@R T ah, but it isn't 😔 I'm low average but that seriously doesn't mean shit for actually measuring intelligence. I think my comments pretty worth breathing out of your nose though.
I'm old and I've had a lot of dogs. A golden is hands down the best dog I ever had and I don't want any other breed since owning one. They are the best dog IMO.
I’ve had rescue dogs which I loved, but a golden is the best I’ve had. I’ve had three. One we just put down in April and who we had for 15 years. I’m still sad 😢😢
I had 5 Goldens over the years, and my current Golden, Charisma is still going strong at 12. We take long walks along the lake and she still has a little pup in her after all this time. She has some joint/arthritis issues but I give her Bone/Joint juice, Hemp Oil and it works wonderfully. Such a wonderful girl.
Mine is 11 years old, I give him glucosamine and collagen daily and he’s like a puppy. Feed Goldens home made dog food and they’ll live a long time. Stay away from commercial food.
This makes me miss our late Golden Retriever so much. Both my mom and Sister got diagnosed with cancer a few years spart and cruel fate hsppened to have me abroad during both times. My father was having a hard time dealing with having to be the one supporting them, but he told me that our Golden would sense when either one of them would have some hard times and came over to comfort them. Both mom, sis and dad are fine now, but unfortunately we did loose our Golden angel that supported our whole family during those though times.
My mom was actively dying.. she said she saw our deceased Goldie.. that Goldie is her companion in praying daily.. It's been said that we get to see our deceased pets when we go pass away.
We have been lucky enough to have had FOUR Goldens. Every one of them has been utterly wonderful, every day, including even their very last day. We feel so fortunate and we will be starting up a FIFTH in August. Do I approve of Goldens? .....they're astonishingly wonderful.
Our golden knew my brother was dying before we did. He smelled him, cried and offered him a toy and then the inevitable happened. I’m thankful for the joy our golden was able to bring to him before the end.
I am very sorry for your loss, this hurts to read. If i can shine a mere light of positivity, you have a magical dog guiding your family through good and bad times. May your family find peace with your brothers' passing.
I really don’t see anything bad about Goldens. If you take them to the vet regularly then they shouldn’t have any problems. These beautiful fur babies are the perfect breed and size. ♥️ 🥰 🐶
Just lost my Golden retriever Hudson on Monday from cancer. Absolutely devastated, what a dog. Really miss him, over 10 years years of walking him with the seem routine, feel lost now
They are definitely quiet but very sociable .They are athletic though and need a lot of exercise. As for a low prey drive have you seen them once they are off the leash and see a squirrel? I don't think they are good dogs for people with restricted mobility.
I loved all of mine. The most interesting common trait I found was their lack of interest in balls. Throw a ball and they’ll look at you as if to say “What? You want me to get that. You threw it, you go get it.” 🤣
@@Tharrel - Well, you may be right. I learned early on that I liked an older female Golden that had already been bred. Sounds silly, but it calms them. IMHO, it also makes them highly trainable. All of mine with just gentle tugs on their leash reached a point where if I tapped my thigh, they would come right over and sit. If I called them, they would immediately come, often with comical results. You could walk them without leashes, and they were all incredibly obedient. But if I threw a ball… they’d just look at me like I was an idiot. So, by your example, you have proven them right… I am.
This is a factually correct video! My golden is very old put still energetic and loyal! When we take him on walks in the woods and let him off-leash, he always runs ahead but comes back to play with us. He is also great with out two cats and our rough collie puppy.
I love so much with this dog we have one golden and we just celebrate her 1st birthday 🥰😍 a few days ago. thank you for this video, it gives me knowledge about our dog.
This video is very accurate! They're wonderful family dogs with little to no downsides (we've had 3 as I was growing up) and they have the most docile and friendly temperaments, I never once saw one behave aggressively or cause deliberate harm and are indeed very smart (for the most part... our last one was very dopey but loveable!). Honestly I'd recommend one to anyone as long as you have the space and the time to provide enough exercise, a good size garden is a must I would say, which is the only reason I don't have another one right now. The "cons" are all very minor but as with any dog, certainly worth having an understanding of as an owner. They do like to chew (get them some toys to gnaw on!) and will 100% want to roll in everything they find out and about (even dead foxes and poop) they will leap in ponds and muddy tracks happily and they all love to dig, but can be trained out of it for the most part. They also do indeed shed a LOT, our last retriever had very long hair (even for a golden!) and a thick fluffy "mane" at the front - when she was malting you could pull fistfuls of hair from the front and it would just keep going! Definitely correct about black clothing and brushing them outside! Also the point about health conditions is very true, two of the three retrievers we had as I was growing up developed arthritis/joint problems, one was manageable with the help of our vet but our last one got it pretty bad in her back legs as she got older and sadly had to be put down because of it (would've caused her more pain to ignore it). I know it can be upsetting to hear about these things and it's certainly no reason to avoid getting one but worth being aware of.
