Essential worker here: I've been on 50-60hr weeks since all this started and wanted to say thank YOU for these videos. They have been a great escape and have helped keep me sane during the free time I have.
When the healthcare & essential worker thanks came up, I shed tears for the first time in many years. No shame, thank you for invoking such intricate emotion Goldfinger.
@@csblakeley I went through their back catalogue to find these songs and totally agree, these versions are so much better. I just want them to keep doing more. A comment on their Insta suggested releasing the Quarantine Sessions on vinyl. Something I'd very much like to see
Damned straight, the guys on the front line in any crisis are the legends. Politicians who try and make out like they're the heroes are a bunch of wankers!
Maybe for 9/11/73? Everything I've seen points to this song having been released in 2000. Really hard to track down the timeline on this song for some reason. www.discogs.com/Goldfinger-7-Mest-The-Innocent/release/8982757
Phil was the backing singer in Story of the Year, even then I could tell he was incredible. Then he branched out into his own band, Greek Fire. Check their stuff out! Although I think hitting the high harmonies might be his speciality
Mike's dental hygiene is outstanding. Thanks for that deep view of your homes, guys. For someone who probably won't have a chance to see Goldfinger at live show are these pandemic releases are pure gold.
It's strange. I grew up in the 90s, and I've never heard any Goldfinger songs (or even heard of them) until recently... I love their music. It's great. But Blink will always be my #1.
@@entombedmachine1518 Blonk was my first band until tom left and now they are not the same.... however angels and airwaves became a favourite after everything magic and they have just go better over the years.
I'm a doctor, treating covid19 patients. I feel so proud while showing goldfinger's quarantined video to my patients. Goldfinger show them that people can still making something even though they're quarantined. I'm 34yo and still listening to Goldfinger. Hopefully someday i can watch your live performance in Indonesia. Please make quarantined version of "tell me" thanks 🙏
96 was answers, 97 was superman, 00 was forgiveness...20+ years of listening. I am a nurse and first responder. Thank you for rehashing at least some of the songs that I grew up to. I have loved every quarantine vid you all have posted.
No matter my mood, when Goldfinger comes on, everything is better. You guys have given my son and I some rockin tunes during all of this and we really appreciate it.
Still loving all these quarantine vids. This year I've been listening to more Goldfinger to a point where now they're one of my absolute favorite bands now. As this goes on, I'd hope they'd do ones on: I Want, My Everything, Get Away, I'm Down and Spokesman
@@EightOneFive Mest were always just riding on the coattails of good bands that wanted to help them. Plus the singer is such a douchebag the entire band got sick of him. They broke up in 2006 but then like 2 and a half years later he brings mest back with a bunch of new people and it's just been a revolving door of musicians since then.
@@eh2396 Oh for sure, they definitely weren't the greatest band out there and not going to sit as any kind of Pop Punk royalty. Their first two albums were on my rotation when they first came out and they were a pretty decent live act seeing them at festivals. But haven't listened to them since, hence me forgetting about them.
Thank you Goldfinger for making our quarantine so much better. And thank you for rededicating this to the first reponders in this crisis! You're all legends!
the song was a forerunner of my punk days and made me cry watching this. its beautiful. rock on guys! you were amazing when i first saw you 20 yrs ago at birch hill in NJ and youre fucking awesome now!!
You are definitely health care workers yourself - saving our mental health! I'm a 49 year old geezer - this kind of music helps us push through this thing.. Thank you!
HardPunkKore They’re afraid of offending people, Andrew Cuomo is the Spokesman for New York, and no one has the balls to challenge him publicly, the question everyone should be asking themselves is “Would I Have Voted National Socialist in 1933?
@@SidViciousIsGod That's not even what the songs about. The album was released in '02 and it was their jab about how fake mainstream music was at the time.
Health worker here in the UK. This hit me hard when it was released and hits me hard to see you put the effort into keeping us going 20 years later. To use my local vernacular; you're a bunch of fuckin' beasts. Good lads.
I work in food business. The people gotta eat. Essential but not Like our healthcare teams. Thank YOU guys for the entertainment and nostalgia. I cry every time I hear your music, but in a cathartic way
Only discovered Goldfinger because of these videos. Feel like I've missed the boat. I'll catch up, thanks for what you guys continue to do. Cheers from Saskatchewan 🤘🍻🏈
does his T shirt honestly say "Save Ferris, Ska now more THEN ever?" THEN?! FUCKING THEN?! ITS THAN. Ugh. I hope its just the folding of the t shirt making it look weird.
We don’t know why so many had to die. I’m in the U.K. and I’ve been terrified with this COVID-19. I don’t know if I’ll ever be the same. Crippling anxiety attacks out of the blue.
I’ve been a Goldfinger fan a long time, but never really followed the members. Obviously I know John, but Mike was in MxPx right? Did he leave them to join Goldfinger? And when did they bring in a third guitar player?
Really hope theres more of these post plague. I cant travel for your fests and it fucks me up hard. These videos have been a real treat as ive never experienced live goldfinger. Cheers. You guys not only made this hell tolerable but semi-fulfilled a long held wish ive had
BOOOOOOOOOOM! I'm following all these live quarantine videos and I didn't expect to hear this song! What a BOOOOOM surprise! How was it!? Goldfinger / Good Charlotte / Mest? It's been a lifetime... amazing guys! cheers form Italy! ps. we're trying to get out of this mess. Hope the best for all the other countries!
Goldfinger, thank you so much. I’m sad to say you were always in the background of punk bands I liked as a young teen, but I’m so glad you did this, because although I’m late, you are becoming a new favorite band of mine!
For some reason I feel more sympathy for the original song, this one is nice, even with better guitars but the feeling of the original one is unique. I love this whole "quarantine sessions" tho, I must admit.
I still love you guys but maybe you could show that there's no need to buy the media driven fearfest and actually play together in the same room. I'm guessing the label will have no part of that but still.
i dont know why, every time i think about goldfinger i'm like meh, until the song starts playing then im like holy shit i remember that song it was so good... lost nostalgies
One thing about the current crisis (and others) pop-punk / punk / ska songs cna be used again as Humanity never heeds the warnings / events etc of these songs
