Fun fact: Janus is a Norse God with 2 faces. Hence why Sean beans 006 is codenamed Janus ;) It's also why January is named after Janus. He has 2 faces one which looks back at the previous year and one that looks forward to the coming year!

@@randywhite3947 the modern casino royale was good, but I think they had little idea what to do with the reboot, it's starts with bond the in his prime agent getting his 00, but by the third movie he's already according to mi6 too old for the job and has a non sensical back story with an old Aston Martin. I think the reboot just lost its way with unneeded fan service and damning plot holes

@@randywhite3947 OHMSS, GFINGER and GoldenEye are I would say my favourite and most researchable bonds. Not that GoldenEye was without its flaws, some of the screenplay is naff, and some of the gadgets were stupidly unrealistic when they didn't have to be

The teaser trailer for Goldeneye was everything. I watched Brosnan as an kid on the Remington Steele TV series. Everybody saw him becoming Bond and I knew he was going to be great.

I enjoyed this when it came out. One of my friends was an extra in the tank chase scenes. Peirce Brosnan gave autographed photos of him on the motorbike to the extras after shooting wrapped, my pal still has it on his wall.

@@TheMovieJourney He once told me that since getting his Equity acting card, he does speaking parts. Wind forward about 10 years after Goldeneye & he's got a part in a radio drama with Sean Bean. When he walked into the studio, Sean recognised him from Goldeneye. It surprised him since a decade previously they'd met very briefly on the Bond movie, and he remembered him out of a group of 30 extras!.

@@TheMovieJourney I think I've spotted him at 8.42, short bloke in hat with flaps who goes to the aid of the policeman in the crushed car. I'm sure you can spot him in the shot where the armoured train leaves the goods yard - there are two extras in that scene. Since Goldeneye, he's been in Judge Dredd - the Stallone version- and the Fifth Element (one of the guys on the spaceship looking into those 'turrets' on the bridge). He told me that normally the big stars keep to themselves & eat in their trailer etc, but not on Goldeneye. He found himself standing in line for lunch once with Brosnan who he said was a very approachable guy. He asked him if he was nervous about being the (then) 'new' Bond and Brosnan replied that he practiced two classic lines , 'my name is Bond, James Bond ' & ' vodka martini, shaken not stirred' a few times to get them right:). Lucky guy, he also got to be in the live action Wind in the Willows with his childhood heroes, the Monty Python team. Nice channel guys, hope you do more movies, just subbed:).

This was my first Bond in the cinema. It's a solid action movie, probably Brosnans best. I have a fond spot for it.

I lost it when watching the full commentary and it was asked 'is she giving him a massage?' of Bond and Xenia's interactions in the spa. I love her character - Famke Janssen is incredible - but I can't help but imagine it's unclear exactly what her killing techique is unless someone tells you.

The return to the "quite cheesyness" after the "slight" change to seriousness with Dalton.... that is a good movie (afrer a long time period waiting for a new Bond film), -unfortunately with no good continuation to the other Brosnan films that follows

I agree, Goldeneye is peak Brosnan. I'm hoping the other Brosnan films do better than my expectations for them.

This would have been a great film if Dalton had been Bond. The tone of the movie minus the silly one liners fit Dalton well. As a movie, it’s solid. I’ve just never been a fan of Brosnan. He never came off as a believable tough super spy. He was just a model in a suit who can pull out one liners.

All but one of the Pierce brosnan films are excellent James Bond movies. That's Die Another Day. Tomorrow never dies is great especially the fact that Bond loses a girl he knew in his past. The World is not enough has an amazing twist to it. Contrary to probably leave nuclear scientists aren't all bookworm middle-aged men and women. There are plenty of women who are super young looking who can defuse a nuclear bomb. That's one of the reasons why I like the World is not enough. It has a character whose looks are based off of a real life scientist.

I love Goldeneye the film but I never got to play the video game. I was born in 95, so my first Bond game wasn't until Nightfire and then followed with Everything or Nothing. Good times.

12:00 The Red Bull dudes did this for real 3 years ago. The paratrooper in this scene actually slap the back of the airplane. Not only is this stuff possible but it has been done in recent years. Not once but twice, that I know about. So don't laugh at it. It's a dangerous stunt.

Goldeneye is one of my favorite Bond movies that has Brosnan in it. :D fun fact: Famke Jansen, who played Xenia, actually got her shoulder dislocated during the scene when James Bond was throwing her against the wall, and had to take a long break from filming to recover. also, the swear that she shouts; "blyatch" (however you phonetically spell it. :P ) is russian for bastard. :) edit: another fun fact: Pierce Brosnan has a terrible fear of heights, which made him outright refuse to climb the Arecibo Observatory, the location that was used for the final showdown, so he had to use a stunt double. :)

@@TheMovieJourney speaking of helicopters, here's another fun fact for ya'll: for the helicopter scene where Trevelyan and Xenia are flying off from the train, they used a male body double, and put him in heavy makeup to make him resemble Xenia. now that's makeup magic for ya. :)

@@TheMovieJourney even i was surprised when i read that. :P also, most of the movie was filmed in a lot. also, the helicopter pilot that Xenia shoots is the same stunt actor who performed the bungee jump in the intro. and i read that he actually passed out while he jumped, but he quickly regained conciousness. :)

this movie had it all. Great action scenes, a good bond, great femme fatale, memorable villain and a interesting bondgirl. while the series progressive the ideas are interesting and good, but sadly the execution is poor done, and in some movies affects more than others. Pierce is my favourite bond, specially in the dark mood, which his character goes sometimes and we can see how Pierce´s bond can be cold, but too many cheesy jokes cuts that. Plus Framke and Izabella both did broke the curse of been in bond movie. Most of the times, the girls in bond movies kinda didnt get decent roles (a side from few who did survive this curse like Jane seymour or Diana Rigg)

Ya never know being the somewhat physically stronger💪/physically tougher 😤 version of Fatima Blush from Never Say Never Again it looks like Xenia Onatopp probably is physically strong💪enough/physically tough 😤 enough of a fighter/villainess 2 survive/withstand being hit in the back/chest/on the sides by more than 8 .32 ACP (7.65×17mmSR Browning) rounds (bullets), more than 14 9×19mm Parabellum rounds (bullets), more than 8 9×18mm Makarov rounds (bullets), more than 8 7.62×25mm Tokarev rounds (bullets), more than 6 .22 Short/.25 Auto rounds (bullets), more than 30 5.45×39mm rounds (bullets), more than 20 7.62×39mm rounds (bullets), more than 20 5.56×45mm NATO rounds (bullets), more than 10 7.62×54mmR rounds (bullets) as well as more than 10 7.5×54mm French rounds (bullets) without wearing bulletproof/bullet resistant armor vest but in the Sauna scene plus the Cuban Jungle scene as Bond's clearly/obviously going 2 shoot her in the chest with his Walther PPK right 2 the point she cackles at him like a hyena where she without bulletproof/bullet resistant armor vest's in a way like saying you'll never have enough bullets 2 kill me Mister Bond/I'm far 2 strong 💪/tough 😤 4 your Walther's bullets Mister Bond no matter how many/much of them ya empty in2 my chest he shoots her multiple/several times in the chest with that same Walther PPK & she continues cackling after/when getting hit in the chest by every round/more than every round from Bond's Walther PPK hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

The only truly good Brosnan Bond movie before they went down the toilet. If there was a movie that showed his potential, it was this one. A 4/5 from me.

An alright Bond film, I still preferred the previous two over it, Tommorow Never Dies is easily Brosnans best as it feels like it was written just for him where as GoldenEye has many elements that would have worked a lot better with Dalton.
