,000 signatures! I do not want this story to be lost as yesterday's news. It's important to all canines and dog lovers across the USA. Let's just say I did further research. I'm very aware that what happened to Dixie is not a rare incident. Please share this!

I once had a dog named Aspen who was golden retriever-German shepherd mix. She was the first dog I ever taught a new trick and the sweetest dog I’ve ever had in my life. She had so much personality and could melt the heart of anyone she met. After she died of heart failure, we gathered around her grave and said “If perfection incarnated itself in the form of a dog, her name would be Aspen”. Rest in peace you sweet dog 😔

Omg that golden that looked like he was at a dog show like he was sitting on top of a table with a green towel was the best golden I've ever seen. He literally had an actual smile that went all the way up to his doggy eyebrows and his tail was wagging. I wish the clip of him/her was longer cuz I could watch that all day.

I worked for a man that had 3 and it was the same way. They even jumped into his helicopter with Golden Joy. Went with him to his office bldg.....his whole bldg was dog friendly. From execs to sectretaries.

@@DotDusk I know it’s sad to imagine losing them, but treasure every moment. Take as many pictures with them as possible. Be extra careful with them, and spend as much time as possible watching them. Don’t leave them alone in the heat for too long. Give them as much love as you possibly can and tell them how much they mean to you while you still have them ❤️ I’m sure they are sweet pups, goldens always are!

Guys it’s okay to lose your loved ones, love goes beyond size and shape and even beyond life and death!! I own a golden too!! And he’s just 9 months old now… thing is I’m free of fear of losing him, fear kills your potential to be ever lastingly happy, these beautiful beings are there to teach us just that ❤ My request is, if we can take them as teachers too, we can reach great heights in spiritual advancements while living this beautiful life every single day!! @@DotDuskive lost 2 beautiful goldens at 2 diferent times back to back (they never met only had one at a time) Something that made me feel better is to create a little area of the wall in my house/appartment that has a framed photo of my dog doing what they loved the most as well as an item of significance to them. Its cheasy but our dogs never truly die. Their spirits are always with us. They wouldnt want the memory of their love they gave us all those years to be shadowed by grief. Another cheasy thing but I love to think all our dogs are waiting for us once we are gone to play with them and give them treats for all time 😂 sorry if this doesnt help and just sounds dumb

My family had a golden, we eventually had to put him down due to cancer. RIP Cooper. But I cannot emphasize enough how accurate this video is. For anyone considering getting a golden, it really is a commitment. They will become a literal addition to your family. The love these dogs are capable of is immeasurable

@@jonskillings1258I personally think that golden retrievers are the most friendliest dog. However, when buying one it’s not guaranteed. My Nan had a golden retriever and it always had mood swings. You couldn’t 100% trust it. One day my Nan had a friend round her house and kept telling her that the dog is not always friendly, so be careful. Unfortunately, her friend had ignored my Nan and she went to pet the golden retriever. It then ripped the whole of her bottom lip of with its teeth, sending her to hospital.

Where I live there used to be a lady who jogged thru the neighborhood, her golden would carry his own leash, I was watching him one time across the street because he dropped his leash and then started running after his mom, she told him to go back and get his leash and he did. I have had two goldens in my life, they are the goofiest dogs I have ever had, I still have one, my next dog will be a golden.

I once read that golden retrievers are so gentle that their stuffed toys remain in perfect condition for the duration of their lives. They carry them so gently in their mouths that they never get nicked. It’s one of the most heartwarming things I’ve ever heard.

@@kelle881yep!! but they gotta be just the right ones. my golden had always been a real ripper when it came to toys and plushies but then we tried to give her the cheapest of cheap, some IKEA plushies and she LOVES them. she loves to bring them around with her and show them off and when she sleeps she rests her head so gently on top of them like they’re a pillow💜

A well bred golden with hunting lines usually instinctually will have a soft mouth. This is because they are gun dogs, meaning they will flush out bird and then when the hunter hits one they will go retrieve it but were bred specifically NOT to shred it or crush it while bringing it back. So a golden that will not crush or shred toys would actually make a great hunting dog and genetically has well bred hunters in its lines.

I got a golden sort of by accident. I got one at a dog pound not knowing much about the breed but man was I pleased. She quickly became my best friend and had a way of making me laugh out loud at least once a day. She was so loyal and sweet. She passed away from cancer after a long and happy life. I was really heart broken when she passed. Never will forget that dog. They really are great dogs

They really are. I've always had small dogs, but I've always admired golden retrievers. They are so sweet and loyal and gentle and just make for incredible family pets. I don't think I have ever seen a golden retriever who wasn't a good boy/girl. If you have one or know one, give them a treat. They probably deserve it.