Loved the video.. And came to the conclusion that Goldens have 0 cons! But..Just a correction ☑ Dogs aren't "purchased"..🐕 They are "adopted".. They have lives, and aren't a "thing" To "buy". 😃❤
I have 2 litter brothers called Arlo & Alfie. They are part of our family & so friendly! But they would be really bad if a robber came in, they'd just give them kisses 😂
We had a new sofa delivered and the two guys were really delightful. They just LOVED our Golden and the delivery was really FUN! When they got ready to pack up their equipment and leave, our dog tried to get in the truck to go with them. She was the best dog we ever had, except for the three others. Goldens are the best (but not as watch dogs).
One con is that Golden Retrievers are one of the top three breeds in terms of cancer. Look it up. There are special studies and a registry trying to find out why. We lost our two Goldens in 2017. Didn't think I would survive. Ad long as you know what you're in for...
I have a 1-year-old golden retriever, he really is an angel, he is a really smart dog and very sweet. He always wants him to be a pet. The only cons I know about owning one is that they live only 11-13 years because I want him to be with me for life.
Think big oaf who's understanding of boundaries between you and them does not exist. That is their cons. Yet if you are okay dealing with that, it actually adds to their lovability too, because it adds to their quirkiness. Read up on housebreaking and basic training them beforehand, and stay consistent with it, you won't need a trainer. Besides that it is simple to care for them: -60 minutes total exercise, can be broken into 20 minute sessions & 5-10 minutes training (brisk walk, play/wrestling, dog park, hike, swim, fetch, some combo of various things - work in a 5 minute training session before one or 2 sessions-maybe after if they are too wound up at the start, they are very bright and working out their minds, as well as their body will cut back on destructive behavior greatly) -thorough brushing 2-3 times a week, along with checking for ticks, the long hair makes it easy to miss them -indoor toys should be mentally stimulating, if you have an area they can explore off leash, if you can give them 10 minutes or so a day to explore it will help - they are very bright and need their minds to be worked out -belly rubs, lots and lots of belly rubs -they will not guard your home, but they are very smart and will lead the robber to all your jewelry, electronics, defensive arms and cash for a mere belly rub
The only con with a Golden Retriever is it's tail, it's just at the right height to clean the top of a coffee table off with one swipe. But honestly, there are no cons, just love your pet as they already love you.
Pros: Best dog ever Cons: I am still waiting to find some reason but it will never happen. Great for those ones that have no anything to hide, many of those with suspicious life thus insecure let choose aggressive sort of dog (not carved in stone, sure, many ppl just love dogs being "aggressive" or good-hearted).
"Golden retrievers are not bred to be guard dogs, and considering the size of their hearts and their irrepressible joy in life, they are less likely to bite than to bark, less likely to bark than to lick a hand in greeting. In spite of their size, they think they are lap dogs, and in spite of being dogs, they think they are also human, and nearly every human they meet is judged to have the potential to be a boon companion who might, at many moment, cry, "Let's go!" and lead them on a great adventure." ~ Dean Koontz
I’m disabled quite badly and looking for one to train to help and for company. The advantage of being disabled (if there is one) I could take them with me everywhere.
Golden Retrievers are made up of tiny little hearts. I love my dog loads but she can ignore you when it pleases her and when she wants to go for a swim we have our hands full. She will escape whenever possible and run down to the beach ignoring your calls. 🙄😃 Can't imagine ever not having a Golden Retriever.
My golden loves people so much that she can’t help but bark at them loudly in her excitement when out on walks. Only con as it makes other people upset or they end up thinking she’s a mean dog, when’s she’s not. The completely opposite really.
PROS: Super Friendly Super Playful Super Smart Loves Attention CONS: May be TOO friendly May be TOO playful May need TOO MUCH attention Are not immortal
I’m allergic to dogs but I never cared. Hypoallergenic dogs are to small other than the samyoed which would be my only hypoallergenic dog id get. But I’d suffer to have a golden.
