Most Bond fans don't know that before Eric Serra was drafted for the score to 1995's GoldenEye, Michael J Lewis (likely most famous for composing the music to Roger Moore's North Sea Hijack) had submitted several temp tracks in a bid to score the film.
Obviously, this never came to pass and it seems that the information about Lewis' contribution was lost to time but thankfully his music was not. Available for the public to enjoy in all its... glory?

Now this is fascinating to hear! an entirely different take on the GoldenEye score, a lot less industrial and more... honestly don't really know how to describe it, in parts its Bondian but in others it almost feels like something you'd hear in a made for tv movie.

I really don’t know how I feel about this score? Some parts feel like they would fit in the Avengers tv series from the 60s. It’s an interesting look at what May have been but I’m very glad we got the score we did.

This would not have worked in GoldenEye. It would have made the movie sound outdated and its not spectacular enough for a Bond film. Nice to have it here on RU-vid though.

Sounds more like a 1970s tv show score, like the Dukes of Hazard or Starsky and Hutch than Bond

New information to me😎 Interesting score - It's quite old school - not a bad thing. I associate a Brosnan soundtrack with more colour and dynamism - this just sounds too anachronistic and sometimes rather spoofy. And I'm quite fond of Serra's score especially the opening cues.

There's plenty of colour and dynamism in this score. There's nothing "anachronistic" or "spoofy" about it. The electronic elements provided an added layer of grittiness, it's a nice blend between the old and the new, and it's overall punchy, suspenseful, yet cool, like a Bond soundtrack should be.

2:30 onwards sounds like a spaghetti western score in parts - it's damn weird.

at 12:25 i begin to hear bits of the james bond theme. How ever i do prefer the Eric Serra score since i feel it fits the movie better. The music for this score is not bad, since the orchestration is alright but i feel it fits better for a more TV Budget movie. I am glad they did not choose this score, mainly the lack of the bond motif reminds me of Never Say Never Again. That score was not very great in my opinion. At least this one is alright.

The Tank Chase track was the final piece submitted as Lewis did in waves, hence the addition of the Classic motifs in that track. I like the score but it doesn’t on the whole fit GoldenEye in the sum of its parts
